He never misses an opportunity to use the set, the shapes and movements of the landscape itself, to move his body in ways that make sense to tell the story. And those kinds of subtleties can't be taught. You can learn steps, but you can't learn that type of intuition. You have to be born with the gift. John Travolta has that gift. It's really incredible to watch.

I'll copy-paste an explanation from the much-more eloquent people at Tv Tropes: "Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey apparently intended for Sandy's change to be seen as her becoming more free and sexually liberated, shedding the '50s "good girl" stereotype, as well as a reversal of the "bad boy becomes good" plot they'd seen in films of that era. The problem is that the rigid and repressing sexual mores that Sandy would be seen as adhering to in the beginning are no longer present in current media and haven't been for a long time; so what should have looked like her liberating herself from society's outdated expectations appeared instead to be her simply conforming to a different societal construct, one now seen as self-destructive, to appeal to her ex boyfriend who's not obviously that nice to begin with. _Grease_ is one of my all time favourite musicals and I’ve come here after hearing Olivia Newton-John’s passing. Her role as our very own Sandy in _Grease_ was Iconic and still is to this very day, she and John Travolta had unforgettable divine chemistry together as Sandy and Danny in the film respectively when they acted and sang the songs like ‘You’re The One That I Want’ and the fact they both remained synonymous with _Grease_ as close friends as well as co-stars in real life in the years after it’s release.
Olivia, her angelic voice and beauty will be missed by many especially us longtime fans of _Grease_ in general. But her legacy including her role as Sandy will forever live on.
Rest In Peace Olivia Newton-John and to all the others who were in _Grease_ that have passed before her. 💖🤍⚡️

It's impossible to overstate how deeply this song embedded itself in my generation when it came out. These songs are bursting with joy and everyone love them. Every kid I knew was head-over-heels in love with Olivia Newton John and, quite frankly, I still am.

This has to be one of my favorite musicals. Had the vinyl soundtrack. While it’s way obvious that it’s 20 something year old actors playing high school kids, the silliness of the songs and their exuberance makes you almost forget that. It’s just a fun movie.

This amazing musical was released well before I was a kid, it was the first musical I saw growing up and I fell in love immediately. My mom saw how much I loved it and started showing me other great musicals like Little Shop of Horrors, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and My Fair Lady and it wasn't long before I was singing along to the songs with her. My dad and I watch old musicals together like my fair lady, grease, waitress, and many others but we mostly watch old ones
I'm now in my 30's and my mom had us watch this when I was about 12 and we watched it yearly at least once. Also, My uncle and I used to jam out to the sound track just to enjoy it. It's a timeless treasure

My Drama teacher told me she wanted to do this as our school musical this year, but the school doesn't give her a big enough budget to afford it. I was so pissed. I would've killed to be in this musical.
