#Xbox360E #SE - Hry
The biggest advantage of the E is that it’s actually quiet. I picked one up to replace my OG Xbox 360 that sounds like a plane.
I recently out of noise reasons snapped the cables off a graphics card 4x4 fan to put an 7x7 on these cables. Would have maybe done the same to the Xbox at some age of it 😅
I remember exploring Academia in Final Fantasy XIII-2 on my original Xbox 360 and hearing it transform into a jet engine.
I rather have the system a bit louder and play all games correctly tbh.
My issue is that the E model has problems with some games to sync audio correctly which is a deal breaker for me!
It is, but not always.
Probably it's thermal paste that needs replacing. The one on mine has dried up completely when I took the unit apart. And it became significantly quieter with the new paste.
I still have my 'E', but I never knew there was a blue model. It certainly runs cool and quiet, especially compared to the OG 360, and feels wayyyy smaller, even though its still pretty similar.
Same, buddy. I kill to see a version with a internal psu, like MS did with One S and beyond
Never heard of the E
I do have a blue model it's really easy to scratch
A similar thing happened to the PS2 of 5000 series of models of PS2 are much quieter than the 3000 series.
I sold mine since I got the SX.
I put in so many hours on my 360 and have such fond memories. So many good Call of Duty titles, Alan Wake, Halo 3, AC Black Flag, Doritos Crash Course and many more!
HALO 4
I own all variations of the 360, the E is fantastic but clearly the most cut down version.
It’s a step backwards from the S for sure, but it still has it’s fair share of advantages over the original 360 model. If I could hypothetically never get an S model again I’d still most likely lean towards the E.
@@strykah92 While i had to fix rrod E and my falcon 2008 fat still strong with just a paste change
it's not as bad as the sliding door ps3 tho 😂

@@ac3d657 he did infact recieve his medal already from CZcams when he surpassed 100K subs, so that's something...
Something to note, while it's probably not much of an issue for the large majority of the console's library since it's rarely ever mentioned, but the late S and early E models (specifically the models with the Corona motherboard, I don't believe this applies to Winchester) has a few issues with the accuracy of some games, notably almost the entire library of Guitar Hero games which have an issue where the audio will desync with the rest of the game
Do you have a source at all for Guitar Hero glitching on Corona?
MS changed the audio system on the Corona revisions, and only affect to GH games developed by Neversoft (Only GH2 isn't affected at all).
@@arnox4554 I can tell you my source is playing it on both consoles. It's *very* subtle and won't be noticed unless you're a high level player most of the time, but it's definitely there. In my experience the issue gets worse the longer the song is, like the audio is dragging from the video.
Thats awful. Imagine an console thats not Itself acurate
@@GeordiLaForgery Unlike the S where the power input is slightly different I don't think there's any direct signs that tell you what board is inside of an E. I think generally speaking the consoles with a manufacture date after 6/2014 are Winchester but I'm not 100% on that
I got into Xbox with a 360E new because the price was that good around Christmas when stores were trying to get rid of them. Been a great system. Bought a used slim a couple years ago to play LAN. Really wish developers would add that feature back in to new games.
No $ there. Rather focus on online/dlc/transactions...
Halo MCC has LAN support
they rather want you to only play through their servers even if you are playing at the same house via lan.
How much was it?
IKR. How can these games be super advanced and not support system link.
If system link and server hosting were standard features, so many online games could be preserved
Very neat. I never had an E, but had the rest. my big complaint is that you can't upgrade them with any drive you want like on PS3.
But you can... They are standard hard drives inside of that plastic casing. You can slide in a drive with. I caddy and it will connect. You just need to stabilize it.
@@HunterAtheist Physically, yes you can connect any 2.5 SATA drive. However you have to use Microsoft approved drives, with specific firmware and specific data on the drive. You can modify some third party drives to work, however you cannot take an arbitrary capacity drive, say 2TB, and insert and use it like you can on the PS3. Having said that, PS3 has an upper limit of about 1.75TB.
You can still plug in a ≤2TB External drive though
You need a sata to usb adapter that's how you do it and if it is a fat HDD then you need a 12volt plug as well note you still can't play xbox original games without a special hdd so any size will do. i have a 20GB and then use an external HDD for the rest.
to use a white xbox drive (first model) you need to get a gamebit screwdriver of some kind and open the drive up then put some electric tape on it to make a tab so you can get it out if you ever want to remove the HDD.
