looking at the console I have a very strong feeling they might have taken some interesting anti-cracking measures at hardware level. Wonder if they have used a customized Dvd Drive with better encryption for firmware. Also wonder is the Dvd drive is connected directly only the motherboard leaving no sata ports to connect to.
I think that it was a smart move for Microsoft to upgrade their console instead of making a new system. Basically they just extended the life of the console so to speak. Its a better option to do so since the 360 has a lot of contracts with major companies and patnerships, and making a new console would be a waste of timeand money if this were to happen.
so this one just has some small edits to it, is the red ring dealt with? don't think it is since it is smaller. the reason for the red ring is for hardware over heating or damage do to lack of air flow and im not a sure making it smaller and more compact will help.

@Dizzie71 You can use your old gamertag on the new 360, you don't have to make a new one. You can transfer all your saved games to the new 360 via a transfer cable or a USB thumb drive.

Im not sure if its worth buying a new one for only 4 new things if you already bought an elite AND spent the £50 to get the new wireless adaptor (its a bit typical of money grabbing microsoft to release the new wireless adaptor even though they were releasing this built in wifi a few months later)
The only reason I would want a new xbox console is the game definition. A lot of game developers have to tone the engine down just for consoles themselves, and that takes away so much. Games look 10x better on the computer, and you can fit lots more people. More people more fun right?
@dude1092 Most probably, the rrod normally comes from overheating so if they made it so it is less noisy then the fan must not be working as hard + not as much mechanical action, so im assuming it wont get as hot.
@Marshmallowrex lol, that will be funny. I think that since they re-did the whole thing both internal and external, they were probably smart enough to fix the issue of the heatsinks as well.
@xXshamm3rsXx not really, it has the ethernet jack in the back but a strong built in wifi chip is awesome, saves me the trouble of wires. Do you know what wifi is, its when instead of a high speed internet connection is spread by wires, you can get a router to spread a signal, thus making it wireless, IE wi-fi.
microsoft was smart for doing this(announcing a new 360 and having it ready to ship the same day). and the free 360 for everyone definitely gave them brownie points. yeah i wish i was there 2...
@eaq13295 well, the things we do know: LBP2, Killzone 3, Infamous 2(probably) are the major ones that most likely will be presented, but who knows, I definetley saw stuff I didnt expect in this presentation
@L3g3ndkill4 They said they are going to have some way of transferring all your data and such and probably the licenses so your Xbox can actually play everything you downloaded, even though its not on the same Xbox. Its just like the transfer cable now I'm guessing for the xbox to xbox now. lol

who else here think they should have said that the new xbox had built in blu-ray/with the ability to also play current dvd-xbox360 games as well as have games in the future made for it on bluray. also for everyone who doesn't want to buy another xbox for $300 because they already own a 360/or just bought one recently, they could have given them the option to mail their current 360 into them for a $50 fee and microsoft would send them a new xbox 360 s with bluray...a man can dream cant he?
