I like your show, it shows some boat drivers can maneuver on to their trailers. I use the term boat drivers because too few boaters deserve the title of Captain. Hell, until I quit boating I had no problem launching and retrieving my boat, and I was an Airedale!

9:00 I don't have any experience with pontoons, but they often (always?)have the steering wheel on the right side. Why don't they just look over the edge so they can see the right side pontoon and the trailer? Wouldn't that make it easier to line up? I mean, all this guy needs to do is move his head 15 inches to the right, and he can see he's too far left.

Love the Big Dan show! Just found the channel 8 months later. and dam I Got a lot of catchin up to watch. #1 Mistake backin that trailer down to far! Keep the fender at water level watch your motor is straight before powering on. Be safe and patient! Watch and learn by your mistakes and try not to repeat them. Nobody was born an expert at anything.

I believe the SUV's with the deep trailers are simply utilizing the obscure "Michigan Great Lakes" technique, where you actually winch the trailer up to the boat.

There are many ramps that prohibit you from powering on the trailer. Idle on and winch the rest of the way. Saves the ramps from getting washed out, creating the drop off.
There's need some prot-a-pottys at this ramp. Dan got them dirty again.

Where exactly is that at around Pensacola? Funny how those ramps could easily hold 3 qualified launchers/loaders, but are used entirely by one most of the time.
Never seen a Blue Wave before, sharp standard boat.
P.S., I could of made it on your show last week, not launching/loading, just walking on the dock to get the trailer.

20 miles further from me than Pensacola. I watch another from Orange Beach with a fishing channel, he's never shown that ramp, just a smaller one and the pier, but mostly offshore fishing.

@@thercattrainer I've never pulled to Pensacola and launched, only been to 1 tiny ramp. It was near a large dealer/storage facility with what looked to be a yacht club to the west on a point. Was over a year after Sally but it was still closed, packed full of sand. Was working, seen a ramp sign just as I could take lunch, visited it.

Did anybody else learn to backup a trailer as a kid the same way I did, with their hand on the bottom of the steering wheel ??? If I want the trailer to go that way I move my hand that way. Anybody else???

I do not understand how you can’t get a pontoon straight on the trailer especially when your wheel is right over the starboard pontoon…just line yourself up with the bunks on that side and drive on.

Can't put the boat in, can't take it out.
I've only counted 1 boat that had a stern line.
Your dealing with a ramp that has a severe angle, current, add a lil wind, and you have all the ingredients for a cluster., and boy....it shows.
Why would you not have a stern line, to keep your boat from floating away, and to help trailer the boat.
We call them "rubberheads" around here.
Go to an empty parking lot and practice backing, BEFORE, YOU COME TO THE RAMP...,!!