IIRC you need a tool+software to make a hard drive xbox360 compatible (I still have the x360 usb pro from Xecuter that had that functionality and an ihas 124b to burn copies lol)
Got a 360 E in 2013 or 14 (forgot which) for christmas when I was a lot younger, I remember playing minecraft on it the first day we had it, still have it. Almost 10 years later it still runs quiet and plays games perfectly fine
@Modern Vintage Gamer side note: you can plug in an headphone in the av port of the e model and have good stereo sound
Thats how i got sound from my 360E when i was using an HDMI to DVI adapter
@NALTO Yes, I figured that out by accident because many TVs dont have that analog Headphone jack build in anymore. And since i want to plug in my Headphone directly in consoles instead of using adapters or external dacs, i was just plug it in and it works and sound amazing (i have a beyerdynamic dt 770 pro and a 900 pro x). But keep in mind that if you dont have a volume control on your headset/headphone, then you have to use the ingame sound control. Some games don't have that (halo 3) so it will be pretty loud.
omg this is extremely useful information, thank you!!
I used it with a ps headphone lol
The Xbox 360 E was my first 360, Got this back in 2013, and this was my induction to halo, I had some great memories with halo 3, reach, halo CEA, with my friends. Halo reach was my most played game on my 360, along side halo 3, even in 2013, thousands were still playing halo 3. I never had a 360 back in 2005 or 2007, because I had a wii, and my parents didn't see the point in me getting a 360.
But I remember watching my cousin back in 2007 play halo 3. I'll never forget the memories with my 360 E, it got me into halo, it made me a halo fan. As well as games like Skyrim and Oblivion.

I just got one off of eBay. My old 360 elite broke so I when ahead and went for the last model. They are still a decent price for a collector's item.
The 360, is tied in first place, with the NES, as my favorite consoles. Besides some pixel density, and a few other graphical advantages, games haven’t really changed much, since that generation. That generation of gaming, was the last time, I’d play a game, and feel like something was new and ground breaking.
6th dnd 7th generation was probably the last BIG graphical jump between a console generation, and that graphical jump is getting smaller, the only difference between 8th and 9th generations is just in order to keep up with what was already a thing in pc, like 60 frames per second or up to 4k resolution
So true I love the 7th gen. Got me back into console gaming in a big way. Owned the big 3, Nintendo Wii, PS 3 and my favourite of the gen the Xbox 360
Nah the PS3 is much better nowadays due to free online
@@JPX64Channel Ray tracing is the big leap these days I'd say but all these years of experience in non Ray traced lighting means that you can barely even tell the difference these days. It is nice to see consoles finally aiming for 60fps after being stuck at 30 for so long though. I'm an avid PC guy but I did manage to get a PS5 to play some of those Sony exclusives I missed and the 60fps marketing definitely helped win me over (I say that as I'm suffering through Bloodborne at 30 though).
it was the generation where devs already figured out modern controls and gameplay and was experimenting with new things. tbh ps1 era was "gotta learn how to use 3d", ps2 era was "gotta learn how control stuff in 3D" and x360 was when basics were all polished and devs were trying things. And then enter the two gens that aren't even any different from each other and everyone's afraid to try new things. At least VR still can amaze you in the same way, so at least there's that.
For the power efficiency, would actually like this model. Not to mention the added storage.
The lack of modding ability, however, is an instant deal breaker.
Able to run this Xbox360 off 95 watt inverter, which truly shows off the efficiency.
It can be modded, only the early E models. Not the laters ones.

There are modded Es out there it's just that they almost exclusively exist in Brazil. Some CPUs "fell off the back of a truck" before having their fuses programmed at the factory which meant an RGH / JTAG wasn't necessary because you could just program your own keys into it. The Brazilians bought up almost the entire supply of unfused E CPUs though so other counties only got unfused Trinity CPUs which could already be modded anyway.
Man, south america is just such a wacky place when it comes to the console market with their exclusives or weird homebrew stuff.
@@chrisguo5627 Yeah. Unfused 360s are really cool. They get instant boots with 0% failure rate every time since they aren't exploiting anything.

