This guy deserves his success, so humble and laid back. This was definitely one of the better eps. of Chefs Night Out
you should have seen the episode when it was still called munchies that him on it. He really fucked up his hand and kept cooking like a savage.
True. One of the better ones and cool dude. The food also looks great. I miss San Francisco man.
OG Munchies was so good, but I do like the newer variety
Kudos in order for his cute wife as well....
Agreed! Food looked legit too.
The Chinese character for his last name is "周". Like he said "Jiu" is his grandfather's original spelling in English but some inbred moron at "immigration" probably decided to have some fun with old men Jiu when he came over as a young boy. In Mandarin it is spelled as "Zhou". This is due to slightly different pronunciations between different dialects in China, but the Chinese character itself is one universally.
Cool story bro.
nah he's a chinese jew
Not all American speak Chinese, you know.
Es wurde an den Koch des Video adressiert.
I think you mean Zhu. Zhou would be pronounced somewhat closer to "Joe."
I trust a chef who keeps an Aussie cook, just to make him some beer batter..
Jiu - Jew.. That's some Larry David shit lol
I'd arrive in you.
"Thats like if my last name was Jew"...the episode when he met the 'blacks'
I have a coworker whose surname is quite descriptively Brown...
Casey, what's your Instagram? for scientific purposes of course :D
Hahah so true...........Also i cannot wait for the new season.
I love that he talks about how he changed his last name back to what it originally was (Jiu), but in the title and description it's still 'Jew'
He meant for the name of the restaurant
I love this video. Brandon is so talented and not pretentious at all like so many chefs. And yes, his wife looks like a model.
First, I doubt the dog is walking around during actual service
Second, I appreciate the dedicated Aussie for the beer batter
Third, way to many comments about this mans wife, let her live cot'dammit
a dog has no place at a restaurant's kitchen is all..
the dog is probably cleaner than the food you buy.
because we are talking about restaurant with a sanitary license and not your own dumb kitchen
Fucking DISGUSTING to have a dog in the kitched.
How so?
Harajukafist And people don't have germs on them? There are plenty of shit-particles on us too.
Would you not eat food made in your kitchen if there was a dog there?
if it is kept clean why not. if your dog goes to your kitchen are you going to kill it?
+Jerry Heng yes
+BoxingPanda then you're the disgusting one
I'm so glad he said "chinese food deserves respect" as opposed to "chinese food need innovating"
"How's that mocktail?"
"this is ... okay... umhm it's good, yeah"
This guys got an awesome attitude, and a really good episode too
Lol love how he recreated McDonald's fish filet and chicken nuggets with sweet and sour at the end!! I really wanna try his versions!
dog in kitchen.."hello inspectors..pls have a visit soon"
Wanted to see more of alfred's and liholiho, but dig Brandon's mission to bring some excitement to the chinese food scene.
this was soo awesome
All the food looked on point, next time I'm in SF I'm going to try all of these places!
good people and a great episode
I love how Brandon's wife looks at him with utter love and care. When you have a love of a woman, she will love you and be yours with respect. that look, that warmth is something I only had with my ex. The passion, the craft that Brandon brings...a good woman see's a woman who is passionate and loves him for it. Can't help but support the fam. Good on you guys!
awesome episode. very sympathetic
this was a dope epi
Holy shit! watching this for the first time and thought I recognized the sous chef, Sara Hauman. She's been killing it on Top Chef Portland!
So very stoked I get work for this Man👊
his wife is beautiful
+JYC422 fuck you honestly
+JYC422 Damn she was born with just nipples, where is the rest.............getting back to his Asian roots I guess?.....respect.
+MNVikings612 if that's Brandon thing then it's Brandon's thing. His type of girl.
Wendy Cheng I said he was getting back to his roots
Well, different types please different persons.
"It's HELLA busy" - Tony
Cheers from Oakland, CA
Really cool, like real American-Chinese and not Chinese food-Americanized
definitely coming here the next time I'm in SF
That end of the night food looked Aamazing
Brandon Jew be Asian. What a time to be alive.
Ann seems like a happy, loving person. She also seemed to be a little nervous. A lot of the time Brandon's friends had no problem talking over her. I believe that because she is so attractive, people immediately jump to nefarious conclusions.
Opening a restaurant is one of the most stressful things a person can do. Especially their first one. A business cant be as successful as Mister Jiu's with out the owner having solid support. Ann & Brandon appear to have a strong partnership. I would go as far as to say that this relationship is the backbone of Mister Jiu's success and vision.
I like to imagine there's some badass story about his last name. Like his ancestor was some Tarantino - esque killer of Nazis during the WW2 and then after all the killing he wanted to start over and when asked for his name at immigration he said "I'm the Jew".
Reminds me of that scene in The Sopranos when Mob boss Phil Leotardo is explaining to some kids at a party about his grandfather coming to NYC as a immigrant and the family name was Leonardo but somehow they wrote the name down as Leotardo...
that food at the end, perfect drunk snacks
I met Brandon at his restaurant and he was such a nice person. After he took me upstairs to meet his dog roux.
50 % of the comments are about how lovely his wife is
The man asked for filtered hot water at a bar😂
one would think it would be unhygienic to have a dog walking in and out of the kitchen. I would not eat there at least
My dog walks around my kitchen. I eat food from there. Also, it's not like it's there during service, that would just be stupid. Recline yourself, my man.
Pub's sell food and in the UK pub's let dogs in, dose that mean you wouldn't drink in a Pub in the UK?
Yeah and I bet he didn't wash his hands after he went out drinking and to dinner before he started handling that food.
Idk sanitation standards are nice, but I've had bomb food from a lot of dirty af food stalls in asia and I wouldn't change a thing.
