    Very cool to see you two bring a old bird back to life. Never understood why GM gave up on her. Pontiac firebird and trans am always out class the camero in style and speed. I don't care what anybody says. Please share more on what is going on with the old bird. Ones that can be saved. Need to be saved. Looking forward to see you guys progress.

    Firebirds are my favorite cars, especially the 1st and 2nd gens. FYI a Pontiac 400 is not a big block motor. Basically all Pontiac blocks are the same external size, so there is no big block or small block designation, it's just a Pontiac block. I wince every time I hear someone say "Pontiac big block" lol. Nice car Slick has there.

The home movies with Slick and his family around that car says it all . Family values have always been a big part of your channel . Never loose sight of that . FAMILY FOR ANOTHER 3 or 4 generations and enjoy your family legacy..pull the tank and check to see if the original factory stock sheet is there find out the full true history of it and this will make you even happier for the factory stock restoration.. when y"all are finished. Trust me ..I did this with my 65" Pontiac GTO convertible and I have been offered $300K bye a collector of GTO"s😮 and I" don't regret spending the 22 years it took forever me to find all the original factory stock parts .

    This car could be the perfect next build series for the channel in my opinion. You have done an amazing job thru this channel of making your fans feel like friends and your friends feel like our friends as well. I say you on mechanicals with maybe a guest appearance if possible from the great Mortske and a chance to really see Slicks body work in action and finally a car with some paint (don’t get me wrong, I love the patina cars/trucks) but this one deserves paint. This could be a hit build series and bonus of helping your buddy rebuild a car from his childhood for his kids one day.

    In 1968 my brother came back from Vietnam and was discharged from the army. with the money he had saved up while overseas he bought a Brand new Firebird 350 with a 4 speed. The first time he took it to the local dragstrip he put a rod through the block. Being the junkyard rat that I was and knowing every dismanteler in town I soon found him a 400 ci engine out of a wrecked Bird. It cost us a whole $800. bucks. We did an engine swap in our farm shop and he was back on the road. He never blew up that engine no matter how hard he tried. ah yes the 60's were good times. I am happy to see that you and slick are having some of those same good times right now. 😎🏁

    The rotor needs to be aimed at #1 on the driver's side. Hard to tell in a video but I think you might need to pull the distributor and reset it. And the #1 on the distributor is to the right of center (driver side)

    • @chuckg3517

      Was thinking the same. Maybe a tooth off?

    • @jaysonhallson-ow5gp
      @jaysonhallson-ow5gp Před 7 měsíci +2

      It doesn't matter where the rotor is pointing as long as the #1 plug wire is aligned with the rotor, while the #1 piston is at TDC 0°. The only reason GM points rotor a specific way is so the vacuum advance bell can rotate without hitting something thus minimizing your timing adjustment travel.

    • @GregoryJohnston77
      @GregoryJohnston77 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @jaysonhallson-ow5gp I don't know where you get off thinking that, with the engine at TDC compression on #1 cylinder, the tip of the rotor in the distributor needs to be pointing to the terminal on the cap where you connect the wire to #1 spark plug.

      You can set #1 anywhere on the cap it does not matter as long as the rotor is pointing to it at TDC.

    Wife and I just finished watching your Firebird show. What a jewel bro. I love that Firebird and having you helping out was even better. Her and I are gonna start watching you full time now.

    This is why I NEVER set the lift down on the locks! If it falls they'll catch it within an inch or two I promise! I've seen more people with a car stuck in the air.
    Love the videos with Slick50! 💪🏻🇺🇲

    Keep the firebird content coming and if Slick does the body and paint I would love it not many Pontiacs have a Pontiac motor in them anymore

    Glad to see you broke your teeth on your first 🥇 old school screamer and I hope you have fun doing more of them. I was fortunate enough to get to work on old stuff like that from my 21-30th birthday along with the new stuff that came out at the time. It will be 40+ this fall for me doing this mechanical and fab gigs. Good morning and great day to you all.😊