@@TeamHELPER I don't think their jesus christ could be called a homebrew, but it certainly is pretty cool.

Whoa, that's a beautiful console. I still have my OG 360, but this one sure looks amazing. Such a solid system!
Nice bit of gaming history information awesome vid mate
This was one of those console revisions I had no idea existed until a month or two ago!
I love the E. I was a Wii and PS2 kid. Didn't get a 360 until 2013 at the age of 11 because I thought I had defend my choice of console. Fun fact: I didn't understand how HDMI worked because I had used a CRT basically all my life. I thought that hooking up the composite cables into our new flat screen was "HD" and I was blown away by that. Imagine how shocked I was when I upgraded to Xbox One five years later.
HD composite 🤣
Sounds kinda like my dad who used HDMI but left it on the default 480p because he didn't know that setting existed. Blew his mind when I upped it to 1080.
I can relate, I got my Wii in 2010, PS2 in 2011 then got my PS3 in 2014 before getting an Xbox One in 2018. It wasn't until 2015 that I finally started using HDMI and it was incredible, it was also the same year my family got home internet too so that was when I could get the full experience out of my games that had multiplayer.
@@GenerationZ313 Dang it's crazy hearing stories like that because I sure didn't live in a super privileged home but we got hdmi probably in 2009-2010 and internet by at least 07 for sure.
As a kid in the 1990s, I did not upgrade from RF for convenience reasons, so I forgive you too, as long as we have learned since then.
That's a bummer about the multi-out port. On my S model, I've been having fun recently trying different cable setups, like component, or running VGA out into an old PC CRT.
That's actually the main reason I am thinking of switching back to a slim model and putting my blue PAL E into a display cabinet, right next to my Halo edition slim. All the HDMI ports are in use on my TV and I need one to connect my Switch to. The slim model could be connected using a component cable (which I still have somewhere).
VGA on 360 is dank it has more resolutions available than hdmi
At one time my wife and I were competing a bit over our consoles, so we got a black model E 360 so she could play her games on PS3 and I could have my own system. I loved the stupid thing, it was so much more reliable than previous 360 systems we'd had (and returned over the years). Totally worth it if you can find one, and that blue on blue finish is great.

It quickly became my little Titanfall machine (which ran better on 360 than on One, framerate-wise).
@@gabrieleriva651 Man, Titanfall on the Xbox 360 was awesome. I couldn't believe it could run so well on such old hardware. Bluepoint helped with the port, which always included 2 long loading screens at the start of every session
I got it at the Microsoft Store for 100€ shipping included in December 2015. It came with digital FH2 as you say. The manufacturing date is July of that year, I don't know until when they were producing them but it has to be one of the last XBOX 360.
I got mine boxing day,2015. i am surprised nowadays, that i had barely any game to play on it, i had only fifastreet and mcraft.
I got an E around 2015 when my original 360 got the RROD and I've loved having it to play older games without BC support. Definitely deserved its own video
The Xbox 360 E is interesting. I got one for Christmas a year after the Xbox One came out. My mom got it super cheap from Walmart and it was a great offline console for keeping at my grandmas house that didn't have internet at the time. It was more quiet than my Xbox 360 Slim, and still works perfectly today for the few games I can't play on my Series X
This console got me back into gaming for about $60 at a Goodwill. This machine also had built-in wifi. Some other notable games were Far Cry 2-4, Max Payne 3, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Metal Gear Solid 5 (yes you can play that on this system with an external hard drive) and the Dead Space series. Love this system!
It's also the last console to have a disc tray.
Do you know the future? Just saying... It's definitely the latest to have one, but who knows that will be made in the future

I watched this video with a smile as you described the specifics of the machine I've been playing for so long for the last few years, all the way back to 2013. Most people wouldn't know my machine when I told them I had the last Xbox 360 model, but, fortunately, because development on the console was at its highest by that point, I never had to worry about the ring of death, overheating, or such issues. It just worked well.
How good is it?
I’ve had my 360s for 12 years and got the red dot of death a week ago.
