    That zoom is cool. I have two GW power supplies. One is older with large LED display the other is much newer with LCD. I use the older most often because of the big read out.

    Great Video Tony, It's a Switchmode , that's why its smaller, but for only 360W to Large still. Thankyou for the Infos.

      Thanks, yes switchmode indeed, they have 600Watt too.. that would justify the size.

      Hi @KonstantinGrigoriadis , i think they use the same case for the 360W and 600W model.

      @@TonyAlbus well not really, for a switchmode its to big and probably to expensive. Of course it has a lot of bells and whistles, but the CPS-3232 for example is 1/4 of the Size and is 1kw, the digital functionality ofcourse is not to compare just the power electronics :-

    really nice, I need a PSU that can deliver a decent amount of power into a 4 ohm load. I'm working on a video about the Faraday effect and I do know that you are subscribed to my little channel, so please look forward to seeing your recommendations in my next video.

      @@TonyAlbus Single output no good for me. Does the triple output have that zoom feature. If so what’s that model number if you know it. I’ve been more and more impressed with uni t. I have a hand held DMM and a thermal image camera. I really like them both. Better than expected.

    Hi Tony, the source is great 😲 UNI-T surprised, great control, connectivity and accuracy. The stupid thing is that you only have it on loan and you have to send it back ...... 🤔 so send it to me for my birthday, I have a 15V 60A power source so they will complement each other 🤣 you will fulfill the sending obligation 🤣 and it will make me happier than at UNI- T 🤔 I just have no idea how they would like it 🤣
    With that maximum current, it's like loads, it won't allow to exceed 360W at different combinations of voltage and current.
    Nice day 🙂 Tom

    Hi Tony, great video! Based on one of your earlier videos I bought the UDP3305S-E. I like it very much, nice price/performance ratio. In this video you showed a PC SW version 1.2.3 (?) which you received from UNI-T. But where can I find that newer version? Their products are becoming better and better. But that is not yet valid for their EU website, if you look for SW unfortunately. Thank you !

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks, i see if i can share the software in a link later in the description.. i did a recomendation to uni-t EU to keep the website uptedate also for firmware.. that is their next step. you are not the first and last to mention that point.

    In the West, UNI-T is regarded as cheap sh1t, but this is really good stuff. As time goes on, we will only see advances from this company...

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Now the last years its loosing that reputation, starting with the UT181A multimeter and now whit all the new instruments they are making, like the Spectrum Analyzers from my other video and 12bit scopes. they are doing a great job. now the only thing they need to do is get the website upto date with latest firmware and software. they will come there in the end.

  • @TheDefpom
    @TheDefpom Před 3 měsíci +1

    I really don't like how close they put the bulk caps to the heat sink, why do the designers ALWAYS put caps right next to heat sinks... it is one of my pet peeves, when they do that the devices are almost designed to fail sooner.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Scott, good question, i did a quick search on that, it seems from a EMI point of view, the big caps go as close as possible to the source and the smaller close to the load, that would be just behind the terminals.

    • @TheDefpom
      @TheDefpom Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@TonyAlbus yes indeed, but they could move the caps 20-30mm further away from the heat sink without really impacting the smoothing performance

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  Před 3 měsíci

      Interesting point, maybe we can do a video on that and do EMI testing if it does make a differnece, but why are you worried about so close to the heatsink, is it heat? becouse in this case they are on the cold side where the air goes in.

    • @TheDefpom
      @TheDefpom Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@TonyAlbus Yes just because of heat transfer into the capacitor, even on the "cold side" as in this case there would still be some heat being radiated into the caps, shortening their life.
      I have fixed many bits of test gear where the caps have been placed right next to a heat sink and as a result get warm, and have seen multiple times where the caps by the heatsink are completely dead, while other identical caps elsewhere in the instrument are still testing OK, because the heat has increased the ageing of the capacitors shortening their life.

    • @TonyAlbus
      @TonyAlbus  Před 3 měsíci

      @@TheDefpom Thank you for explaining, interesting point. Still i am interested in the EMI consequences moving the Caps farther away from the source. Sadly most the devices are not designed anymore to last 20-50 years and if the designers are asked to design something with as low as possible EMI not too expensive and should last as least twice the warranty period, that is what they will do. Interesting conversation Scott, thanks

      @@TonyAlbus those specs are very nice. Hopefully you don"t experience any glitches with this Uni-T device like MjLorton experienced with his 200000 counts bench multimeter from Uni-T that he received for doing a review. He experienced a few glitches, and send a open card to Uni-T and ask if this was designed that way, or if it was a fault. Some engineer from China from Uni-T replied that is was designed that way. While it seems it is not and it is a fault. After that Uni-T didn't respons anymore to his further questions if they gonna replace the unit or offer a new firmware etc....
