    What am I talking about?
    My topic is the KE-Jetronic injection system which I try to demystify as much as I can.
    For all of you to understand the system in brief - Developed in 1973 and being mounted into cars up to 1993 as it went in history. But why these to letters!?(KE) K(from German "kontinuierlich" meaning continuos, without interruption) the MECHANICAL injection system on which the fuel starts flowing from the fuel tank sucked by the FUEL PUMP and delivered to the FUEL DISTRIBUTOR which sends fuel to the INJECTORS while the majority of it flows through the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR through its return line back to the fuel tank again. The letter E(electronic) has to mark the electronic sensors (the developement starting from early eighties) which had to inform the ECU about the current state of the engine so that the ECU(Electronic Control Unit) then could create current signal in mAmp(miliampers) and send it to four crucial components for the system - the EHA(the electro-hydraulic actuator,a unit consisting of a magnet, an electromagnet and a baffle plate) which had to fine tune the engine in each of its phases, the ICV(the idle control valve), the unit which was predicted for the engines perfect idle, the X11(the diagnostic socket) where the duty cycle(the ideal mixture) was adjusted and the X11/4(the code reader) - the socket which from any codes were read if present using an OBD1 scanner.
    An extraordinary injection system which could be fully repaired in your own garage using a multimeter and a pressure gauge only for its fine tuning, together with some common tools.

    Thank you for the video it was very helpful for learning how to adjust the rich/lean my 84' Mercedes r107. I'm getting fuel leaks from the WUR connector at the top of the Bosch k jetronic distributor (6 cylinder) and not the fuel pressure regulator dampener itself. I'm going to lean out the mixture and see if that gets it running properly with no leaks. Thanks for the insight!

    Thank you for your video, I'm really struggling with mine. I rebuilt the metering head and I am now having an issue. When I bridge the fuel pump fuel come straight out of my 2nd injector port. The others are fine and balanced. No fuel comes out the others until I press the flap. On the one that opens I hear a whine and then a large amount of fuel just continues to flow uncontrollably. Any help I would appreciate it. Thanks

      Hi and thanks for the comment. Concerning the 2nd cylinder, either the diaphragm is ruptured or the valve inside is broken. That can happen when assembling the fuel distributor. Greetings.

    This is a special video for "THE CAV". In this video I try to explain how to set the mixture screw on K-Jetronic cars. Normally the CO-screw is something that MUST NOT be readjusted on K-Jetronic because there is absolutely NO NEED for that. Once readjusted it can be very painful to get it back in its original position because now you have no EHA as well as no X11 to monitor the values with a multimeter so if you readjust the screw you will have to get it back literally by feel if the gap of 1.9mm on your sensor plate doesn't do the trick. Here I have mentioned for the first time something that is called "The initial mixture adjustment" and that goes for the K-Jetronic cars only. The last step would be the exhaust gas analyzer to get things back to normal! Enjoy the video and Happy Mercedesing!

    Can you give me any hint on what can be causing this?

      Este es solo un punto de partida cuando cada automóvil debe arrancar. Para cada ajuste fino, deberá usar un multímetro conectado al EHA y ver qué sucede con su mezcla, ya sea que tenga que hacerla más pobre o más rica.

      @mercedeske  Před měsícem

      Yes, the working principal. This is for all those whom someone turned the mixture screw in all directions so that the car won't start anymore or it starts and then there are floating RPM. This is called the initial mixture adjustment.

    Hi I drive an old e30 bmw with k-jetronik and works like you said, clockwise to rich the mixture and counter-clockwise to lean mixt. the problem is that when I try to rich the mixture the cars start to misfire and the rpm of the motor goes up and down .For now i go with lean mixture and i fell low power from the engine , any suggestions about how to fix it ? thnx

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před 2 lety

      At first the condition is fir the exhaust to be good, not cracked. Afterwards check all the breather hoses. If you have misfires check all the cables. No vacuum leaks.

    Hi, I have a ‘89 230GE. I’ve put brand new fuel lines, tank, pump, filter, injectors and had the k-jet system refurbished. Originally owner messed with the adjustment and now it won’t start. I can’t seem to get it adjusted in close enough to start, any suggestions?

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před rokem +1

      Hi. Unscrew one of the lines, bridge the fuel pump, ignition on engine off. Then put the 3mm Allen into the co screw and start enriching the mixture. Once you see the fuel coming out stop and turn half a turn COUNTERCLOCKWISE. Under those conditions any car should start. Afterwards set the mixture as it is supposed to be.

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před rokem +2

      If you can't stop the fuel flow then you have the issue with the fuel distributor. Bridge the fuel pump relay, remove all the metal hoses and the ignition on if you have fuel flow without deflecting the sensor plate then you have issue with the fuel distributor. Either the fuel distributor or the co screw doesn't turn at all.

    Hello, friend! How are you? I would like to ask you a question, I bought the repair kit for k jetronic of a Mercedes 230e year 1981, but apparently when changing the orings that measure the flow of gasoline to the injectors, these were poorly regulated (excess fuel) there is some basic calibration What can I do to get the car running again? Thank you very much!!

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před 2 lety

      Hello. So, as you rebuild the fuel distributor you must check if there are any leaks. Engine off and, remove the fuel pump relay and bridge the contacts 7&8(labeled as 87&30). This will make your fuel pump running. If no fuel comes out of the distributor then everything is okay. If you have a poor fuel flow towards the injectors then you will have to clean the distributor again. Either that or you have damaged the o-rings on the barrel while putting everything back. The only way to calibrate the fuel distributor is by turning the adjusting screws which I don't recommend you to do if you haven't screwed them in or out.

    • @diegovelazquez9213
      @diegovelazquez9213 Před 2 lety

      @@mercedeske Hello, let me tell you that I bought the complete kit for the distributor, put everything together, clean the injectors but I can't get the 4 injectors to spray the same amount of fuel (they spray correctly and don't leak), is there any way I can regulate it? From already thank you very much.

    • @mercedeske
      @mercedeske  Před 2 lety

      The only way is the 4 adjustment screws but don't readjust them, I adviseyou warmly. Test the distributor if you have flow or not. If not then you haven't done something right way(washing the fuel distributor).
