    This video is a test of some premium brand ammo. I bought a box of each eley I could get my hands on and compared it to the three types of SK I could find in stock. There are shortages on a lot of premium rimfire ammo but as more comes available I’ll try to keep the test going.

    In our club Norma 22 is the go to training cartridge, cheap, highly reliable and accurate enough for technical training of ISSF sports pistol and 22lr rifle 50m precision. SK and RWS are also excellent, especially SK Rifle Match and RWS Pistol Match, Eley unfortunately is too pricey we never tried them.
    Sellier Bellot Club 22 is also decent ammo for the price.

      I've been more impressed with SK the more I shoot it. I don't have any Sellier Bellot at the moment

    Hi Phillip, thanks for sharing. I have tried almost all budget and mid-range priced ammo with similar results for my stock T1X. I found that Standard Velocity shoots best but on most days Standard Plus will give it a run for its money. These are my two “go to’s”. I haven’t really tried the expensive stuff as that’s not my cup of tea.

      try the norma Tac22, it slightly edged out the SV head-to-head in one of my other videos. Also, I think it's $60 for a brick of 500

    In all honesty a single 5 shot group won’t tell you anything really. You need to shoot a whole box of 5 shot groups to really know what each ammo with do. The best single group I ever shot was with an ammo that over 10 five shot groups wasn’t actually very good performer. If you only go off a single 5 shot group you ready don’t know much more than you did when you started. It’s expensive to do but you have to shoot more than that to know anything.

    • @Philip_Corley

      I agree with you that it would be better to shoot 50 instead 5, that's true. Or shoot 100 instead of 50. However, I don't agree that I know nothing more that when I started. The information obtained has statistical significance. When all the ammo is shot in the same way the winner happening by chance alone and not by significance would be considered rare and "extreme". If I were gonna use this gun to shoot a match my practice sessions would consist of enough rounds to expose a situation like you are describing. I appreciate you bringing up a good piece of advice though.

      @@Philip_Corley the reason I say you don’t know is because you haven’t fouled the barrel as well as you could shoot a .4 group and then the next ones increase to .5 and beyond. All ammo will produce a stellar group every now and then. With that being said I don’t know how you gain anything with a single group swapping ammo. I don’t see any gain it statistical info.

      @@deanrickvalsky7586 I'm starting to think you did not watch all the videos on ammo testing or listen to the commentary. I talk about barrel fouling and the different lubes they put on bullets. I talk about shooting additional groups to confirm test results. I talk about all the points you are trying to make. Velocity consistency is very important to rimfire accuracy and still to this day I get the best groups out of the sk hv. The winners at 50 yards still win at 100. The winners of 5 shot groups still win the 10 shot groups. I don't know what to say because my responses are sounding like an argument and I'm really not arguing I'm just telling you what my experience has been. Thank you for commenting and I'll try to do some more experiments with bigger group sizes because i'm sure others are thinking the same thing you are saying.

    My CZ 457 and my friends Bergara B14 both do good with SK Pistol Match. Your first group with the SK may have been big because of going from the Eley ammo with a different lube. Great video!

    • @Philip_Corley
      @Philip_Corley  Před rokem

      I have noticed the odd round or two when changing brands due to lube. I think some are beef fat, some are petroleum based, and some are beeswax. I wish I had a comprehensive list of all the mfg. and what bullet lube each one uses.

    I ordered a Tikka T1x, and I asked the FFL guy, have you ever seen any Lapua or SK 22LR ammo? No, never. So what you have laid out is the only ammo I have seen Norma Tac 22; Alaska-The Last Frontier.
