    Blimey! Still rocking the Evolution eKeys 49. Don’t see many of those around now. Was my first ever MIDI keyboard when I started on computer music, later joined by one of those 16 knob MIDI controller. I think it was the US-16? Fantastic little device.

    I've been a big fan of the iRig line since the iRig 2, (which I still use), and have since gotten the Duo version of the iRig I/O as my backpack audio interface. The one and only complaint I have about IK Multimedia's design choices is their decision to use 2.5mm jacks for their MIDI breakout connectors. I hope that they'll adopt the much more usable 3.5mm TRS (Type A, IIRC) plugs in the future so we can use TRS midi with a pair aux-in plugs (which are dirt cheap compared to the 5-pin DINs).

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  Před 3 lety

      Yeah, that’s a very good point. 2.5mm jacks are rare these days and always a little frustrating to deal with

    How is IRIG PRO quality when it comes to recording vocals? I had the IRIG PRE for 2 years and it was really good. I ordered IRIG PRE HD couple of weeks back and was disappointed with the vocal quality..I felt that IK had used too much preamp. I am really interested to know if IRIG PRO sound quality when recording vocals is better than IRIG PRe HD

      Hi there my friend. Great to hear from you. I haven’t personally used the iRig Keys but from what I have seen it creates its own audio interface which means the sound will no longer come out of the iPad speaker, but will require headphones or monitor speakers to be connected. Any headphones will do, it my recommended ones are the Sennheiser HD280s which you can check out here - amzn.to/2YGcFfD

So I have put a 1/8 cable from my earphone output on my ipad to my monitor speaker! Now it work great. Never use garageband before. The only thing that I don't really like is the grand piano sound or the other piano sound for midi. I would have love a better sound. Maybe someday we will have it on ios. Hey, I’m kinda new to audio connections and I’m wondering how I would connect an apple device to an apple device to record samples into the other

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  Před 4 lety

      Hey there. Thanks for watching and for your question. It is actually more difficult than you would think to do this. The easiest way is to have the sound recorded as a WAV or other audio file on one device, then use AirDrop to send it to another device. The app “AudioShare” is also very cool and can help you share between devices.
      To actually send audio from an iOS device you can just use the headphone out (or lightning to 3.5mm adapter). The input side is harder because iOS devices have a TRRS input which doesn’t support stereo in, so you would need some sort of audio interface with stereo inputs for the other device - czcams.com/video/Sc-_LiuqiRA/video.html

      Pete Johns thank you for the great reply!!! Slight problem, though, I have an irig pro I/O and I’m trying to play samples on my phone into the sampler in beatmaker 3 on my iPad. So I can use samples from CZcams or any beatmaking app.

    • @PeteJohnsMusic
      @PeteJohnsMusic  Před 4 lety

      Okay. So the iRig Pro I/O is a single channel interface. You will be able to connect the headphone jack output of one device to the iRig connected to the other device and then sample the sound. It will work fine but you will only get a mono signal as you can only plugin a single 1/4” input in the iRig Pro I/O.
      Hope this makes sense.
