In 1945, Tony Stein would take part in the bloody amphibious landing at Iwo Jima.
He was one of only a handful of Marines to be issued with the new experimental modified 'Stinger' machine gun.

The difference between the Corp and the army is that the marines are usually always first to fight. They are also made for the sole purpose of killing. They also don’t have as many vehicles as the army.
Also forgot they are very effective in amphibious operations.

whenever you read an amazing story about a service member and you hear they won the medal of honor, you know they died
wow. i just learned a lot. ww2 is one of my favorite historical subjects and i never even knew that we had marine paratroopers, nor did i know about the stinger, most shameful of all i had never heard of stein, a real life war hero. these are stories we should learn about in school.

Yeah... while walking to the train station in Chicago.
The top turret on the TBM avenger was a 50 cal. It was the gun underneath that was the AN/M2 30 Cal stinger and it was called the stinger because of it's lower position. The actor Paul Newman was a radioman/ stinger gunner on TMBs and was in VT-84 on the USS Bunker Hill during the Battle of Okinawa.

Stein was also one of 6 issued this basicly mg-42 type of weapon using the higher round pre min 1300 RPM aircraft gun light and able to be fired from the shoulder as well as from the hip. was fed out of 100 round belt box mounted to the gun.
