  • Down at the farm shooting a bunch of .22 LR ammo with my Ruger 10/22 from 50 yards with the gun in the Lead Sled. Some ammo was good, some was better and some was so so. You decide. Thus, if you put my mediocre shooting along with so so ammo, no wonder I can't hit the small targets! But hit or miss, can't beat being out shooting!

      @@bobcatforever3485 that's how it should be, albeit, on a calm day, with same rifle throughout. Fine job overall. Very rare, shooters use every ammo they can find. Need to say, no two weapons are the same. Can't arbitrarily say what works well for one machine will work the same in another. Should do that for every rifle you have. Again, fine job. Thanks.

      Same here. Out of the big 4 major U.S. brands (Remington, CCI, Federal and Winchester), Winchester usually gives the worst accuracy from any type of firearms and the least reliability in semi-auto firearms. This is from my over 30 years of shooting 22 LRs in 20 different type of firearms.

Not a fan of the stock irons (poor sight radius), and couldn’t hold much of a group with them. Good video! I've been shooting the CCI Blazer with my 10/22 at 100 yards with aperture sights for a while now, results of this test were exactly what I expected. Same with the Stingers, they ended up being less accurate like in the video. I first started shooting Remington and then Winchester bulk box jacketed hollow points but I got sick of finding bullets loose or cocked in their shells and they were also giving me a failure to feed at least once per mag with some bullets getting the jacket marred or scraped off by the mag feed lip. I do have an old Marlin Bolt Action from the 50's (tube feed, that will run shorts, longs and LR). Also, my henry says it will run shorts (but have not done so myself). Bob. Thanks Much. I appreciate your viewing and commenting. Thanks, the eyes are probably doing fine for my age. Two things I need are warm weather without rain and number 2, is to just shoot better! Not much prospect of nice weather in the long-range forecast and you never know about my shooting. Thanks again for the kind words and we will hope the weather comes around. Take care.

      Keith. Thanks. I appreciate your taking a look. I agree with you those are good ammos. I have a couple guns that like a little hotter ammo and the Mini Mag's handle that well. For group shooting I like the CCI Std Vel. I don't have as much experience with the Agulara. Thanks again and take care.

    I did watch this video when you just posted it and now again. It is nice to see the competition shooters with their expensive competition rifles and expensive ammo, but it does not really apply to me. This is more in my line with a run of the mill rifle, affordable ammo and a average backyard shooter like myself. This I can relate to and know what to expect when using these ammo.

      L.V-Rider. Thanks For Viewing And Commenting. I agree with you most of us do not have an expensive precision rifle. My most costly rifles are my Ruger 10/22 and a Henry lever action both were likely around $300 or less. Probably like you, I just enjoy shooting and .22's are really fun and low cost compared to other ammos. A few days agon (when it was warm) I shot four ammo that I don't believe I had ever shot before out of my 10/22 (video to follow once I edit). Thanks much again and take care.

      @@bobcatforever3485 I also took up airgun shooting last year and enjoy it very much. Here in South Africa .22LR ammo became very scarce and expensive. Quality airgun pellets are costing way less than .22LR so I can shoot much more. I did not buy those expensive PCP stuff with everything going with it, just a break barrel in 5.5mm.

      @@L.V-Rider Good idea to move to an airgun when ammo gets out of control. About 6-months to a year ago it was difficult to find any ammo and it was 3 times more that normal. We are still paying 1.5 to 2 times what it should be. There is still some ammos that are difficult to find. Standard handgun ammo (.380, 9mm, .40) are in abundance now but still cost more than it should. I have a small air rifle that you have to pump up, it goes at ~650 fps at best. I would like to get a good break barrel gun. Thanks again and nice talking with you.

    Good job! I woould thiink a ten round shot group test would be a better percentage group test. But still a real good test. Thank-you! You give me some ideas! Question; did you clean the barrel between each series?

    • @bobcatforever3485
      @bobcatforever3485  Před rokem

      S Schuppel. Thanks. I appreciate your viewing and commenting. I agree, 10-rounds would probably be a better test, get a bit more of a spread but would still be equal for all the ammos. I did not clean the gun during this test, so the later rounds came thru a dirtier gun. Also, I did not clean the gun at the start of the test. Thanks again and take care.
