* * READ SPECIAL NOTE * * Be sure the oil dipstick is removed prior to installing the oil pan because you can bend it and get it stuck! ( Don't ask how I know ) - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thank you for taking your time and show us this mess of a design from GM, this also applies to the cadillac SRX oil pan guys
Thank you very much for the feedback.
@@s33therfanhi I was looking up how to change oil pan for 2011 chevy Malibu 3.6 ltz is this the same job?
Such great design, a pain in the ass to fix AND they are prone to cracking how lovely
Guys, remove your oil dipstick before installing the oil pan, I just realized I got mine stuck somehow when I installed the oil pan, so most probably I have to do the thing all over again :c
You're video is sure helpful I'm about to change my oil pump
Thank you very much for the terrific feedback.
Your video help me out man great job. Really appreciate it
Thank you so much for the great feedback.
Thanks, had no clue how GM engineers want to keep GM service @ $105 p/h profitable. Just wanted to check for sludge since those cam sensors are so sensitive to impurities. In your case, I would have taken up aluminum welding. What a pain!
Yes , it was a very big job. Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated.
Just finished up mine. What a PITA. Motor mounts do not need to go to the oil pan.
Very true . Thanks for watching.
This is what you get when an engine originally designed for a longitudinal application (the original high-feature v6 was meant for the first gen RWD CTS and the LY7 3.6 was developed by Holden, again for RWD applications) that the bean counters decide needs to be put into every platform possible with the cheapest possible modification for fitment. They even ask for a range of solutions that would include everything from a different block casting for certain platforms down to jb weld and duct tape...and the jb weld and duct tape solution is always selected because it's $3 cheaper per unit. Every. Single. Time. And who does everyone end up hating and blaming? The engineers.
another arduous job taken on. well done sir.
Thank you for watching and the great feedback.
Dude! I just picked up a 2013 Traverse with same same oil leaks wanting the oil pan to be replaced. I appreciated your video so much but have to ask how long it took you start to finish but either way I MY HATS OFF TO YOU!! Gonna try blue devil till I decide what to do.
The best I remember I spent about 3 days on it . I was working on it 3 or 4 hours a day. It is pretty involved but well worth it. Thanks for watching.
Quoted 15.3hrs by Firestone
Great video sir
Thank you very much.
Working on a 3.9 lucerne. And dang crazy 🤯
Thank you for sharing , and thanks for watching.
Just ruined my friday night by watching your video. Half to do my gaskets but havent really looked under the acadia yet. Figured I would do oil, tranny and anything else while I'm under their
yes , and it is as bad as it looks , however I haven't found too many things easy on these Acadias. The good news is that it worked perfectly with no leaks but it was a chore. I have a recent video on the valve covers that will give you nightmares I will share. I appreciate the feedback and thank you for watching.

No rtv by transmission?
How do you clean the crank
I have used break cleaner before and scraped excess gunk off of the crank. Thanks for the feedback.

Why did they design the oil pan like this??
Great question. Thank you for watching.
Why did they design the CAR like this?!?! 🤬🤬🤬 Even the "simple things" are hard to do! Oil filter change anyone?
Thanks for the video.
How is the RTV holding up on the passenger side end, where the crankshaft pully is? I'm in the middle of this job myself right now.
For anyone else in this situation, I was able to loosen the transmission to engine bolts and gave my self some extra room between the timing chain cover and tranny. There are also three transmission mount bolts in the back that need to be loosened because the mounting bracket also ties into the engine.
No leaks whatsoever. I am impressed with just how well rtv seals even in situations like these. Thanks for watching.
15.3hr job qouted by firestone to replace the oil pan gasket
Thank you for sharing this information , I am always curious about shop prices etc and it helps others determine if they want to tackle a project themselves.
You bet! I didn't believe them but I guess that sounds fairly close.....crazy
$2,200 after tax!
Yes , never would have guessed the labor cost , one could get a complete engine for less. Thanks again.
How much $$ charge for this little job
I have not priced this myself , so maybe someone could chime in here. From what I understand it runs around $1000 due to labor. Thanks for watching.
@@s33therfan $1600
Thank you for sharing.
Imagine doing this from your own stupidity on a 2012 acadia. I got a straw stuck in the oil pan from carburetor cleaner trying to clean out the gunk. Only 85000 miles. If that's not an idiot I don't know what is.
We have all been there with some mistake of our own. Thanks for the feedback , and thanks for watching.
Hahaha I confess it make me laugh.. ( dont ask how I know)
Thank you very much for watching.
👍
Highly recommend leaving tranny fluid alone if it hadn’t been serviced at the recommended intervals
Your not showing good detail like where did you brace the motor
By the transmission.. the motor mount comes out the bottom axle bracket and all. In 1