+Ian M Damn right Ian. Some of the best food I've ever eaten was from roadside stalls in Paharganj,New Delhi, fresh crispy roti & shish kebab so fresh it's still twitching...
Food looked good at the end. Most chefs be giving out simple dishes with little variety at the end.
I like that nerdy guy with the glasses.
damn good episode
I really want to see Alex Atala do one of these in Brazil, it'd be sick
Im seriously considering becoming a chef, but a lot of whats held me back has been being scared of really intense restaurants and shitty people working there. but this made me feel better about the cooking world. i might just stay away from really ponsy fine dining places.
Dosent matter where you go, you will always work with shitty people and it's going to be stressful work anywhere. Take a personality test and see if you have one that's suited to working in an environment like that
My first job was a prep chef, I was good at it but I realized that cooking was only a fun hobby for me
Gotta pay your dues where ever you go.
dude is a genius
Good thing I live near SF. :3
did brandon jew already have a chef's night out? or was he a guest on another chef's episode?
He is the first full Asian I've ever seen with an actual beard.
This man's soul is absolutely gorgeous.
Brandon and the tony guy are like complete opposites. They seem like they could be in a sitcom about two best friends.
Im down with a dog in the kitchen as long as it doesnt wind up on my plate 🐶
the food at the end though...
i fucking love this shit XD like munchies is my favorite food channel for like cool people and delicious food.
Salmon and Sorrel, salmon and sorrel, Salmon and sorrel!
Salmon and sorrel is the classic French Nouvelle Cousin dish by the Troisgois brothers, he should acknowledge where he gets his ideas.
i'm not sure if this helps cure, or adds to my depression. i will continue to watch it for another ten years and ask the same question again most likely.
You are so lucky BJ
I would love to cook some of this stuff on my German MukBangs!
german.. muk bangs... ? with sausage n stuff? lol
MusingsofaJay♡ Yes, and Brezeln and Mustard :P
howthingslooklike oh baby!
nooicee
a sliver of fish, a tiny potato and a wilted leaf. yeah very demonstrative of what you do
tony just cant keep his mouth shut hes so adorable
SUCH NICE PEOPLE Y E S
A Chinese restaurant called Jew? It's like Christmas all year round.
His wife irks me, but I feel bad about it because she has this weird innocence about her and seems like a nice person.
Something is just a bit off though.
Like Taylor Swift 🐍🐍
Potassium Gaming I don't know about that.
She seems pretty slow or something.
she may be a functioning pill popper; notice at 8:06 she is not present at the table, which likely means she is in the restroom doing a line or 2 of cocaine.
High Pitched Baby Voice = Molested as a child or bat shit crazy. (Some exceptions of course lol)
Oh good a dog in a restaurant.... fantastic. oh its a mascot? yeah real fuckin cute.
gorgeous wifey bro
Just going to break it down. Everyone in this video is awesome. People just hate that Brandon has a supportive wife who loves him and that he is asian and she is Caucasian. Knock it off with the jokes, just admit that if you work hard, be honest, and a good man - you end up winning in all aspects of life.
cutest dog ever😍😇
Sarah was on top chef omg!
the puppy
SQUAAAADD
Haha. "mole with a white hair growing out."
Im jealous of your wife and your restaurant, props to you brother
beautiful wife ayyee
she is not attractive at all.... why do people put white people on a pedestal. She is an average white girl
she's ok. now explain what this has to do with race?
+Kibs Kibs its all preference. i think shes pretty. but also as a man who likes petite girls, she has a body of a fuckin toddler. i hated her mannerisms too.
+Kibs Kibs frankly, its nvr about race. i personally find his wife beautiful. that is all.. hmm
+Kibs Kibs an average white girl ? fuck tell me where you live mate.
OY VEY
Thought the dog would be the next meal
You mispelled the chef's last name in the title
Yo I think you guys have the title wrong hahaha
His girlfriend looks like she's just getting her drivers license
Haha his last name is Jew
lol
Winston every comment is about his wife but urs is the diamond in the rough
he said he changed his name back to Jiu, right?
Filet-o-fish and chicken nuggets with sweet n sour sauce...if that's not iconically Asian American I don't know what is
He looks like a chinese Brendon Urie he even has a name close to his
12:00 steam bao's or bao zi (包子)
I swear people hate just because their having fun
trifling you have a dog near the food in the kitchen
Tony, the Chinese Larry David
He's lost a ton of weight since the last time I saw him on s MUNCHIES. I think he was on the Danny Bowien episode. Danny lost a shit ton of weight too. Very cool.
An app to check on his kitchen team is a step to far!
Kinda sad they didn’t show more of the doggo
let me assure you. they didn't cook him.
His last name is Jew
i didn't jew it coming
did jew just say that
What Jew guys talking about?
jesus was a jew if jew know what I mean
jew-b-ques opening soon
Wtf is Jiu? From the Chinese character at your restaurant it's either Zhou (China) or Chow (Hong Kong)
Isn't that Simone from tested @ 12:18?
his girl and marzia act alike haha
did he say the salmon was confit....pretty sure it was sous vide!!! am i wrong?
can't confit salmon, duck yes. it did seem sous vide, then he says if you don't follow technique it ends up like dog shit...
hi
I wonder if he got paid for any of that food he made.
TOTALLY F........;;;;;;;;;;;D UP IS THIS MUNCHIEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Why would you spell his last name incorrectly?!!?
The sober dude just will not shut up
LOL yuet lee. my sister broke a plate there once and we never ever went back.
MusingsofaJay♡
did she broke in an accident or on purpose?
Anime Hentai voice confirmed
lollll
That's night out probably costed them like 1000$ each.
