I feel like a movie mostly about someone surviving alongside a Predator and overcoming their language barrier would make for an amazing movie.
They actually have something like that in the predator comics, but then the lady decides to side against the Yautja that took her in all because she discovered they kill humans... which, given they're a hunter race that does a hunt on every planet they attend and she has participated in hunts prior, I don't know why she was shocked by it. Other predators literally referred to her as prey and a few other things after she figured out and learned the language. But yeah, I'd love to see a movie like you describe. (Especially if it has a better end than that comic run, just because I like the idea of Yautja and humans banding together.)

Scar low key looked out for Lex. He knew the ship truthfully was watching the whole time just waiting to see if scar could survive n be a true hunter. Either way he knew his body would’ve been retrieved n if he hadn’t marked Lex, the other predators probably would’ve killed her without second thought. In a way it actually is….sweet? 🤷🏾♂️

I remember being disappointed in how quickly that first predator was taken out, he didn't even get a proper fight scene with the alien. If it were me, I would have had two of the predators survive till the end, have the queen kill one of them, and then brought the survivor back for the sequel instead of introducing a whole new predator cleaner.
But they needed a predalien for a sequel

Yeah, I'm with you there. My buddy & I argued and debated over who would win for months before this movie came out. The one agreement we came to was that one Predator can beat one Xeno in a fair fight. Quality vs Quantity. Chopper dying made sense because it was an ambush *while Chopper was cloaked.* Youngblood never had to fight something without eyes before. Preds came in at a serious disadvantage. They like the heat, but the battleground is ludicrously cold. They hunt humans by heat but Xenos don't give off heat. They have a special vision for Xenos, but it renders humans almost invisible. Hence they constantly have to switch back & forth. Add in that they're outnumbered and fighting prey that gets more dangerous every time it doesn't die and can track them better than they can track it; the Preds played on Hard Mode. Scar played on Legendary against a goddamn Queen.

I'm just disappointed that they keep making distinct unique predators just to be killed. Predators are supposed to be the perfect hunters yet are killed like Cannon fodder, unless there is only a single one, then suddenly it takes a whole movie to kill it. The CGI and Effects in this movie were actually pretty good, I’m not gonna lie...
Aside from the blood
To be fair, the CGI blood was only added in for the Unrated Cut of the film, so it was pretty much just slapped on at the last minute to address criticisms of the PG13 rating.
I think they made the right choice. The human blood wasn't as important as the sci-fi blood. The censors don't care as much about slime and glowing green blood as they do human gore. By toning down on red blood and keeping it PG-13, they allowed for a bigger audience without sacrificing Xeno & Pred gore. Adding in more gore in post was probably meant to be fanservice, but it honestly detracts from the film.
I like Avp1 better than Avp requiem.
This was the first Alien movie i ever saw so it has a special place in my heart. Seeing it get a kill count is great. I havent seen it in so long. Edit: I didnt say much because im confuddled. I just got the full 3 minute song of Never Gonna Give You Up. Its just the whole song its not even an ad for something

Amazing thing about AVP is that it's both a sequel of the first two Predator movies as well as prequel to all the Alien movies and have mix of the sense of both prequel and sequel.
What frustrates me about this movie is how Scar never realizes he was impregnated and how the Queen’s stab doesn’t kill the alien inside him.

He can't. Queenie ain't dead. Amazingly, nothing they did can actually kill her. Xenos don't eat, they don't breathe, pressure doesn't bother them, and Queenie was frozen 100 years when we found her, so cold doesn't bother them either.
Logistically, Queenie's still kicking at the bottom of the Antarctic. Badass.

I like this movie. It gave us 3 cool Predators and Grid (who's one of my favorite Xenomorphs) and overall it was just good fun while still having a good plot. Lex and Scar were a total power couple.

The fact that they just abandoned Lex after this movie was so fucking disappointing. Imagine her showing up A la Sarah Connor in Dark Future halfway through Requiem hunting xenos and have her help kill the hybrid, would have been epic
I was 23 when this came out and remember going yo see this with like 25 people at a midnight showing. I remember it being a big deal and I think a couple of sci-fi enthusiasts riled a bunch of us up haha. I remember having fun. We also went to go see “Driven” with Sly Stallone in just as large a group so no accounting for taste.
Confession: this movie made me realize I was into monsters. I shipped Scar and Lex before I knew what shipping was.

I give AVP credit where it's due. It expanded on the lore in interesting ways (mostly for the Preds). We got to see updated Predator weapons with consistent effects, distinct designs for each of the Initiates weapons, masks, and fighting styles, as well as a great battlefield for them. That opening shot shows us how Preds have different visions for humans (based on body heat) and Xenos (based on their exoskeletons). Each vision is only effective against one, and renders the other nearly invisible. Add in the fact that Predator cloaking means nothing to creatures without eyes, and we had a great clash on our hands. It gave us good creature effects, some surprisingly good fights, and all the sets looked fantastic. The frozen-over whaling station, the ice tunnel, the pyramid itself; they give the movie a distinct look unlike AVPR or The Predator that only gave us generic slasher locations you could see in a student project.
I was so psyched for this movie when it came out and I still love it. My biggest regret is that Celtic lost to a single Xeno, even a cool one like Grid. With only 3 Preds against dozens of Xenos in various stages, I argued with my buddy that Preds had quality while Xenos had quantity. Chopper died via ambush, which made sense, but Celtic lost outright. That still bugs me.
One thing I'd hoped for in the sequel was the return of the Xeno Queen, since technically, even being trapped at the bottom of the Antarctic Ocean won't actually kill her. Xenos don't eat, they don't breathe, and as we saw at the beginning, cold doesn't bother them. I hoped for aquatic Xenos on earth and Predalien in space. Instead I got....AVPR.

I swear I thought scar was saved by the other predators when they came to get him. I’m sobbing now and it’s 3am 😭
So i was only 4 when this movie came out and one day (when i was 5 and long after it was released on dvd) my great-aunt (grandpas sister) asks me if i want to watch it. Im all like "yeah im a big kid now! I can watch it!" Well i remember genuinely being traumatized when Rousseaus thrussy got got and then watching her get chest bursted. Seeing the full alien legit gave me ptsd. Im 21 now and its been about 2 years since ive had a night terror about the alien. It was my sleep paralysis demon, the monster under the bed, the villain in all my nightmares...thank you James sincerely from the bottom of my heart for making jokes and allowing me to laugh at my worst fears. Youve helped me get over something that was crippling my mind and thats why i love you so much man thank you💚

Dude Scar and Lex were HELLA cute. It really was the first movie I'd seen that suddenly opened my eyes to the fucking amazing love between humans and monsters/non-humans.
Dakota Garcia the fan art is so cute , and honestly I need more human monster / alien love cause it’s adorable.
My problem with it is its established Scar is a teenager and Lex is late 20s early 30s?

I love the Predator-human team up. I just think that is amazing how the two can team up with out verbally communicating. Even tho it was a movie i just think it was really cool.

Sadly I'm in the crowd that thinks they made the Xenomorphs too dumb. Although considering how smart they are in the Alien movies I guess it makes sense to dumb them down a bit, but they seemed to just throw themselves away in these movies not even going for stealth as much as they normally do.

It’s interesting to find that I was not the only small child watching predator vs. alien to ship the main heroine and scar. Even as a kid I thought that it was kinda weird but I shipped them regardless. You can thank my dad for falling asleep a lot whilst watching tv, that how I got away with watching South Park... he had the night shifted a lot for work, and this was before me and my siblings had full reign of the internet, so we were bored a lot...
