This is so great to hear! Thanks for sharing these blessed stories. I saw Tony Williams for the first time at a Zildjian Day in Scotland about 94. I had just started my drum studies and I was spell bound by him, also Vinnie was there too! It was a magical day that remains with me today. He continues to influence drummers with passion today! Tony demanded a lot from the listeners, who, let’s face it, were and are mostly zombies. Success won’t come if you don’t pander to them. I’m glad he didn’t; I’m glad he made that sacrifice for excellence.
In the ‘70’s older guys would get really pissed if you didn’t play the hihat on 2 & 4 and if you varied the ride pattern. I’d think, “where the fuck have you been for the last 15 years?” But I wouldn’t SAY it!
It's here on youtube.. "The Barbarians" with Tony playing drums! Just key in The band title, and "my imagination" .. I was pleasantly surprised, and I think you will be as well!!😁👍🏻
NOBODY WILL EVER BE A FOOD FREAK LIKE TONY THAT'S WHAT GOT HIM..INNOVATER HE BLESSED ME BY STEPPING ON MY FOOT FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES YEh he was something!!!!!!
Thanks a ton, Mike! Great stories and very inspiring.
Love these interviews.
And no interviewer,
just great questions with Mike Clarks answers.
Probably best described as "Mike Clark on Tony Williams".
GREAT interview! Thanks so much for this treasure.

CIndy Blackman Santana. Drum Fan #1. 😂❤🎉
Another great interview. The TW exercise @ 4:22 in pt1, is an effective exercise for 4 limb co-ordination.

What is the song at the end? Shazam app doesn’t recognize it.
Look for "the barbarians" here on youtube, and you'll be able to hear the entire tune!! I'm sure you'll dig it!!😁👍🏻👍🏻
It's the Ted Warren channel.
I think Tony Williams influenced Billy Cobham, Alphonse Mouzon, and a touch of him rubbed off on Lenny White and Harvey Mason, what do you think?
YES.