I love my 360 e. When games are installed to the hard drive, it's completely silent. Still play and use it today for games that aren't on the Series X backwards compatibility library and for the games that the 360 backwards compatibility supports. Also, the 360 controller is still my favorite controller to this day
I am a Playstation guy and I have all the Playstation models apart from PSP Go and PS5 ,but recently I got curious and bought an Xbox 360 S on eBay. Now I am not sure what to do with it - games are cheap and keeping retail would be fine, but modding it opens up a lot more possibilities.
Thank you for the video MVG, didn't know about this specific model!
No ps5 ? Sus
I wouldn't mod it. Modding a PS3 is way easier (if you have a phat or earlier slim model, for later slims or the superlim model you can't instal permanent custom firmware) and gives you basically the same options as a RGH Xbox 360, and you don't have to open the PS3 up. Now is the right time to start collecting for the Xbox360/PS3 generation, games are mostly still very cheap (with some exceptions), so you can get quite an interesting library for very little money.
I honestly did not know it was a store specific model. I picked up mine a few years ago for $30 w/out the box. It's been collecting dust since then.
Good deal
It's just the blue one that comes with 2 games. Not the entire console itself...

Great video, wasn’t even aware there was one last revision of the 360 E done in 2014.
I thought that you did a great job with this episode, and I really enjoyed it!
I actually managed to snag a 360E console recently. I wanted to get one because my old 360 model, which I picked up day one, has started to wear down with its incredibly loud fan noises plus the lack of HDMI support. I ended up grabbing this from a retro gaming store in mint condition for just $80, and now I can play games like Anarchy Reigns and JSRF on my current TV without any distractingly loud noises.
Honestly, this Xbox 360 E looks super nice. The base blue looks really nice and the teal parts on the top and bottom are definitely a color I love to see put together. I still haven't gotten around to getting a 360, but I think I honestly might pick this version up, it looks very nice
Does it have UNO?
Been an Xbox fan since the original and have the last 3 generations. I bought the 360E base model brand new from Best Buy around 2013/14, it was one of the last few things I bought there before the store closed down in my city. I still have the box, original packaging and receipt since I always treat my consoles like the day I got them. Although it shares a resemblance to the original Xbox One the physical power and eject buttons and lack of ports reminds me of the original Xbox 360, just newer and improved. My only con with this console is that the shiny plastic design is a fingerprint and scratch magnet. The 360 has been one of my major highlights during my teen years, good times!
I thought about the E when it came out, but the removal of the multi-out killed it for me, since I still have a full set of cables for that port (Component, VGA, RGB-Scart and the original Composite, if I'm in a masochistic mood), so I stayed with my S model, that still runs like a charm.
The 360 was launched in late 2005 and 2006 for other countries. Weather u like it or not
Just so people are aware, backwards compatibility for certain games is kind of hit or miss. Fable had audio and texture glitches. PGR games had massive slowdown in multiple car races, JSRF had texture glitching on the map, and Forza Motorsport is a little janky because it will crash pretty easily. It will just randomly show up with “Your disc is dirty, or damaged”. Good thing I still have the original Xbox too.
I grew up playing my dad's 360 and now I'm 19. I'm surprised that thing survived getting the RROD a few times! It still works today too.
Awesome video. But the top selling console of that generation was flat out the Wii though XD
Aside from homebrew the Wii was easily the worst console of that generation, goes to show people will buy most Nintendo products even if they aren't much good.
@@jimmelton5846 I bought the Wii at launch. Still today this is the only console I didn't regret buying on launch though. With games like Twilight princess and RE4. Nintendo still haven't caught up yet, the Switch is still way worse than the Xbox Series X and the PS5, from a tech standpoint. And they won't catch up in the near future, the Switch 2 is supposed to be on the same level as the Xbox One and PS4.
I saved up with my brother so that we could buy one and get halo 3.
Honestly some of the best memories ever.
My first Xbox was a 360 E and I got it Christmas of 2013. In fact this was my main console until Christmas 2020 when I got a ps4 pro. I still play my 360 very often but the fan has gotten pretty loud due to age I assume. I still love the console though and it gave me so many good memories.
I'm honestly still kinda proud of my last 360 (first one was a first revision with the Red Ring of Death and had been stripped to just the metal case with the components on a couple books to get it to stay on for any extended period of time, the second one my little brother used more than I did and the one this comment is about is my 3rd one), it was the Halo 4 special edition slim with the controller that I got at a pawn shop
I had an original 360 with 20GB HDD that died on me less than 3 years, I then bought an Elite with 120GB and an HDMI port. A few years later, a friend gave me his slim Xbox 360, and it became my main Xbox 360 since then. The elite is still alive, and I rarely play Xbox 360 games.
