It is very important to keep track of the screws and where they come from as they are different sizes. You can use a piece of cardboard, draw a rough outline of the computer and punch the screws into the cardboard so they stay put. Then put them back where they belong when done. Nice video!
Literally just did a new battery, 500GB SSD and 16GB memory on a Pro 2011. Boot up is ~20 sec, and opening of apps/programs seems infinitely faster now. Brought it back to life -- thanks for the great video!

command r does not work, what to do next? I end up moving all files to my new hard drive by dragging it. After that, I swapped the new hard drive to the old one. I followed the command/option/R/P prior to powering the computer. Once power is on, there is no file being read, and it only shows a folder on the screen. Did i do something wrong? Anything would help.
I watched your video and I was trying to do the same thing with my Macbook Pro 8,,2 that was running Lion. Problem with mine is, my computer crashed so I cannot get it to boot. I have tried internet recovery numerous times and although it had worked before, it won't do it now. I bought the new SSD from OWC so I know it is the correct harddrive. Any advise on doing this would be helpful. I just keep getting a white screen whether I try to do and internet recovery on the old disc or new disc even though I get a spinning globe showing it's downloading but the utilities menu never comes up. Please help. Thanks.

Why not use Time Machine to backup to an external drive, then restore from Time Machine once the new SSD is installed and formatted ?

frightening to see that such an expensive machine uses a toshiba hard drive.... and not a western digital black drive.
