My favorite thing about this scene is that they show middle-aged and older women just having fun and being silly for the hell of it. A lot of media tries to make it seem like once a woman hits middle age, especially if she has children, she is not allowed to be fun or silly unless it is to make the children happy. This scene has me LIVING.
Ikr they all have the energy of 2 suns
Correct people age but the heart and soul remains young thats why.we should be happy we only live once
Correct people age but the heart and soul remains young thats why.we should be happy we only live once
so true. if my husband and his friends have a 'few too many' occasionally that is lads being lads even though they are in their 60s! however if we women do it, its rather bad and frowned on, even tho kids have all left home.
PERFECT

the amount of serotonin i get from this scene is indescribable. i love how all of them jump and dance with pure joy on their faces and all of them are mostly older women. the energy they radiate is unmatched. i hope i can have a summer like that, both in my young ages and older times.
I literally just watched this like 10 times in a row. Not feeling well today and just like you said, this is making my serotonin explode.
Did you know, while filming this, the locals of the island asked to join in? That who all the women are, not extras but the island locals.
😊
Righttt
Fun fact,at 3:08, the guy behind the piano is actually Benny Andersson, one of the original members in ABBA.
THAT WAS BENNY?!!!
Woah! I just finished watching mamma Mia on itv bored on a Sunday lol and was wondering who the guy on the piano was then see your comment !
Bruh! 😂
Imagine the fun they had while filming this.
They probably said we are going to roll the music. Do what you want
@@Truecrimeresearcher224 Amen to that🤣

I'm from Greece and as yall know, Mamma Mia was filmed in Greece. The best thing about this part of the movie is that the old ladies and all the other people you see except Donna and her friends were local people from the Greek island. The fact that the director joined them in the movie warms my heart. It gets me every time.
@Katherine V Most of mamma mia was filmed on a huge set except for the beach scenes and they used alot of editing to make it look like summer and that the weather was really hot and sunny but in reality it was pretty chilly especially for amanda seyfried in lay all your love on me
Χαχα είναι τέλειο
That's beautiful
thats cool but about you being gayreek but since when do greeks say 'yall'? :/
John Quiñones I’m from South Africa and I say y’all ironically and because thats just universal slang really. 🤷🏻♀️
The way this whole scene makes me cry, it's like you can feel the love, the friendship and the power of everyone in there
theres something about this scene that makes me so emotional :( seeing all these beautiful women (young, middle age and elder) just dancing without a care, and having fun; its so beautiful.
girlhood is something so beautiful truly. how lucky we are to live on a planet that has women.
As a Greek I can confirm this happens everyday
Ego Eimai not to sound dramatic but I would die for this comment
I am gonna live there when I am older
My big sister said she wants to move when she finishes University get pregnant and be with two other men afterwards...
...I am not making that up
In that case I want to go to Greece at least once for this. Talk about having fun. Great movie.
Imma visit soon 👍👍
is anyone going to talk about how great of friends they are? Not only do they support each other and have fun while doing it, but they’re not afraid to look silly because they’re best friends. They give Donna attention in the moment instead of putting it back on themselves. They just HAVE FUN. I want this. I love my friends but i’m the only silly one.
I'm only silly one in my group and I love my friends to but I wish they would sing with me down town
My friends are silly enough to do that with me😂😂
here's to hoping you find some silly friends in addition to (and not in exchange for) the ones you already have!
I’m the weird and silly one in the group but I have one friend who shares these moments with me

This past December, my friends and I were at a bar. They had live music playing and prior to this song, we were the only table that was singing loudly but once this came up, our table immediatelly jumped to our feet and ran straight for the dance floor. Minutes later we had the whole bar dancing along with us. Honestly I have never felt more alive, we were so in the moment we actually got up on the tables and started dancing on top of them, I've never felt more main character than that night.
This happened at my Year 11 prom night, I joined my friends and we went nuts dancing on the tables and I remember how happy one of my friends from Australia were when he saw that happening
Yeah Abba will do that to ya
Im jealous
. Yea, I was being myself dancing to a really good song when some grumpy woman told me not to dance. I just kept dancing. And although I am in my upper 60's I still have my air guitar, make up songs and laugh obsessively. When I taught school I used.made up accents. For fun. It would be special to do what they are doing, but I realize it's only a movie and I should have my own kind of fun with family or friends.
I genuinely cry tears of happiness every time I see this scene. There’s so many overwhelming emotions coming out. Happy & sad & funny at the same time…
I love seeing this scene so much. Life is not over when you’re older ❤
I don't know about crying, but I do cut loose and sing and dance to the song with all I got! ^-^