Edit: after turning on my 360 Elite it had the RROD even though it was in its box for around 10 years. It was definitely working 100% before I placed it in its box, but apparently it failed. I might try to fix and see how things go in the next few weeks.
After going through 2 white xbox 360's with overheating issues, I picked up a black 360 E that ran like a dream with no issues. It definitely was an interesting time for Microsoft lol.

Then go on to start my own similar projects when my time comes.
Was always curious about the model E when I used to sell games at the flea market, we would get asked and sold composite cables for the 360 to a few people, the problem was that some of them came back saying they were the wrong ones which confused us, they explained they needed an audio jack to composite we honestly didn't think that existed for the 360 until we found a model E

Forza Horizon 2 on 360 is STILL a masterpiece !!! The fact that the 360 also got Rise Of The Tomb Raider and other "Next gen" games was extremely impressive given it's age from 2005
Even 360 E models fail ?!
@@tonycrazy88 Pretty much any console can fail... For example, Sony once estimated that 96% of people NEVER clean dust or bugs out of their consoles. 68% of people play their consoles in rooms with enough humidity to degrade the electronics by 50% of it's lifespan, people keep them in tv cabinets without airflow, etc... most people don't like to admit it but they are usually contributing to the destruction of the console way more than the manufacturer.
@@Haywood-Jablomie I get that. But 360s are very prematuraly prone to fail...
@@tonycrazy88 The first release was prone to overheating, but they fixed that for the most part later on. I have 6 Xbox 360's from all kinds of models for my kids and only one failed so far . It was a 1st gen and my dumb son put a blanket over himself, the TV and the console as sort of a tent thing... He was sweating profusely and he barbecued the system.
Kids don't understand that consoles cost money to repair or replace, kids are free to make or replace. 😉
Getting serious Eiffel 65 vibes from that thumbnail
The console is blue, so what’d ya expect lol

The 360 E was my first console. The family had 360s before then of course, but the E was my first personal console. I traded it with my sibling for a PS3 Super Slim so I could play The Last of Us many years after I had transitioned to the One S and then to the PC and just the other day did I finally get it back. My first console, the exact same machine, is now the most recent addition to my console collection. It's currently sat next to my OG Xbox, and at some point it'll sit on a shelf with my NES, SNES, N64, Wii, Wii U, Master System, Mega Drive, and OG Xbox (the One S broke, then the warranty replacement broke, hence why I switched to PC, and the PS3 Super Slim is going to be replaced with an OG PS3). It will always have a special place in my heart as the machine that defined my first real steps into gaming.
Awesome video brother...God Bless
It really sucks Microsoft never added a proper environment for homebrew on the 360. I can get where they're coming from after the rampant modding of the OG Xbox, but still, something would've been nice.
But we do have it on the one and series system's
I never knew this revision existed, and now I must own one.
@MVG - The intro music is so cool, like the Halloween movies. 🤘🏻
I just love the synthwave songs you use on your videos, can you put the names in the description?
Don mattrick was buddying up with ea at the time. And was so arrogant to assume that the statement “if they dont want to be connected all the time buy a 360” would fly with gamers. Very quickly was he shown the door and the xbox one is a sad burn for microsoft that ruined them for that generation. Also extra points to sony for making fun of microsoft by doing a trailer of how to share physical games
And then the Xbox Series X brought back that always-online future (mostly) and then everybody looked the other way... >_> I haven't forgotten the XSX DRM.
@@arnox4554 The Bone actually kept it. Microsoft hid that truth.
I have that exact model and colour, didn't know it was the last one they made though! The motherboard revision name reminds me of what Intel used to call their CPU architecture :) Love this machine though, this generation started so many new game series great machines to collect for! :D
And still pretty cheap if you want to collect for them. You can get a bunch of really good games for PS3 and Xbox 360 basically for pennies.
I am a huge Fan of xbox modding (Original and 360). Iam very happy to see you making videos about it lately. Keep the great work up.
Great Video!
