We take our wallets out for parking tho. Parking is insane, requesting copies of lots of files and paperwork isn't free either in many cases. Many times we pay for teh drugs as well, at a government subsidized amount, but anything we get in-hospital is paid for...and stuff like outpatient procedures like getting wounds dressed and what not is also free and done in places closer to ur homes. oh i just caught Bernie saying it in the video too haha. In their defense u can get normal parking if u walk a block or ...two or three to the hospital tho. Or if your like me and you find a parking spot you are supposed to pay for but they don't ticket in. All hospitals are stretched paper thin tho, all are over-capacity, wait times are very long. u can easily end up having to see a doctor in a hallway or get treated in a hallway. u might sleep in a waiting room or something too. everyone at a hospital in terms of the doctors/nurses are very impresssive tho ime. Some of the lesser jobs like the intake staff are extremely rude tho, but that's life. The irony is the right-wing of the country wants to create a private healthcare sector...and such a thing will completely destroy the public healthcare. everyone needs to pay in order for the country to have access to free healthcare.

I think there's a lot of red tape and rubber stamping. Some times you go in and no one seems to know where you need to go or such things but I think with AI now so smart maybe it can manage files and things better more efficiently so less time is wasted going from one line to the next line to the next line

For real though, when I lived in Victoria I had to get my appendix removed. I drove to the hospital, checked in, got a morphine injection after about 45 minutes, put on a gurney and taken to the OR after about an hour and a half, then spent the night recovering in a private room. If I had been living down in the states and was uninsured, that same trip would have cost me AT LEAST $50,000. Up here, all I had to pay for was parking overnight, or about $10. Single-payer health care is not a bullshit scam people, it makes a very tangible difference in your life.

As a person living in Europe, the American health care system is beyond belief.
What a lot of Americans don't understand is that in Europe we use the USA as the prototypical example of what bad healthcare looks like and why privatisation is a bad idea. 'This is becoming like America'.
It is truly an atrocious system... At face-value, it seems nothing more than a 3rd world country health care system. But i think they have some kind of weird relationship with taxes being for the benefit of their entire society, including yourself... it is just a weird way of thinking tbh. The ironic part is that they're "supposedly" one of the most religious countries on Earth XDDD

Our healthcare is complete shit. Our education systems are complete shit. We can't provide for the wellbeing of the people because the people are voting against it because freedom of speech allows propaganda networks to play 24-7 on TV and over the radio. We're truly a cesspool and it's such a horrible shame. The sad thing is, people are so apathetic that they won't even get out to vote, even knowing how awful all of these things are because they've been lied to time and time again and told that their votes don't matter. If it wasn't for my family, I'd have left the US ages ago.

If you want a good example of why Bernie is so great, don’t listen to him speak - watch him when he listens. He shows a deep interest in what people are saying to him and that’s how he has formed such a balanced worldview. It’s very evident in this video.

We take our wallets out for parking tho. Parking is insane, requesting copies of lots of files and paperwork isn't free either in many cases. Many times we pay for teh drugs as well, at a government subsidized amount, but anything we get in-hospital is paid for...and stuff like outpatient procedures like getting wounds dressed and what not is also free and done in places closer to ur homes. oh i just caught Bernie saying it in the video too haha. In their defense u can get normal parking if u walk a block or ...two or three to the hospital tho. Or if your like me and you find a parking spot you are supposed to pay for but they don't ticket in. All hospitals are stretched paper thin tho, all are over-capacity, wait times are very long. u can easily end up having to see a doctor in a hallway or get treated in a hallway. u might sleep in a waiting room or something too. everyone at a hospital in terms of the doctors/nurses are very impresssive tho ime. Some of the lesser jobs like the intake staff are extremely rude tho, but that's life. The irony is the right-wing of the country wants to create a private healthcare sector...and such a thing will completely destroy the public healthcare. everyone needs to pay in order for the country to have access to free healthcare.
@@Cerbyo in BC we just got rid of Medical premiums. Every system can do better for sure and definitely agree with you on the wait times. My experience. Is once I'm in things go pretty quickly. I think there's a lot of red tape and rubber stamping. Some times you go in and no one seems to know where you need to go or such things but I think with AI now so smart maybe it can manage files and things better more efficiently so less time is wasted going from one line to the next line to the next line

I tried, I was lucky when looking for insurance the rep told me about RX Advocates. $80 a month for my insulin and I don't have to ration. Exactly. It took him 50 years to find an audience who was receptive to what he has always been trying to accomplish, and yes, what he was also trying to warn us about. The establishment is terrified of Bernie, but they need to be more terrified of his ideas. The younger generations have proven themselves to be true activists, and aren't saddled with all of the cold war and meritocracy bullshit that my generation was fed. The movement will only spread, and the neoliberals' days are numbered. It is weird for me to say, but I'm now a middle-aged dude. I used to be nihilistic and bleak about the future of the United States, but seeing the next generation of leaders come out so hard for Bernie's agenda gives me hope.

For real though, when I lived in Victoria I had to get my appendix removed. I drove to the hospital, checked in, got a morphine injection after about 45 minutes, put on a gurney and taken to the OR after about an hour and a half, then spent the night recovering in a private room. If I had been living down in the states and was uninsured, that same trip would have cost me AT LEAST $50,000. Up here, all I had to pay for was parking overnight, or about $10.
Single-payer health care is not a bullshit scam people, it makes a very tangible difference in your life.

Coldwynn Frost it doesn’t directly translate to better living standards but having a strong economy is a necessity to provide a good standard of living for your people. IMO what really dictates the standard of living is the governments ideology, and how that sets policy agendas.
China obviously has a lot of quality of life issues so their growth doesn’t mean jack for the people suffering. I’m not debating that.
I’m just making the point that their economics work better than ours.
