    @Home Studio Gear Reviews:: This cable is not proprietary. It's a mini-DIN connector, which was widely used in computer peripherals, namely keyboards and mouses, before USB was introduced in the 90's. Musical instruments never really made a transition from DIN to mini-DIN, probably because mini-DIN is more fragile and not designed to be connected and disconnected multiple times. If you lose your cable, you can find a replacement pretty easily on Amazon or eBay.

    Best damn review I've seen so far. Answers every question I have other than using it for live performance. "this jawn is 8 feet long" made me lol. Absolutely crazy pricing for power cord and replacement proprietary usb cables.

    Thanks for taking the time to do this! Much appreciated. You mentioned that you'd never seen a audio interface/midi controller in one package - Line 6 made one a number of years ago. It was called the KB37, a 37 note keyboard with 2 Mic preamps, 2 line in options (separate from the XLR in), stereo out, etc. I'm looking to replace mine since I can't make it work with a Mac or iPad. Your review helped a lot, cheers!

  • @simplefruitsMTV

    does it has a dedicated volume knob for the monitor and headphone out? Not sure if the knob on this is only for plugin parameters or it works as a volume control for monitors as well.

  • @DrQuarc

    Very cool review video! Helpful. One question, the encoder knobs, are they endless? Or do they have a beginning and end? Means: If you load a new sound for example and use a knob for the first time, does the value jump to its absolute value (like they all do with non-endless knobs) oder does it just change in relation, how endless knobs always behave? Thanks!

    • @homestudiogearreviews
      @homestudiogearreviews  Před 5 měsíci +1

      yes it seems to be an endless knob - the list repeats when you get past the "end"

    The review was very comprehensive. Thank you. Could you please let me know how you feel after owning this for over 2 years now. As far as i can see, there is no successor of this keyboard. There is only irig keys 2 pro.. which has stayed out of stock here for over an year now. Also, iPads are shifting to USB- C so i am really confused whether i should go with i/0 16/49 or wait for irig pro2 or simply go with novation launchkey 37 ( and have a separate interface later with the spare money). I am going to use ios a lot! My laptop isn’t very good right now. So what would you suggest

  • @richardgomes5420
    @richardgomes5420 Před 2 lety +1

    @Home Studio Gear Reviews:: MIDI is standard and it should work just fine with Android too, given that you install a synthesizer software on Android, such as FluidSynth, and you employ an adapter cable such as USB-A to USB-C or maybe USB-A to mini USB-A cable, in case of old mobile phones.

    • @homestudiogearreviews

      might need to change the pedals polarity. Sometimes there is a switch on the pedal. Other times you can change it on the keyboard, though I'm not sure about this one

    That's not what it says, it says charging can only happen for iOS devices, not for Android. This is because they sell an AC Adapter to power the device and it can be used to charge your tablet as well.

    • @kontonapukaczu
      @kontonapukaczu Před rokem

      hey. If you are interested working on Mac and would like to have an integration with Garage Band both are useless in the same way: IrigKeys i/o - control keys (start/stop/knobs) doesnt work with Garage Band on Big Sur macOS (older mac on intel) and Arturia either doesnt has the integrated software. When you got Arturia their packet of synths is controlled by knobs and faders - the same with IrigKeys - knobs work when you play Syntronik (really cool packet of sounds, fully edited in SE version you can authorize with the product).
