Foie Gras, Foie Gras, & More Foie Gras: Chef's Night Out in LA with Faith & Flower

- Executive chef Michael Hung, and his team at Faith & Flower, have won about every accolade a restaurant can achieve in its first year. In this episode of Chef's Night Out, Michael and the crew head out from their Downtown LA location to cover some serious ground in just one night-and eat a ton of food along the way.
With the foie gras ban in California recently lifted, the guys chow down on the delicacy at the newly opened Terrine in Beverly Hills. Then its off to Union in Pasadena, where chef Bruce Kalman nearly destroys the group with a massive 16-course meal (and more foie gras). Finally, we trek back to Hollywood to polish off a magnum of Champagne at Pour Vous before arriving back at Faith & Flower for our final meal, which-surprise!-features even more foie gras. How's that for a little decadence?

Michael Hung seemed really cool and mellow. Not really sure what to think of the other guys he was hanging out with.
Chef Chris Oh (Seoul Sausage) is cool! But you're right, hermano, hanging w/ the investors doesn't make for a great Chef's Night OUT ...
these guys had FUN! and how cool is Michael Hung, genuine about himself and his restaurant and new experience here in LA.. Can't wait to eat at Faith and Flower!
"Why don't you shut the fuck up? How bout that?"
Lol Bruce Kalman is the man. I remember seeing him on The Grill Iron. Would love to eat at his restaurant one day. Overall I thought this was a great episode. Most food I've ever seen in an episode of Chef's Night Out
This probably had some of the best looking food I have seen in a few episodes. Those Burgers in Seattle was nice as well.
I was about to comment that. Every dish just looked absolutely amazing.
What's the episode of the burgers?
Folks who find inspiration and then have the guts to go after it are inspiring
lol @ the three blazeheads that 'kinda stuck around' 🍁💨💨 11:56
Munchies is coming? I better wear a weak ass suit with a horrible scarf, buy a huge bottle of champagne and show off my love for foie gras...
I know, right? These guys totally know how to represent L.A. and what munchies is about. lol
how do you know he doesnt dress like that everyday? why the fuck do people like you sub to munchies and leave stupid ass comments like this?
Lol. His choice of clothing did made me uncomfortable. Dressed like 19th century oil inheritance money's incarnate.
lomilias Dude that's a bit negative and judgmental from your part. Things is he's harming no one and he seems happy doing what he does. Why don't you be a bit open minded and let it slide
awzzzmyjawzzz A lot of people would disagree with your statement that he's doing no harm by the simple fact that he's eating so much foie gras.
What wrong with these “chefs” how can they keep on eating after a 15 course meals. That one chef is really humble. I like him.
Best looking food on a 'chefs night out' so far!
humble guy, really fun episode and the food looked awesome!
I fucking love this channel.
I'm eating Stouffers right now.
+Tom Brady Agreed, to say it is bad for something prepped is sacrilege
5 years later, I hope it was delicious.
9:44 maybe the most idiotic/obnoxious comment ever said in a chefs night out episode. Why the hell would you say that to the chef after he served you his entire menu.
The pasta spot was a gut buster ☺️💛
Why I love being European. No silly bans on stuff like fois.
fois started in Europe a couple hundred years ago........
The ban was only in California... So your point?
Except it's banned in lots of European countries. Austria, Norway, UK, etc.
Production. anyway.
Christoffer Hødal Not banned in Austria.
I think Paul might have just misread this thinking that Andrew was saying fois gras is silly.
Its people like these that makes the world turn arround!
Funny how the Korean guy got shot down over the 'let's do shots' comment, the others were like err no hahaha
I would have supported him... lol... But also he looks like he may be the youngest out of all of them... But, idk cause he is a person of color and they all aren't so it's hard to tell... Lol people seem to age differently
Funny how ?
I really love this channel
That Michael dude seems nice and humble, while everyone else just seems a bit pretentious
The food looked great!
Meal at the end looked so good
holy shit 1985 Veuve Brut. My favorite vintage.
Opening scene is epic
Oh my goodness, I'd love a night like this....then I could die happy
This was cool. I´ve had a few nights of this caliber to remember. Great ideas thank´s
Now Im hungry :D
Incredible food
this guy is cool seems so humble
Good guys 🍸🍸🍸
Truly interested in Vice Munchies doing a follow-up on all of their Chef’s Night Out series a year post-Covid. While I don’t want to doubt them, I couldn’t see these suits surviving the Newson CA shutdown. Hopefully they can still deliver good food to the privileged.
Loving to check som old '' Chef's night out '' ... shout out to Vice!
head chef of escala was there too! munchies crossover!!!
i laughed so hard when he said how do u dial 911. funniest accent ever
Go to a cocktail bar: brings own champagne
5:42 omg they have local housemade tartar sauce?!
" you got the munchies yet or what" Damn they should have smoked before they started
Poor guy had his bosses push themselves into this
Is the Foie gras ban over? Love it.
is there such a thing as sunny side up game? because his sunny side up game was on point.
Wish they would have visited more restaurants here in town, and drank more. There are so many to choose from! The Chef's Night Out episode in Paris with Simone Tondo was so much more entertaining. So many more places visited and so much more alcohol consumed!
There was another Chef's Night Out in LA! They visited a lot of places around DTLA!
Wasnt that guy from Seoul Sausage on The Food Truck show??
Muchies music interludes are garage band loops lol
I love watching these vice munchies for two reasons...
1) generally the food is pretty awesome and the restaurants they go to look pretty cool, if not a little pretentious
2) I have no doubt in my mind that these chefs and the people they go out with in these shows are socially inept weirdos
Bronson all damn day!!!
Are you guys filming with the sony a7s now? There's so much more light in the shots! Or is it just me..?
13:20 Jake Gillianhall?
