What Sanders, an activist poli sci undergrad at the U. of Chicago, actually did in August 1963 was get arrested for protesting housing and school segregation in the city. (IL is my home state, by the way, and I saw the newspaper photos of a policeman "encouraging" Sanders to the ground during the protest that precipitated his arrest, etc.) The NAACP got him out the next day. He was also a working member of CORE and SNCC, two other major civil rights groups at the time. Also that month, Sanders organized a busload from Chicago to DC for MLK's gigantic March for Jobs and Freedom and historic "I Have A Dream" speech. Your description of Bernie as "also very very pro Segregation" is laughable...except that it is so sad and disgusting you would write that about a young man who found his life s work early as a warrior for civil, economic, environmental, gender, racial and social justice...and for peace. Your final sentence is not understandable...but truly pathetic, evenso. You really should be ashamed of yourself. Here's a suggestion: Why don't you dedicate the rest of your life to achieving 1% of what Sen. In 2017 (the most recent year I found numbers on), the number of incarcerated blacks was 488. The number of whites? 4,909 - over ten times as many. So, maybe you should be coming to the rescue of the persecuted Caucasians who comprise 85.1 percent of Vermont's incarcerated population.

Feel so lucky to have been born in Burlington VT in 1981, the same year Bernie first went into politics as our mayor. This man has been fighting for me my entire life, everyone in this country deserves the same.

I still remember a story he told about his Chicago days when he was profiled by the Atlantic in the mid-80s as Burlington’s mayor. While he was putting up posters announcing a rally against police brutality, two cops accosted him, & one told him “It’s outside agitators like you who’re screwing this city up. The races got along fine before you people came here.”
And it’s pretty incredible that the policeman could claim that Black & White Chicagoans “got along fine,” while Black children were forced to study in “Willis Wagons”, just cause the city government didn’t want them to have White classmates.