The e would have been even better it if had included a built in PSU. I have seen a few e's at the thrift stores, but they are always missing the PSU.
I wondered this about the 360 E too, but I guess (and I’m just speculating here) MS were still too paranoid about RROD-esque issues at the time. They had just spent billions/years solving overheating with the S and didn’t wanna take a chance trying an internal PSU only a few years later.
It’s probably also why the original Xbox One was so unnecessarily oversized and *still* had an external power supply lol.
Nowadays a 360 with an internal PSU would be convenient for the instances where any 360 games aren’t compatible with the Xbox One/Series X and would be easily swappable into any given setup, but it is what it is I suppose.
Jet Set Radio Future doesn't run great on the 360, though. It has severe slowdown in some parts, to the point of dialogue boxes being several seconds behind voiceovers.
I've never experienced this
I think dont quote me... but if you lower the consoles resolution to 480p itll play better.
@@corngames8982 What a great solution. Maybe it’ll be even better if you set it to 240p, or you could just turn off your television and envision the game running in 4k 240FPS inside of your head!
@@NijiDash my solution worked for me. But you do you bro.
99th street is unplayable. :(
great video as always
Another interesting video! Also, I love the song used in the intro/outro. Where can I listen to it and the other tracks MVG uses in his videos?
EDIT: Nevermind I see there’re all up on his bandcamp page!
I actually bought an E model since I was still on the OG fat one. I've gone through a lot of 360's since the original design just died so often.
finding a power supply for these things is impressively hard, i've had one that i found at a thrift store for like 2 years now and i have yet to find a power supply for it to see if it even works
at least i have a slim that works just fine
There is an adapter you can hook onto your existing power brick. I couldn't tell you what it's named though.
@@nubatman i've been looking for a long ass while and can only find them for the OG power supply to the slim or vice versa, or for the OG power supply to the E, nothing for S to E
What country are you located ? They sell them on Amazon US . It's a complete power supply specifically for the Xbox 360 model E . The specifications say : 110V-240V auto voltage "Global AC Adapter" . It's not Microsoft branded , but if you have nothing else it's an option .
@@bryanobrien2726 canada, however i've grown to massively distrust third party power supplies since they're typically made as cheap as possible. i also don't quite trust amazon since they markup things to ridiculous extent here, as well as not supporting the only payment method i can use, paypal
@@lol123406 Yeah , those 3rd party replacements can be sketchy . I ended up picking up a couple of used genuine MS power supplies last year and so far the one I'm using is holding up fine so you're probably better off trying to track one of those down . Ebay is the main option for paypal , though most people hate ebay too lol . Good luck in your search .
I got a 360E in black for my nephew few years back. I still keep the 360S for my kids with the Kinect and OneX for myself. All still working in perfect shape.
I have the Elite with the matching Wi-Fi adapter that still works and look almost new considering I had it since 2012, but it's a 2010 Jasper model when it was new when I bought it from eBay. It's a quiet console, but when it reads games the disc drives get a bit loud, as for its fans it is very quiet.
Great model overall, I'm just disappointed with the glossy half. Even if you're careful with it, it'll scratch very easily.
Glossy plastic should be band from earth never to be made again.
I've had a E model since they came out, and mine looks terrible now because the gloss plastic is scratched like crazy, although it was used almost 24/7 until I got a Xbox One in 2018
The reliability of the Slim and E models is really nice, but I just can't give up my original 360. The look of it gets me all hot and bothered with those curves and nostalgia is just so strong.
It's a late Jasper model so even though it's still susceptible to the rrod it's much more reliable than the earlier models and I have a second Jasper in the cupboard for if/when this baby dies on me.
Actually I think the disc drive is much more likely to fail on you first before any serious hardware failure on the Jasper models.
I swear, it's always the disc drive...
BROO I STILL HAVE MY BLUE model and the cod bo2 and host that came with it... crazy how i still play it till this day
I had this type of console when my mom bought my "first" xbox for me in 2014! It was pretty good and still works to this day.
I bought this exact model after seeing MVG show it off in a video years ago. Why? Because it’s blue! I’m shallow that way. Put it into my main gaming setup and put my existing 360 in the guest room. Love it! The only thing I dislike is that it can’t play ripped movies. It’s got a 500gb hard drive that I’ll never come close to filling. I don’t anybody can put 500gb on a 360.
