@@tedmoise1398 He didn't actually. I first heard it in 1987 from HS kids I worked with at a sporting goods store in Seven Corners, VA. This was in the D.C. Metro area so he may have first it heard as a Bullets player.
Bro ran away from home, to GO TO SCHOOL. Just shows you how fortunate some of us have been that we detest, undervalue, or otherwise disregard so much that others only dream to have.
We must never forget when he hit six threes against the Phoenix Suns. A big hitting 6 threes now may be cool, but not amazing. In his era, it was unthinkable.
Big Facts being spoken here. That's part of why it's so crazy to see big guys in the NBA nowadays hitting 3s like it's nothing. That just was NOT happening back when he was playing.
Manute was no superstar or freak athlete but I loved seeing him play. He Litterally had more blocks then he had points it's true He blocked Kareem’s sky hook. How can you not love him. R.I.P Manute.
Great video on one of the tallest and greatest players to ever play the game of basketball in the NBA!!! It was very obvious that Manute bols heart was always with his country back in Sudan!!! He did a lot for his country Sudan and it's people!!! He was a great human being and will never be forgotten!!! RIP Manute bol!!! I always wished that i could have seen him play basketball in person!!!🙏🙏🙏
Wow. Beautiful story. I never new all this about Manute. What a legend. I'm going to share this with my teenage kids. Everyone can appreciate a man like this. My thoughts are with you right now. Thanks.
Manute Bol is quite an amazing player in the NBA. He was an African sensation out of Sudan who was giving charities to his country. I’m glad I got the opportunity to watch him play. He was a tall man for his height at 7 foot 7. He was a rebounder and a shot-blocker. He died too soon. R.I.P. Manute Bol!!!🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
I actually was at the Capital Centre in 1985 when Rookie Manute got his first start as a Washington Bullet vs the Milwaukee Bucks. He had 11 blocked shots in the first half. Bucks adjusted to him and he had only one in the 2nd half. He ended up with a career high 18 points as Washington won in OT. I saw that fight with Oldham on TV. Bol could have murdered him with those whip arms!! The "My bad" phrase was already being used by HS kids in 1987.
Bol was a shot blocking machine which definitely got him a few records and he could shoot a three to give Bol some offense His post nba story is more interesting and very inspiring bc he literally helped his country and he was a activist
Micheal Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time but Bol got the biggest story , many of you might not understand what Senegal, Sudan and some west Africa countries was like back then … till date sadly
First time I heard "my bad" was on a basketball court in Philadelphia (I want to say 1994/95) when I was a teenager. It is now used by older white women at my work so casually that it confuses me. And it all started with Manute
10:28 this is the craziest manute bol fact ever. this dude really started the phrase “my bad”
I love it

Urban legend, I heard that phrase way before he was in the NBA.

Nah, going to school sucks.
Womp womp
I’ve been saying my bad for years and never knew😂
It reminds me if that meme that says what year “running” was invented like people never ran before then
Manute Bol is quietly one of the most fascinating nba players of all time, it’s a shame we never got to see an autobiography from him
Relax. No need to get hyperbolic and emotional about it. I swear the shyt people say from one video to the next is night and day.

I am glad he became an NBA player. We need more people like Manute Bol.
