imo, Han charging in with confidence only to find he was being led into backup makes so much more sense than running them into a corner and suddenly not having a plan
It's a small change but its 10x funnier and actually makes the stormtroopers much more clever in hindsight, using their numbers and Han's cockiness against him
Also RIP the stormtrooper hitting his head sound effect that was added in

As somebody who's never seen the original cut of the movie I'm actually pretty split. To me the idea of Han running them down only for them to hit a deadend and Han to be facing all of them is hilarious because it shows how quickly Han can get ahead of himself. The special edition is great because it "kind-of" does that but also makes the number of troopers a comical amount.

James has no idea how in luck he is. There’s a 1997 edition of ROTJ that has *exactly* this: The new Victory Celebration music, and Sebastian Shaw as Anakin’s force ghost. I’ve got the version on VHS, and while it still has the terrible Jedi Rocks scene, it has this exact ending combination, and it’s great.

I agree and I disagree. I disagree on the part where if you ignore the prequels, Hayden would make sense. People wouldn’t like it being Hayden if they started out with the OT first. Luke would be able to recognize or put together that it’s Anakin but for viewers, they’ll be confused on why he’s young. I do agree that his ghost should be Hayden because of Anakin’s story is like now from when ROTJ came out. Continuity and story wise, Hayden makes more sense. If people are trying to say he should look old, he should look like a slighter older Hayden because Anakin was 45 years old when he died but he only aged badly due to him turning and the bad stuff that happened to him when he turned.

I honestly think having Hayden be anakin’s ghost makes a lot more sense. The only real arguments you could make for it to be Shaw is if you started with the OT and how they could’ve done it better. If you’re considering in the prequels and anakin’s story now, there is no reason for Anakin’s force ghost of him being old. I would’ve had Anakin be more happy and probably more emotional seeing himself redeemed and looking at Luke again alongside Kenobi and Yoda.
Anakin was only 45 years old when he died. Why would he look like an old man? People say he got “healed” when he was redeemed and how that’s how he would look if he never turned but wouldn’t he still look like Hayden when he’s 45 years old and only looked like that because he turned? He turned to the dark side and was physically scarred.
Another reason why it makes more sense to Hayden is that most of the characters who know Anakin would know of his younger self and before he turned into Vader. This even extends to when he was Vader himself. Whenever he thought of “Anakin Skywalker”, it was his younger self. Very little people knew Vader was Anakin. Luke did but it’s not like he’s dumb enough or doesn’t have some special powers to not fucking know that the young guy who appeared with Yoda and Kenobi, is his father.
If anything, he should still look like a slightly older Hayden if people are wanting him to be old but his ghost shouldn’t look like an 80 year old man.

Speaking of this they did Boba and Anakin in the special, I think they should redo it now. Temuera couldn’t give his best performance because he was supposedly delivering it over the phone and at a bad time. People also think he should use his new Boba voice.