I am actually waiting for colored version of Series X before buying one. Black consoles get on my nerves.
The color is very unique. I wish colors like this were more common.
??? i had a 1tb drive in my 360 and it was always full
@@MrTeamFoolish It's so Walmart blue that I could never own that shade. That said, I'd gladly go for a Xbox lime green system
Sadly, Corona boards already cut production costs, Winchester cutting even further. As a technician, I've observed far more reliability issues on these boards than Trinity (360S launch motherboard with glossy and chrome finish + some matte consoles released about 2011~2012), or even phat Jasper/Kronos motherboards. That's why I stick to my MW2 Special Edition, it's certainly a beauty and a beast
yep i am running a gears of war edition not a problem yet
I have a feeling that those last few releases of everything are most often in worst quality, because there is little fear of people complaining about it since there aren't that much made of it. It's better for a company to make 10.000 pieces of which 5% will have issues, than it is to produce 1.000.000 pieces and have 1% of people returning it because of some design errors.
@@coolcatbaron unfortunately it's just how the industry works. Even on last gen, Xbox One S seems to be much more prone to failure than its VCR brother, and i've seen many PS4 slims die a premature death as well
The question is how were costs cut ? With the Slim console they went with a cheaper , more efficient , cooler running SoC rather than the more expensive , less efficient , hotter running separate CPU and GPU of the previous revisions . Cutting costs is not necessarily bad when you end up with newer updated technology .
@@bryanobrien2726 yeah but starts being a problem when It reduces reliability and/or repairability. Slim consoles have far more RAM, memory controllers, standby voltage regulators and southbridge issues than phats. Also, running CPU and GPU together as XCGPU means that you can't replace it in case of failure since the CPU os married to the board (not without RGH at least, which is not available on Winchester boards), and the GPU itself is what died most of the times on phat consoles. On Jasper boards, most of the issues are power input related (mostly 12V rail), but these are just as common on slim consoles. I mean, it's great having built-in Wi-fi, more USB ports, dedicated Kinect port, but it's rather have a console that is less likely to die. It's just my opinion based on previously owned consoles, field experience and feedback from fellow technicians, but don't take it at face value though
I love the blue color, I have the regular version of the 360 E, but I got it in a bundle with a kinect sensor and a few games
This is the console that i got which really introduced me to console gaming. I really loved this xbox, a few short years later i got the original xbox one which i also love.
Never understood that console, but thanks for the video
It was something regularly done in console gaming before the 360 ps3 generation. Just about every successful console would get a super scaled back, cheap redesign in its final days. Atari 2600 JR, NES, Genesis, PS1, PS2 slim and the 360-E. This past generation, they went the opposite way with more expensive enhanced models with the ps4 pro and Xbox One X.
Not the first time this has happened. In 1993, years after the worldwide release of the Super NES, Nintendo released a redesign of the original NES with a top-loading cartridge slot and a dogbone controller design.
god i hate the dog bones
That's not even the first time. The Atari 2600 had at least one revision.
Actually, the first ever console revision was the Atari 2600 Jr. in 1986, 9 years after the original release.
To think that if Microsoft didn’t release this version of the unit, I probably never would’ve gotten into gaming as I got this as a gift when I was teenager.
I love when things are modernized that way. It's like it keeps the original Essence but it looks way more modern.
Man, the Xbox 360S was a beautiful console.
Yep
The ‘’mighty’’ Xbox 360 launched in November 2005 and 2006 for other countries. Get your facts right. Sad that dislikes are gone smh 🤦♂️
I heard about the penny trick online recently and noticed a couple of fundamental problems with the methodology. 1, pennies are used as heat sinks for the GDDR3 modules right? That means they must be between 1909-1982 to be useful 95% copper heat sinks as opposed to 2.5%. 2nd, people use 2 to 3 pennies per stack... But it's pointless if that heat isn't transferring to the other pennies, use MX4 or Thermal Grizzly as the peanut butter for that penny sandwich. THEN wrap it with electrical tape and be one your way. I already prepared my 4 stacks.
The 360 I still use today is the OG model, and it seems the 360 E is running around $100 online. That's not bad at all! I still have all my 360 discs, too, so that could be a great way to dive back into some great games I haven't played in a while!