@@eminesolak7067 Then why u here?
I love how it was the "older" stars who got to perform this song in the movie. Your life doesn't end when you're over 30
Since when 30 is old?😂
@@balika185 you're not and that’s not what I’m saying. It’s very common in our society that you have to reach all your dreams before you’re 30. That you can’t party when you’re 30. You have to have a family before you’re 30. This leads to younger people having anxiety, stress and a lot of pressure during their 20's. They feel like they’re time is running out. Im trying to say, that you have to realize that your life doesn’t end when you’re 30... And look at this scene where all the leading ladies have the time of their life to this song. They sing about how they can dance, sing and party despite their age. It’s incredibly well done by the directors. You have to understand my quotation marks that I wrote.
The "older" stars, meaning Meryl, Julie and Christine who are doing this incredibly and it’s amazing how they were the ones who got to do this song. It could’ve been Sophie/Amanda who did it, which maybe some people would’ve expected. "Your life doesn’t end when you’re 30" is a message that maybe someone needs to hear. Just look at these ladies and what they are doing in the movie. I love it. You’re not old at all by 30.
Also, everyone else, thanks for the likes
@@dinaahlman9071 yep especially women.
Really, Mamma Mia is such a progressive musical. The anti-young marriage subtext, the coming out of the closet storyline, and of course writing the main roles for 40-plus actors.

Honestly when everything isn’t nice in life, and this song plays, along with this scene. Sends me to the moon. As a mom, the day to day stresses make you forget, but hearing this sends me back and I remember what a free spirit i used to be, hoping to find it again like this 🖤✨

As the song probably suggests, in the end freedom for all of us comes from the inside, and its no coincidence at all that you refer to it as Spirit.
True freedom is a gift of God, and nobody and no circumstances can take it away from us...

When I think about what the essence of womanhood is... my mind has always gone straight to this scene when all the women stop what they're doing and come together to sing and dance. The sense of community, support and love gives me absolute CHILLS. Any trans woman who decides to take on the role of a woman, support us, be fabulous and wants to dance with us singing dancing queen in the sunshine, is more than welcome!!! A community is what we make it. People can tell those in their communities to stop dancing and that they're not welcome all they want, but they have every right to ignore that notion as much right back :)
Fun Fact: According to Meryl Streep, she was completely fine after jumping and doing the splits but the next day she was in a lot of pain from it.

Whats so great about this scene (and this movie) is that it's all about a middle age woman questioning her choices in life, starting to realize her mortality, her mistakes and the legacy she wants to put behind her.
But working so much for the next generation, she forgets herself and start to question where she belongs in all this.
Suddenly her friends start teasing and playing, like they used to do when they where young. With song and dance they inspire all the other women around to feel the same, any age and any ethicity. That no matter how old, no matter your past or background, you can still sing, dance and play, and be your own queen in your own story.
Mamma mia tels us that if your young u shouldnt waist your time forcing yourself through old traditions, but take your own time.
and if your old you have still your younger self longing for adventure and fun, so why not let it out? Why not burst the bubble of every day life, and just sing and dance and live a little? Together with old and new generations of women. The time is now, so take your chance while you still can.

Firstly that guy pressed more than 3 keys, secondly that guy is Benny from ABBA who wrote/produced like HALF of all their songs and was also one of the main 4 members!
This will forever be one of the funniest and best dance scenes in a musical. 😂
I believe the celebration at the end was all natural, not scripted or planned, it just so happened to be perfect and unbelievably on the mark - unmissable - wow
These ladies did a great job!
🎵Ooh
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen🎵
🎵Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for a place to go
Where they play the right music
Getting in the swing
You come to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music's high
With a bit of rock music
Everything is fine
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance🎵
🎵You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen🎵
🎵You're a teaser, you turn 'em on
Leave 'em burning and then you're gone
Looking out for another
Anyone will do
You're in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance🎵
🎵You are the dancing queen
Young and sweet
Only seventeen
Dancing queen
Feel the beat from the tambourine, oh yeah
You can dance
You can jive
Having the time of your life
Ooh, see that girl
Watch that scene
Digging the dancing queen
Digging the dancing queen🎵
Hope this help you to jam out to this song ^^
