Many thanks for this video. It made the process of changing the battery on my 2010 MBP extremely easy. Thanks for the tip on charging and discharging the battery to calibrate it at the end - it seems to have done the trick and now my MBP will run on a battery rather than being plugged in all the time!

Great info! One question, when discharging the battery, what do you mean by not doing anything heavy?
Do not do anything too heavy such as movie, photo or audio production. Save them for after the calibration cycles have finished. While draining battery off charger, do more typical things watching vidoes, listening to music, browsing social media, emails, shopping, etc.
how would I ensure no static damage occurs?
My macbookpro 2010 sparks when charging and burnt. So i tried to buy a new charger but still, it sparks when charged. Do i need to change the battery or the electrical socket is the problem?

It shouldn't be metal, and it shouldn't be difficult to detach. Check your serial number against EveryMac or MacTracker; is your MBP a 13" M2010?

Actually this is happening with an imac...macbook pro is doing fine now. Unfortunately Imac appears to be a much more complicated process.
I can’t unscrew the back batteries
Double check to make sure the correct screwdriver is being used, and be careful…if not done properly…having stripped screws can be the result.
Do you really need to calibrate the battery? Isn't this a 1980s thing?

This replacement is terrible. Lasts only 1 hour. Now has swelled up. Useless
