  • How to instruction for the full oil change on the second gen Twin Cam Dyna. It is the same procedure for the first gen Twin Cam Dyna, and it is about the same for any of the FLH Baggers. This is the "Three Hole" oil change. That would be Engine oil, transmission oil. and primary oil. I even discuss some important points to remember with primary oil, like does it have friction modifier, which is what makes the wet clutch work smoothly.

You can take classes in 101 Motorcycle maintenance, carburetors, motorcycle electrical systems, suspension repair, basics of Mig welding, and specialty tools. In addition, I have an engine building class that S&S Cycle sponsors. They support the grassroots crowd, by sending me two warranty return engines, that people can disassemble, and reassemble, to help them build confidence before tearing into their own engine.

    I ride my bike down the road about 8 miles come home and cut it off and wait 10 minutes and drain all my fluids while hot. I fill it up to spec levels and then ride down the road about 8 miles and come back and wait about 5 minutes a recheck my fluid and fill back to correct level on sticks if needed. I use Amsoil 20W50 in engine and dedicated Amsoil transmission and primary fluids for those. It’s fine to use oil in all three I just prefer to use the specific fluids for trans and primary. Always shifts better than with all oil.🤷🏻‍♂️Just me though.

    Sir
    K&N filters aren’t supposed to be tightened by the nut only loosened.
    That’s why the spot welds crack and leak

    What type and brands are you using for the oils?

    • @KnobleMoto

      The gear oil was valveoline & and the engine oil was mobile 1. Both synthetic.

      @@KnobleMoto Thanks...so the primary your running gear oil...what weight? Mobil 1 for engine....is it auto or moto?

    • @KnobleMoto
      @KnobleMoto  Před rokem +1

      75/140 for the primary. It’s good and sticky, so it stays on the chain. Technically it is “automotive” gear oil. You just want to make sure whatever you use has friction modifier in it. That’s what helps your clutch operate smoothly. Often this is advertised as “for limited slip differentials”.
      For the engine, 20/50. For Harleys you can use automotive or bike oil, since the clutch is separate. On metric bikes you should use bike oil because of the clutch and friction modifier. However, on some beater metric bikes I have used car oil, and it worked fine.

      @@KnobleMoto Fantastic...I am relatively new to HD's....about 4 years now with an 07 Dyna Superglide...love it. So gear oil with friction modifiers in primary, engine oil can be automovie...what about the trans...seems like that oil is a low weight oil? Should I stick with vtwin trans oil?
      Thanks again.

      @KnobleMoto  Před rokem +1

      @@robertmacdonald2735 Baker trans recommends 75/140 for the trans also. They are straight cut gears, so it should be pretty thick. I wouldn’t go any thinner than 20/50 in the trans.
