- The moment of silence was a few minutes after the 3rd practice session of the 2019 Portland Grand Prix, roughly two hours after the death of Anthoine Hubert.
Indycar has no ties to the Formula series and yet, they still do this at a moment’s notice, so beautiful
You can say all of them (FOM and IndyCar) are member organisation of FIA. So that ties them up professionally. Other than that, aren't we tied together as human beings, creation of God? You are definitely right, beautiful indeed.
@@arshad_nazran indycar is an imsa series, not an fia series, so no ties. but racers all over the world love racing and put their lives on the line for it. Their love for the sport connects them, so if one falls, everyone pays respect.

But seriously, they should not only take off their hats (as they did) but also the sunglasses. Wearing sunglasses while mourning is an insult to some countries (with the exception of the familiy).

I remember from a server in iRacing that a league truck race with a whole bunch of strangers had a three-wide salute lap after they’d heard that Greg Hodnett died. The fact that they didn’t even know each other and still agreed to commemorate a real-life driver after his death shows how *big* said family is.

I think in this case it doesn't matter if they part of the FIA or not. The Racing community is a huge family who'll stick together no matter what

From Formula racing, to Rallying to Indycar, to Nascar, GT racing, Le Man to Daytona, V8 Supercars and Touring cars, and who could forget Moto GP, the spectator's, the supporters, the engineers and mechanics. Even if only some of us had the privilege to meet Anthoine. We all miss him. R.I.P. Antonio

Thanks F2 news doesn't get front page hear in the USA,I did not know it happened. Today,I saw the F1 highlights and thought he was being remembered from an incident last year or some thing,THANKS....
There weren't news in the US about a driver dying during a race? In Europe when any athlete dies or has a very ugly accident it appears on the news

Hats off to the Indycar family! I think Formula 1 didn't really pay enough of a tribute to Hubert, I was expecting more sorrow. Maybe Indycar people know death better, unfortunately.
Alessandro Spenga not quite sure what you mean by that. F1 held a 2 minutes silence before the Grand Prix, including his Mum and brother lined up with the F1 drivers. They also played the French national anthem as well as the Belgian national anthem in honor of Antoine.
@@RB747domme Personally, I think the moments of sorrow were gone pretty quick. A boy died there just 24 hours before... it wouldn't have been easy for me if I was driving. Just my personal opinion.

I know it needs to be captured but can the photographers take a breather for 60 seconds at least. It's not just motorsport that takes a minute silence but fans of motorsport in general, no matter what category or governing body you belong to. A racer died that day! RIP Anthoine Hubert.

He's a 22 year old f2 driver known as talented and sadly died in a race were he was fighting for F1 seat.
Luca Scarpellini who was last year's F3 champion, and a very talented driver. He would have been in Formula 1 very soon.

@@jorge8596 To be fair he died away from the circuit and months after the accident happened. We heard of Hubert passing very shortly after the accident and on the same day.
Imagine watching the replay of his crash and jumping into a car with way less safety $ invested...stay safe.
