FXBB looks good in red. Great job on the sporty upgrade buyback program at arrowhead/chandler HD. We upgraded from sportys to Black 2018 FXBB/Red 2018 FLSL 107 Milwaukee 8. Did the stage 1 on both. V&H 3” twin slash Slip ons work great on the FXBB. Tuner is a must for slips or full exhaust for m8. Both are great bikes, same platform. We had to take both of ours into chandler HD for new rocker box gaskets less than 1000 miles typical oil leak. After that zero problems. We went with the memphis shades gauntlet fairing trigger kit on FXBB which made a huge difference cutting the wind drag. I prefer riding the FXBB street bob sits higher up, taller front wheel i feel more confident turning in than the slim, but the slim is cool too. Slim does have a little bigger tank capacity. Using blue threadlocker is a must for the seat bolt. Mono shock “4” works best for us. We switched to Harley SYN3 after break in
My first bike was a 2012 z1000 I was 23 at that time I would wheelie that bike every chance I got lol...i grew up on dirt bikes,I myself am 5'4 and my play bike right now is a 2019kx100 I have riden friends Harleys like a street bob and sportster, I'm much older now and dont care to do 150+ I just want to enjoy the ride...I like the softail, fatbob both great looking bikes hardest decision in life lol
Great video i really like both, the softail slim and the street bob, i have been riding a '12 modified sportster 883 and I'm looking for his future replacement, i love the Slim...but it's almost like 6000 € more than the street bob and with the handlebar of the slim the street bob looks great too...very similar
I agree with u. Initially I was headed toward the street bob, especially because I was coming off a Sporty Seventy-two, and i found that the street bob had similar styling. I eventually chose the slim for 2 primary reasons: Aesthetically its more nostalgic, and fuel capacity. 5 gallons will get u waaayyy outta town. Keep an eye on this street bob though, there's already talks of bars and pipes, in fact, since this video i have already installed smoked out blinker lenses and a tank lift.
Great video - thanks for the comparison. Also thanks for no butt-rock intro. Just a simple, well-spoken comparison. Nice work. And the billiard blue on the Slim is a fantastic color!
Appreciate the comparison for the shorter riders. I'm 5'4 and own a 2013 HD Sporty 883. I'm looking at trading up into either a Slim or a Low Rider. I like the foot control position of the Low Rider. But I seem to sit better in the Slim. The Street Bob is sweet! But I want a larger tank for longer trips. Definitely Sub'd. Excited to see some of the mods you guys do.
It looks like the Slims seat height is an inch lower than the low rider. Maybe go to your local dealer and sit in each to figure out which one u would rather manage day to day. Looking at the low rider, it appears to be angled more toward the long rides. The primary reason i chose the slim over all other was the nostalgic aesthetics.
Excellent choice Ron. We just did a tank lift on this street bob and will be doing mufflers and bars over the next few weeks. Keep an eye out for the update. Enjoy ur Street Bob!
I bought the slim and I'm alot taller than you two at just shy of 6' and it fits me just as well as you shorties. I'm just head over heals with that ww2 era styling.
I love both. The thing it stops me a little bit respecting to the SB is instrumentation screen (so so small) and almost, the tank capacity. I read you change it ? Where did you get it and for how much ?
Im not 100% sure if there is an aftermarket part made specifically for changing the SB gauge. However, all the softail tanks mount up the same and all the frames r the same where the tanks mount. So theoretically u could pick a tank that has the gauge in it and swap out the stock tank. Only lingering question is the wiring. The tank gauge wiring runs thru the top of the frame and then stock SB gauge runs from the handlebar clamp.
It was a real toss up for me between the Street Bob and the Slim when I went to by my most recent bike. I preferred the style of the Slim a little more, but it came down to handling for me, the way that thing handles along with the rider geometry makes it Harley's best riding bike in my humble opinion! I saw in another video that you guys put a Saddlemen seat on, I tried it and returned it, wasn't a fan. I put a walk through of my Street Bob on my channel, just light custom. Anyway, sorry to go on so long - love the content, keep it coming!
