Alright, I'll comment. I have the 2015 Dyna Street Bob. I've test ridden the M8 Street Bob twice. The new Milwaukee 8 engine is far, far, far, more smooth. What I mean to say is there is far less vibration and drama. My Dyna shakes and shifts when sitting there which is an element I rather like and feel the new one is lacking. It's not characterless, so to speak, but I miss the ridiculousness of a shaking beast. There's almost a comforting understanding that it exudes.
    - When you accelerate with the new M8, you can literally feel the wheel moving behind your ass. No joke. You do not get that with the Dyna.
    - The new seat, which is hit and miss to many, I found to be perfectly comfortable and supportive.
    - The handling is vastly improved on the new M8. I deliberately tried to scrape the pegs, and couldn't manage to do so. Turning circle radius has improved.
    - The suspension is FAR SUPERIOR with the M8. I took it over EVERY bump and road imperfection I could. Where the Dyna would buck you off your seat, the new M8, while you knew you went over a bump, would absorb the road imperfections fantastically.
    - The brakes are awful for both. The new M8, I would guess is equally sucky. Why? Because that rear brake on your right foot is NON EXISTENT. I Would ride at 25MPH, clutch in, and press the rear brake to the floor as hard as possible and it WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. Might as well have put my foot on the concrete, though the front brake does have good bite with the new one.
-The stock sound sounded like a sewing machine which is to be expected. No real problem there if you decide to go for an aftermarket pipe.
FINAL VERDICT: The new one is BETTER in so many ways. Ultimately it is the better bike. But the soul that I like with my Dyna sways me to it - that and I put hella money into it. Still the new M8 is very good.
Both engines are not insane. You won't get hella adrenaline by pinning the throttle in first, but you can enjoy yourself, feel the smoothness, and cruise - and if necessary have the power to fly by guys. This has to be the longest comment ever. Love you all, give the new ones a shot.

Try adjusting the rear brake pedal to be a bit higher. H-D sets them so low that if you operate it by hand you can see that where the brake rod attaches to the pedal, it actually lifts that pin/rod end instead of pushing it rearward to operate the master cylinder. So adjust the rod - down at the cylinder end - to be longer. I noticed the problem before I bought my bike and set it correctly before leaving the dealership. They were a bit surprised that the first thing I did was work on the bike, and 'de-adjusted' it at the first (free) service. It's a case of the 'tech's myriad of knowledge' versus my 45+ years of riding and wrenching..... even the service manager told me that I have probably forgotten more than he knows ! Oh, and if you want to improve the handling/ loose the dreaded 'Dyna wobble' then invest in some decent engine mounts from Big Bear Performance or Chopper Hauss - they ain't cheap but will do more for your handling than new suspension. Then do the suspension and you will be amazed , fitting twin disc to the front works wonders as well - this can be done with Dyna Fatbob parts. Ride safe.
P.S. my (2000 MY) Streetbob has 113 inches and over 127bhp, 122ftlbs of torque.....

@Random dude A 'new era' bike has an electric motor and masses of torque but you can't go very far...... my point is that new things are not always what are wanted and as yet it is not mandatory to follow the crowd ........

I ride a 2008 Dyna Low Rider with the 96 Twin Cam. I will keep this bike until the day I die. Bought it new. 12 years old now. I love it. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 11 years old. I am now 65. Of all the Harley's I have owned... this Dyna is the best Handleing bike I've owned. It's a keeper.

Massive dyna fan here, got a 2013 streetbob, love that the thing feels like it's trying to take off when your fire it up, you can see the bars flapping like wings!! It's such a nice handling bike and your sure of it in corners. It tracks really really well so when you take both hands off the bars it sits where you put it.
Only downside, and it might just be my example, is the ecu gremlins. I've had two ecu's quit on me now. It's not the end of the world though as S&S super e carbs fit with the propper manifold and a stand alone ignition system.
Personally I don't like what they did with the street Bob post 2018. That whole little tank thing ruins a great bike as do the gaiters on the forks and the lack of a decent clock.
Just my opinion of course but there it is.

I had Dyna street Bob, I loved the look and the sound. The feel of it, was just natural, sadly I totaled it, got a 114 softail fatboy, not really feeling it after at a year, it fell heavy, the sound is just not as enjoyable as the Dyna... I miss my Street Bob. If you have one, take care of it, "I like the softail street Bob" is not something no one would say.

I got me an M8 Street Bob and I love it, its the biggest Harley I've had. I started on a Sportster, even tried a Street 750 for a while. They have all got their good and bad points I guess, but I havent found an issue with the Street Bob yet. Tank size isn't an issue for me. I generally ride alone or with people with smaller bikes with smaller tanks and around 100 miles is always a good time to stretch my legs and I love the gauges, never been a fan of single clocks but this is so neat and unobtrusive. I always wanted a Dyna Street Bob but always wanted a brand new Harley too . This year I found myself in the position that I could buy new so Softail Street Bob was the answer, was it a compromise, I'll never know and I don't care this bike I will have until its time to hang up my helmet :)

I haven't ridden in a little over 15 years. Late teens early 20s while in the corps, my only mode of transportation was a cbr600 f3 then a R1. Fast forward to my mid 30s. I decided I miss the thrill and freedom if riding too much. Didn't want the extreme speed of a sports bike, always loved the muscle of a Harley. So I got a really nice sportster 1200. Beautiful bike. Did a few customizations. Upgraded to stage II. However long rides and speeds over 65 very uncomfortable. Looked into getting a RK at first, but that was too much like a Cadillac. Then it dawned on me. A Dyna was the perfect bike. I like blacked out so a street bob was what I was after. However I found an unbelievable deal on a low mile blacked out 2005(carb) Dyna super glide. Stage I, LaPara bare bones low profile seat, forward controls, and 14" blk apes. It's a beautiful bike. Perfect feel, Has the 88 and plenty power for how I ride. Although I may do that 95 upgrade. Either way I'm sure I'll be om this bike for a very long time. At any rate, figured I'd share my experience. Great review on 2 great bikes. Ride safe everyone.

