  • Dear friends
I’m slowly moving out of PJ to make features, for the entire week I was in Perak doing my rounds in some towns. For this episode I’ll start with my hometown Teluk Intan. Although this is my hometown but I already left Teluk Intan 50 years ago, which means I’ve not been keeping track with the food there. Thankfully I have relatives and friend who were there to guide me. This episode wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Annie Lee, William Lee, Bernard Ho and Poon Chee Seng. I hope you’ll enjoy this episode as much as I’ve worked on it. Please go out and support the local street food. Be it in Teluk Intan or otherwise. Thanks and see you in the next.

During my young times in TA, I specially like the black "char kueu Tieu" at old glutton square. The yellow skicky rice at the morning pasar street. And of cause my favourite is TA only chee chong fun(now too expensive) and Mastan Ghani mee rebus. Keep up the good work.

Another great foodie episode and I enjoyed it a lot. Yes- I still refer the town Telok Intan by its old name - TELOK ANSON !!! Old habits is hard to change - I guess !!! This episode does open my eyes on other varieties of good food - can't help but salivate when viewing the Rojak stall ( liked those with kangkung and some cuttlefish in it - I call it OLD SCHOOL rojak ). Again - thank you very much Elmo for taking the time to do an episode at Telok Anson. It's not bad for me except the price is too high for a smalltown

A contradictory statement made on the chee cheong fun. Surely you would expect your video to cater to majority non teluk intan viewers. Is it appropriate to evaluate the price of the chee cheong fun from a local perspective ?
On the first stall selling coffee, wouldn't you say your opinion is conflicted as the stall is owned by your close relative ?

I speak my mind, so sometimes my views won’t b well accepted. But at RM 6.50 I’d want my viewers to know how ridiculous the pricing. FYI the stall next door is only selling at RM5. As for my cousin sis her coffee is indeed great, so what’s wrong with praising her

@@malaysiafood328 actually the price has gone down from the peak of RM7 before covid pandemic. I went to tapau just before CNY this year and the price was RM6. Looks like the price has gone up slightly since then.

@@malaysiafood328 Nothing wrong with praising your cousin.
I mean, we all watch your channel on food recommendation premised on the implied assumption that your views are credible, unbiased, fair and that they are all based on arms-length evaluation.
All of us are tourists at one point in time when we travel. Do we put on the cap of a local and refused the delicacy of each place because the price difference is RM1.50 ?
Just imagine we Msians go Tokyo and refused to buy a popular bowl of ramen just bcos the price difference is RM1.50 (equivalent in Yen) or a slice of famous pizza in New York for that matter, or any other similar experience.

If you ask Annie, she will know last time when my late father still around, both my dad and mom selling yong tau fu mee beside Weng Kee wanton mee stall. Missed my dad. Been more than 2 years didn’t go back ching ming. Now still stuck in Sg 🥺😢
