      Snob approved speakers sound pretty bad until they are medium loud. They don't get really loud so they only have one good (narrow) window of listening volume. I don't do the low efficiency snob speakers anymore. zzzz.

    Steve, your channel has really grown on me. To be honest, the first few videos I watched of yours were hard for me to get into but now I'm hooked. It was this video that really got me. I'll be signing up for your Patreon shortly. Your videos are so thoughtful. I learn a lot from every video and I really appreciate the effort you put into this. To some extent I see a lot of myself in your thought process. I feel like I'm always too wordy and it might be hard for some people to get into your videos but they'll be hooked once they do. I actually have the RP-6000F Mark IIs for my home theater and streamer/DAC setup. I replaced the Klipsch R-625FAs I got from Costco (basically home theater system in a box). I don't have a super ideal setup. I have a Denon X6700H receiver. For music I have a Bluesound Node with USB connected to the SMSL VMV D1se DAC connected to the receiver. For the 6000Fs I don't have any nice amps. I have some Niles SI-2150 class D amps connected to the preouts of my Denon AVR. I have 1 of those each in bridged mono mode for the 6000Fii low frequency side. For the 6000Fii HF I have one Niles SI-2100 class D stereo amp. I'm almost ashamed to say I use class D amps because my audiophile friend says class A amps are superior. Anyways I digress. Your next video had started playing on my smart TV. Cheers!

    Great take on a super relevant speaker. I took advantage of the new line to buy a pair of the discontinued RP 6000s for a cool $750 and they're extraordinary. Just right for my room. The only obvious differences I can see in the Mark II are twin bass ports instead of one and the extra speaker connects for Atmos. I don't even want to know if the new line is a meaningful sonic upgrade. Oh who am I kidding? Of course I want to know. Steve or anyone - had a chance to do a direct comparison?

    Steve, regarding the Viewer System of the Day's amplifier: The VTA M-125 mono blocks are 125 watt amplifiers designed by Bob Latino and sold on-line at tubes4hifi by Roy Mottram. They are generally sold as kits, but Roy will build it for you at additional cost. They are powerful push-pull amps that can drive KT88 tubes among others. I built a pair and use them in my home theater for two channel stereo.

    I like my RP8000f's b/c they are tall and deep in my long deep living room so fit well and sound pretty pretty awesome. I can get behind them to access my cd shelves whereas wide speakers become obstacles in such a space. They also function well in my home theater 5.2 setup. Finally, bi-wiring these speakers does take the stereo musicality aspect to a whole other level. It helps bring the mid and top end alive and tighter bass.

      The 8000fII definitely need space like anything else with strong bass into the 30's. That being said, in a smaller room, the 600mII would sound better. There is nothing macho about putting big speakers into small rooms.

    Good review Steve!
    I have a pair of RP8000F speakers that I purchased as part of my “downsizing” exercise (I figured their footprint is much the same as a stand mount and I really couldn’t go from the sound of my old Altecs or open baffle speakers to a real stand mount with any comfort). One thing I don’t understand is why so many users, and Klipsch themselves, insist that only amplifiers of around 150W or greater are suitable. I’ve been playing with music systems since 1969, and I do understand the old headroom thing, dynamics and bass control, but these things can be achieved with a smaller basket of watts than so many suggest - I think you showed this pretty well in this review and earlier ones you’ve done. Am I missing something? I don’t want to “piss off the neighbours” (well, not usually), what I want is a pleasurable music experience.
    Thanks for your reviews - love your work! 👍

      @matejpodlesnik6538 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Smaler amp can play them afcourse. But as other reviewers measured them, they are more close to 90db. And for 90db you are better off with somewhat stronger amps.
      Even their bigger brother rp8000f stated as 98db, have in reality no more than 93db. I compare them to my diy speakers and on the same amplifier they played just as loud as mine, and mine are measured to 92,8db sensitivity.
      They are realy great speakers othervise. I do miss some mids on them, as they have a dip from 1000 to 2000hz folowed by big steap to 3000hz. They are not the best with vocals.