A really outstanding FOOD episode. It's great to see California has regained sanity and has foie gras back on menus where it should be. Innovative restaurants all. "This is what white people do to have fun?" I wouldn't open that door. LOL. Keep sharing these videos. Blessings ChefMike
they tried to ban foie gras on my city (I live in Brazil), and but failed miserably, thank goodness!
This series should be called Hipter's Night Out
These guys aren't hipsters they're just losers. At least hipsters usually have some fashion sense, one of these guys is wearing an Abercrombie and Fitch t-shirt under a business man's blazer and the other is wearing a clip-on bow tie.
Union's food is so rich and heavy. Theres a reason the chef is huge. It's good, but gets painful towards the end of the meal.
it's all nice and dandy but the reality of any restaurant/food business won't go away. It's always the same trend, restaurant starts to get popular, word spreads, more people come, more staff, more expenditure, then suddenly it tapers down, people get bitter and fired, sunk costs, food starts to suck, then boom its out of business. Seems like the only successful restaurants were the ones that chose to sell the brand licensing and not at all involved with food at all, and even in the franchise game, most do not last.
lmao you're so right.
That's a lot of foie! I don't know how they could keep eating it given that it's so rich. Great episode though!
You can't tell me this guy doesn't sound like Ryan Gosling
Everyone getting so mad because of foie gras.... Yeah, it may be kinda mean... BUT IT TASTES AMAZING! ;)
Is that wagu at 2:06?
At 6:37 I thought that was a mouse running in the mirror on the wall
Gosh these people are intimidating
Heard this place no longer exists. In fact a lot of the restaurants featured on vice munchies from like 8-9 years all closed down.
Chris Oh is dope af, would love to cook for him
a 2 to a light 3
Funny how negative comments can get about a food video.
You clearly haven't watched many munchies videos. I swear the comment sections are something to behold. I guess it's a bad case of foxes and grapes...
Bobognargnar Actually I have watched a lot of these videos, so I realize how negative the comments can get sometimes, which I think is a little strange since they're just food and drink videos that we're watching presumably because we like food and drink. Sometimes I think people watch these videos just to make negative comments about hipsters.
Yeah, very likely. I for one just enjoy looking at the great food and getting some cooking ideas. And no criticism on the people in the videos, for after all... why should I? They're enjoying themselves for a video on food, a day off from the drudgery of restaurant owners/workers, good for them! @@Bobognargnar
Heyheyhey what are the titles of the tunes?
Seems like a cool guy, but maybe not what he would have chose to do on his night out. CNO doesn't have to fit a mold, but it should be planned out a bit better. The food he prepared at the end was some of the best final food yet!
its nice to see Americans eating decent food
I much prefer the older episodes of Night Out where it was a bit more gritty and less "arranged" and "show off" feeling; the episodes where the chefs weren't thinking about going back to where they work and cooking for everybody else. This episode felt particularly sanitary and boring. In fact, I would rather see an old style episode with Bruce from Union.
Union is the best restaurant in LA
10:49
Foie Gras is good however I have gout so that is a no-go.
I thought everyone was exaggerating when they said this channel was nothing but hipsters.. I was really wrong.
I like when he said Kielbasa Sausage, because Kielbasa means literally sausage in Polish :) and yes we have got AMAZING sausages. Google it :) or better yet, try some :)
Yup. It's like when people say "please RSVP".
Turbo Lazer Problem is, Polish people are notorious for their hatred of tourists.
who cares
why is there austrian beer/radler?
damn viets and koreans look different
oh brave new world
Negative comments made here by people who think Taco Bell is the best.
I would straight puke if I ate that much.
Can we get the restaraunt name in the title?
I just hope all his future predictions work out because you never know shit goes it own way
do they have to pay the bills after they eat or the owners compt them? Or Munchies pay the tab?
considering they go to places where they are buddies with the owners/chefs; pretty sure it's comped.
ZENSX Maybe Munchies fronts the bill.
Idgaf about no god damn ducks
Do these people ever eat anything they don't like?
everythings they've eaten in the French restaurant wich was amazing, french people can buy it from "the french walmart" and it pronounce Foie gRas not Foie gWas
Hipster's?
Chef is hot!
Dem salty peta tears. P:
When did foie gras become legal again
2012
All hail foie gras and fuck foie gras haters.
douchiest epsiode yet ,vice ;P
"This is what white people do for fun."@10:45 I couldn't stop laughing.
kylbasa sausage = sausage sausage
This looks like going out with your boss on a night out, good food- shitty company
foie gras is amazing, I'm glad it got unbanned it in California
Oh God, how I hope this series goes on but this guy seems SO arrogant. I mean his restaurant seemed nice but Jeez.
someone(s).........doesnt seem comfortable...completely obvious....two dudes in a Munchies episode?? theres a monetary issue, no doubt
Friends, do not even understand Portuguese to understand the video .... think about it .
These guys were not eating they were swallowing food like teenagers!
Faith and Flower is an awful name for a restaurant I don't care how good the food is.
are these hipster looking dudes trained chefs or what?
The way they all pronounce foie gras is so fucking weird haha, "fwah gwaaa".
Food porn fo sho. This short clip embodies every reason I'm a fat american
Can't hate on fois gras, as I've never tried it. Looks god damn delicious though. Factory farming is far more savage. What really pisses me off here is the way that one hipster douche bag is dressed. Bow tie, scarf, and blue jeans? What a twat.
So... what do you all do to insure that chicken, beef, and pork you consume is not torture? I'm sure those animals wanted to die ooohhh sooo much more than the ducks did which makes it okay to eat then and then judge someone else for eating meat.
It's perfectly okay to kill the duck if it's not force fed.
faith and flower is not the frontrunner of restaurants in the south park area. gtfo.