I'll chime in. Owner of a 2015 Street Bob (FXDB) and a 2019 Street Bob (FXBB). I bought the 2019 in mid/late 2018 and traded in my 2017 Lowrider at the time. I was excited to move with the evolution of the M8 motor. I immediately upgraded the exhaust / seat / air cleaner and grabbed a tuner. It was fast and handled well but something that was always lacking was the exact thing stated in the video: "Soul". It's a refined motor but has somehow been stripped of that original harley sound and vibration. for some, this may be a good thing but i think for riders of evos or shovelheads (and beyond) you will come to notice that the Milwaukee 8, doesn't do it for you. I ended up selling the Milwaukee 8 and grabbed a 2015 Street Bob. Not to mention, people don't really recognize this too much but the length of bike is about 2" less on the Milwaukee 8. Where you can tell is when a passenger is on it. They feel much closer and it gives a cramped up feeling.
I hate the new streetbob tanks. At the very least, they could have used the fatbob M8 tank.
From a customization perspective and jumping into the Milwaukee 8, the motor is pretty user friendly to work on and take apart. (if you dare jump in to change the cam or add a new oil pump or cam plate)
All and all though, I think for the time being, I will stick to buying used stock twin cams and building those up. They have more character.

You both have valid points on each platform but you can always balance out the crank of the twin and get different mounts for the engine and a stronger fork brace to kill the Dyna wobble. Yes all that gets pricey but doesn’t any HD. Will you keep a M8 stock? Can’t wait to see a tank swap on 1 custom colors wheels, bars, etc it’s still a Harley we will make with our personal touch. After a few softail test rides I'm comfortable saying that my 17 FXDLS with aftermarket engine stabilizers and ohlins suspension is still considerably more fun to ride than the new softail LRS. The new bikes are slick looking but they ride like overpriced metric bikes, except without all the new modern safety gadgetry. I already have two metrics, and my Dyna is more fun than both.

I like the new Street Bob with the exception of the gas tank. It doesn't bother me so much that it is 3.5 gallons as the fact that it looks like the Sportster 1200 custom tank. What I don't understand is that the Sportster tank is 4.5 gallons yet it looks the same size. I would rather it just be the 5 gallon. I just wonder if a 5 gallon from another model would fit.

The problem I see is this; most Harley fans rate bikes on arguably the worst thing about them, how much they shake and vibrate. The M8 is by far the best engine they have made since the VRSC (I have no idea why they didn't put this engine in more models) but most Harley fans seem to dislike technological innovation and prefer brutish, war-time agricultural machines that don't necessarily need the ability to steer around corners. Technologically and performance wise, The New Sportster S engine is going to blow away any other Harley out there but I'm predicting it won't be a big seller because it's actually a decent motorcycle and that's simply not what Harley fans want. It's modern, light, liquid-cooled and actually handles well. They have made a young Cheetah where the fans expected another aging, heavy, battle-hardened Bull.

I bought the new softail street bob last year, easy choice. I traded in an old ironhead rigid chopper on it (so I instantly preferred the ride!) I like sportsters and vintage Harley's so I wasn't predisposed to the Dyna or the new platform. I test rode a 2017 street bob and the 2019 back to back. The old Dyna may look a little cooler, but that's where it stops. The old Dyna handles like shit, the new softail carves tight corners like a hot knife through butter. The ride geometry is perfect. And the first time I hit 80+ mph in 3rd gear and dusted my buddies I had a hard on for a week! Sure the gas tank could be a little bigger... and I'll say this, they should have just named it something else, that way all the "dyna bros" will stop crying all butt hurt. They absolutely are two totally different bikes. In the end, you like what you like.

I rode a 2018 streetglide and it's "better" in every category but it doesn't feel like a Harley. Smoother and faster. Suspension and handling are better too but the signature sound and vibration is gone. Been gone for 20 years now. I suppose at least now the improvements go with it but still not worth it for me. Gimme an evo dyna with loud pipes and I'm happy. Twin cam and the mill 8 have no bloody soul. Or I could be a hipster I suppose.

The softail weighs much more than 450lbs, more like 650 which is still light for a Harley. Sportsters weigh 550ish. I don't think the street 500 is even under 500lbs. I love the look of the Dyna Street Bob platform more than the Softail but the Softail has more advantages. I myself will be getting a Softail or Dyna Lowrider S and a Softail Fatbob in the near future.

I think the new Street Bob looks better than the old one. But the bike I have is a Fat Bob 2013 and I like the old Fat Bob better than the newer. The 2014 "facelift" Fat Bob is ugly. The M8 Fat Bob is OK but still prefer the older one. I also prefer the Twin Cam over the M8 because I like the vibrations and I don't like the oil cooler. M8 engines all have internal counterbalancers, whereas Twin Cams were counterbalanced only on Softail models.