    Steve I believe that VTA amp is built by Bob Latino. He also sells and builds the VTA ST70, which is a modernized version of the legendary Dynaco ST 70. The letter M of course is for mono, as in mono blocks. One of my dream audiophiliac reviews would be to hear your comparison of the deckware amplifier to an ST 70. Or, the M120. I wish that more speaker manufacturers voiced their speakers for grilles on. I never really cared to look at the drivers in a loudspeaker - I don’t want to know how the “sausage is made” and find myself staring at them instead of closing my eyes and really listening. I had the LS50s and actually returned the “standard” piano black/gold driver for an all flat black pair for this reason.
    I realize that many owners do prefer to see the drivers and that voicing them with grilles on can be an issue. One solution might be to specify how they are voiced could help, though it would likely limit the potential audience. Another would be to include a switch to boost or cut midrange/treble as KLH and some others do.
    Also, some grilles are really poorly designed as cause all sorts of diffraction issues. The Tektons I auditioned had really rudimentary grilles with severely raised non-magnetic frames. I’m also not fond of my own Buchardt solutions. Those circular grilles are not great. At least they are all black. Maybe I’ll be able to find a huge stretch sock to put them in 😂

    Funny you mention the high sensitivity. With all the other Klipsch speakers they are measured in room which “I’m assuming the same with these” skews the measurement to be higher than it is in reality compared to most other speaker manufacturers measurements.

  • @doublet147
    @doublet147 Před rokem +4

    Klipsch has a sound that many people like. I've owned multiple Klipsch speakers & enjoyed them. The sensitivity is not what they state though. If they say 96db, it's actually closer to 90db.

    • @bumkrilla5339
      @bumkrilla5339 Před rokem

      Well they do state in their spec sheet it's measured in room not all rooms are equal but in room with walls elevating it could get to 96db in a small bedroom easily 96 db but in a super large room more like 90 db but even then 90db is still extremely sensitive anything about 87db is easy to drive

    • @doublet147
      @doublet147 Před rokem

      @bum krilla true. It's just kind of a shady business practice. Like you said, not all rooms are the same. Plus, the avg person looking to purchase may know to look for a higher sensitivity stat but not realize Klipsch measures/lists it differently than most other brands.

    • @bumkrilla5339
      @bumkrilla5339 Před rokem

      @double T most people will never have a sensitivity problem with their speakers because even the cheapest stuff will play them loud and they sound decent with almost anything and most people are more concerned about rms when they are new to the community so I see many people hooking them up to emotive bass x 250 watt per channel amp which for 90db sensitivity is pretty over Kill

    I was wondering how my klipsch towers would sound with a tube amp because they are so efficient. I am currently running mine with a Marantz AV7001 processor and Rotel amps

    Steve do me a favor would you take a look at the different available balanced turntables available so I can run a fully balanced vinyl rig. I have seen to the TeAac TN5 BB and the Pro-Ject X8 I also saw one with an acrylic rice paper platter but I can't really remember the details. I'd like to know what do you think the advantages might be of running a fully balanced turntable into a fully balanced Phono pre
    I have the Decware ZP3 Phono Pre on order and the Decware Zen triode SE 34-6 integrated amplifier. If you could take a look at this overlook segment a vinyl reproduction within the next year or so cause I have these items coming in about a year or more for the wait list oh

    Is this probably what you would class as one of the best budget floorstander?, I’ve only heard one horn speaker and that was a zingali bookshelf in a glasgow shop and a lot more expensive but a very impressive sound.

    I really really really appreciate you telling us where these and other things are made. I am doing my best to stay away from anything china made. As I’m sure you are well aware of, this is unfortunately almost impossible in todays age. But more and more, I AM willing to pay more for American engineered and manufactured products. I certainly will buy Japanese made electronics and vehicles. I’m not ruling out everyone but….NOT cHINA! NO WAY! So thank you again and I really enjoy your podcasts!

      @@welshrarebit9238 I’m sure the products are just fine. I have no doubt that the people of china are great at their craft. My problem is purely political, with the government, their humanitarian perspective or lack there of and the communist regime. They have us under their thumb and they know it. Not to mention the pandemic that killed a million Americans. So I’m happy to save my money to buy more expensive American made speakers and products. Completely not trying to be a smart aleck, that’s just my point of view.

    Hi Steve, hope you're doing good. I'm exploring options to buy some new good devices for my music room. I currently have a Yamaha R-N602 with a pair of speakers Yamaha NS-F330. I thought of getting the Marantz PM7000N and the Klipsch RP-6000F (which I could see on your review from CZcams). I picked those options based on my budget but I'm not sure if that would be a good combination to set up. My turntable will remain the same, it's an Audio-Technica AT-LP140XP which has an Ortofon 2M Red mounted in it. Any comments will be highly appreciated

    I'm thinking up upgrading my RP-600Miis with the RP-6000Fiis and eventually (I don't have room now) use the bookshelf speakers as surrounds (currently have 4 tiny little Polk satellites). I noticed that the original RP6000Fs go lower in the bass by 4 dB. and the XO varies by 30 hz. Would either make any discernable difference? I use it with a Denon X4700 running into a Tonewinner amp. If they're still available, I can get some B-stock 6000Fiis for $750.
