  • Dear friends
I noticed most of my audience enjoyed watching videos featuring foodie haunts on towns outside the Klang Valley. This is quite obvious because my features on Ipoh, Penang, Seremban, Teluk Intan etc. enjoyed encouraging viewership. On the other hand my viewership on night markets and bazaars were appalling. Basically I still can’t I anticipate which type of videos can inspire you. Hopefully you’ll find this episode compelling as much as I worked on it. Please go out and support the local food, be it in Kampar or otherwise. Thank you and I’ll catch you in the next.

Thank you for your video. We used to live in the town! Food was the best! My dad was born in Kampar. Wish I could visit it more often! Ate alot of Chinese food. Absolutely have found memories of Kam Ling shop and knew the daughters of the family. Lots of different famous family that all knew my dad. He spoke fluent Cantonese!!

Kampar brings back memories to me as a kid . Used to eat the chee cheong fun by the old cinema facing the padang followed by a bowl of pig's blood porridge by the roadside corner as well . Thank you Elmo for featuring Kampar's nice food . I will indeed include this in my list when i drop by Kampar . Keep those video coming ! Thank you again !

Just love your vids, not just food but the History of it too that is so unique unlike most other food review channels we see.
I think not all regiments in Kampar were Gurkha (Nepal) regiments but either mixed or different regiments (ie:- The Sikh regiment of the British Indian Army etc). Just looking at those black & white pix.
Wonder what happened to the Rex theatres? Had one in seapark, PJ if I am not mistaken.

A good stopover at Kampar to savor some of the famous food stalls there and also to Temoh for their famous buns. It's not so easy to find the Nam-Yue Pau ( bun) and it is even more difficult to find a GOOD Nam Yue Pau to satisfy one's need nowadays. Apart from that - a great summary for the audience to get a taste and glimpse on the historical part of Kampar. Good one Elmo. I shall drive in to Aston settlement to try their Chee Cheong Fun when I pass by Kampar the next time so as to compare it with the Telok Anson "so called tourist" famous tar pau one. Again- thank you Elmo for your effort to put up the video for this Kampar episode. Stay safe and stay healthy !!!

Thank you for sharing, Elmo! You definitely bring back many childhood memories for me! Yes we used to sit around the old market place for breakfast for hours! Great historical commentary and the vlog and selection of the stalls are just incredibly well done! 2 thumbs up! Anyone remember the bakery stall at the corner of Jalan Gopeng facing the field? Used to buy freshly baked bread and the most amazing kaya. Not forgetting the curry puff and kaya puff at the corner coffee shop at Market street.

Due to poverty (sort of), I didn't travel much during my childhood, let alone to spend a lavish holiday in abroad. But Kampar and Gopeng were the two places in Perak I frequented most with my late dearest mother and sometimes with my younger sister too. I still vividly remember the various good foods available in Kampar, "chee cheong fun (I believe it was home made unlike what we can find nowadays)", "Kampar liu fun料粉”, glutinous rice with cha siu叉烧/peanuts", just to name a few here. Local delicacies that served in the pasar next to the old bus station were so delicious that beyond any words can describe. Planning of going there again in few months time right after visiting my uncle in Gopeng to reminisce about the good old days in Kampar, and off course to look for good food in the new pasar too.