Misfits tribute!?! Dude that thing is sick! Everything on that bike seems to flow very well. Have u thought about doin bars? I know a great builder with some beautiful bar options.
@@aztriumphster thanks man! I even mocked up a tank raise and then didn't do it because I thought it looked better at the stock angle with everything going on. And yeah, I've thought about bars - I'm not a huge fan of the wrinkle black finish, but i do like the ride geometry. Send me the contact info, if it's an ape within a few inches of the current set up I'd be interested.
@@elpinchegringo2684 I'll hook u up with a link to Dean-speed Customs Hayley Handlebars. In the mean time browse some of the other videos on my channel. Ive done bars on 3 different sportsters, a Street Bob and a slim. The Streer Bob and Slim are both rockin 12" bars, 1 1/4" diameter and about 30" total width. U can run up to a 12" tall bar on stock cables and wires on a street bob. Im 5' 5" tall and the 12" bars are great ergonomically. Plus they look real good.
I love the slim style. Its fat front tire, wide gas tank makes it looks a robust bike. I dislike the thin bike styles. The submarine shape of gas in the 48 & sporsters are so ugly ( in my personal opinion) I'll change those dirthbike bars when I'll get one.
Can you have the Slim with the Street Bob's medium controls (keeping the floorboards) and tires? Or the Street Bob with the Slim's floorboards and Hollywood handlebars?
Thank you for posting this side by side video! I´m really thorn between this two models. I would really be interested on the difference of how they ride. I have watche video coments Stating that the Slim feels more "planted" and with lower CG. Against marginal better manuverability from the Street Bob. I get the 1° lean angle difference, and the front tire difference. but how do they feel? I would love any comments on that. Thank YouQ
I agree that the Slim feels more planted with a lower center of gravity. I have heard that the Street Bob will out handle the Slim in the twisties and i can say that the mid foot controls on the Bob feel higher, which im sure contributes to a better lean angle. The Slim handles precisely and confidently, and the boards alow me to stretch out or pull my heels back if needed. The monoshock makes for a smooth ride, and is balanced handling with the front suspension. The fuel capacity was considered in my decision to buy the slim as well.
@@aztriumphster Appreciate the reply! I love the look of both, and at this point I belive it would be the Slim. I May go against reason ad fit a Sportster 4.5 tank and the Street bob Digital gauge. That would be the only point I don´t like about the Slim. i know the dash looks very nostalgic, but I like the clean lines of not having it on the tank.
@@aztriumphster If I may, I have just one last question, hope you don´t mind. I´m sure you get the idea when people say that you feel like in the bike or on the bike. Would you say there is a difference on that feeling between the two bikes.
I believe due to the size of the tank, you would feel more in the bike on the slim, however its not much more. Additionally, a seat that puts u lower and/or further back will provide more of an "in the bike" feel as well.
I didnt realize you were that short. Maybe thats why I felt so big on the slim I just tested. Though it may be a new softail thing all around because I felt cramped on the sport glide as well
In 06 i bought my first motorcycle. It was a crotch rocket. I had never ridden a motorcycle before, hadnt taken the rider course, nothin. The front wheels are different sizes so those tires wont be interchangeable, but the bars and foot controls should be.
The new Streetbob seat is very low! I think I would go with the Slim with a Springer front end.

What's the "slim" mean exactly. Lighter bike than the classic?
Harley refers to it as a "stripped down bobber". I think that and the sportster width rear wheel/tire, gives it its name.
slim rear tyre.

Which one is more comfortable for longer rides
My vote is the slim, due to the floor boards, but to each their own.

Weird that the Softail slim is fatter than the street bob
SLIM ALL THE WAY! HARLEY SHOULD HAVE A SPRINGER VERSION OF THE SLIM.
The 883 can easily do more than 60, 65......
His point isnt speed. But how long it can do those speeds. Sporty just isnt great for long trips.
