I love how matpat is just going on side quests now that he has more free time since stepping down as the main host on theorist
He wanders
He only quit after he partook in the fnaf movie
Matpat stepped down in January of this year, the movie released in October of last year, and was probably being made over the summer of 2023.
@@a-10warthog78 He said the movie was filmed the year prior of release
This movie came out months before he retired. And was likely filmed many months before, being that his was the first scene filmed, and he was needed for no other scenes.
Fun fact: "Talking In Your Sleep" was released in *1983.* I think it's cool they used a song that was out during important time lines from fnaf.
the movie took a decade and people wanted it to be perfect, so it makes sense they would have those small details correct.
that song had been playing in my job’s lobby for months before the movie came out i thjnk dq was tryna tell me something
Not FNAF related, but for the upcoming Bendy movie, its needledrop should be the song "smile darn ya smile" for one thing, it's a 1931 song. second, its lyrics are positivity themed which would be interesting to listen to in the despair themed world of the cycle (and could have a dark humor scene showing a character having a breakdown while this song plays in the background). Third, it kinda associates well with bendy because bendy has an iconic grin. And last, the song was needledroped in "who framed Roger Rabbit", a live action/animated hybrid movie.
was that the song of 88
@@shacharlem4424 wait bendy and the ink machine's gonna have a movie now too!?
"I always come back." is actually a flip on the quote from the Fnaf 3 trailer "He will come back, He always does, we have a place for him." Afton does that a lot in the series.
Nope, the line is directly from the games. It's one of his kill quotes in Pizzeria Sim and UCN
YEAH IN FANF 3 HE SAID WHAT A DISPECTIVE CALLING ITS ALSO A FAMOUS LINE ASWELL
@PlayerZeroStart which was originally a flip of the original words of fnaf 3 trailer saying "he will come back, he always does"
thats a common easter egg i hate to tell ya
Did he become a virus in the very game as glitch trap
Yeah, but that was already a Chucky quote
23:21 Not only is this an amazing cameo, I feel the fact that MatPat's stepping down soon makes it extra special.
Agreed
On my birthday, no less.
Missed him already 😢

His cameo was basically his entire career going full circle. His FNAF theories videos are probably his known well known content and to tie things up with him showing up in the FNAF movie brings it all together.

10:57 one little thing you missed though, everyone was killed in ways that reference the games, not just foxy and freddy's kills. In FNAF 1, Bonnie is the only animatronic you'll ever see in the supply closet and Bonnie kills his guy in a supply closet. In FNAF 4, you actually *can* in fact get killed by Carl the cupcake as he has his own jumpscare and the jumpscare looks similar to how the other guy was killed by the cupcake in the movie

@@atomic3968You need to get some thicker skin, bro.
I respect James so hard. He's not afraid to tell anyone his mind but then also makes sure you know that he understands that this movie was made for the fans above anything else, and that what he thinks doesn't really matter since it wasn't made for him. I truly respect anyone willing to give their own thoughts on something, but then also acknowledge that while it's their opinion, don't disregard the movie cause it wasn't made for them. Truly a respectful and caring man, even for stuff that may not be directly in his line of sight.

His uniform under his suit is supposed to be purple, not his skin. Thats due to the simplification that happens when translating to 8bit
I never thought MatPat would make a Dead Meat cameo. Great to see him one more time. This movie's pretty good. The animatronics in this movie are super impressive, and I love all the lore and references. Plus, Mathew Lillard is amazing once again.
Jim Henson creations are always impressive.
I'm glad James got him to appear.
He is the king of fnaf maybe more than Markiplier so I'm not surprised
He’s still going to be active on the internet imo, and I wouldn’t be surprised if in 5-7 years (maybe after a trilogy of FNAF games concludes) he comes back and starts a weekly or monthly podcast, or he’ll pop in for cameos in the game theory episodes the new hosts start doing every once in awhile
James actually was in a Film Theory episode about Jason (I think.)

It does come up again. We’re shown a few times that when the kids attack Mike in the dream, the animatronics attack him irl
the Freddy Kureuger stab wounds actually do show up again in the movie. After The ghost kids and Mikes family disappear in his dreams, the five kids each have their turn driving a knife somewhere into mike, which explains all the torn clothing and bandages in 17:56 when we catch up with Mike.
Fun Fact: Foxy’s singing is provided by Kellen Goff, who is also the voice of Glamrock Freddy, Funtime Freddy, Sun/Moon/Eclipse and a bunch of other characters in the FNAF games.
And Kellen goth is a voice for many other characters in 21st century games and shows like mobile app game Cookie Run: Kingdom, where he voice acts as wind archer cookie and schwarzwälder and the sugar gnomes, other titles include bezel the clock from chicken nuggit, Dr animo from 5 years later, and many many many more voice rolls he has
He is also Diavolo in the JoJo: Golden Wind dub
Last seen on the Kill Count as the Shovel in Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared 6.
I just commented something similar,I was hoping he was going to say something about him in the kill count,I met Kellen a few years ago at a convention,he signed a Overhaul pop for me.
He also voices overhaul in mha and porco in aot
I kind of expected MatPat to show up in this video, largely since James did a cameo in an episode of Film Theory, but man it was still very great when he showed up. And kudos for James for doing such a great job on this video while being upfront of not knowing a lot of the lore prior to this.
Oh YEAH I forgot about that-! Which Film Theory was that again?

Fun fact: The child actress who plays Chica's ghost is the daughter of Bonnie's suit actor. There's lots of photos on their Instagram of them on set together. Not only that but Bonnie's suit actor is also the father of the boy who played young Henry Creel in Stranger Things.
Oh wow that’s so cute ! his children probably find acting cool because of him im sure they love going to sets with him even if they’re just watching

This is probably the best Cameo on the channel for me. Matapat and Cory definitely deserved to be in the movie, but it is kinda sad Mark couldn't make it because he was making Iron Lung.
He is supposed to be in the second movie hopefully
Fr, but I hope Mark will appear in the second film as well as Cory.
Maybe for the inevitable sequel? I'm not a Fnaf fan due to brain incompatibility (seizures from trying it cause it does sound awesome but alas happens sometimes). I love seeing things made with passion for the fans do well. It's a joy I have never forgotten after Batman Begins that reshaped my views on adaptations entirely.

I'm just as hyped to have a MatPat cameo here than I was to see him in the Movie. Nice touch. The FNAF movie did exactly what it was supposed to do, which was to be a love letter to the fans and to bring new people into the Fazbear fueled madness. It was for the Culture.

I thought it was obvious that Foxy decided to carve into Mike's arm as he was sleeping since he was standing in the doorway prior to the dream sequence? The same happens later when all of the animatronics take him into the SAW torture chamber
I think it's always the ending song that makes me so happy and nostalgic because of that classic song help bringing me into the FNAF fandom 😢
Same for me, but for a different reason. I had been a fan of his since he early days doing pony songs, so seeing him actually get a song he did in a major theatrical film is just amazing.
Carl the Cupcake pretty much carried the whole movie by going on a kill streak and was the biggest menace in the whole movie
nah wrd he was a menace😭
I’d say foxy carried he shared bodies with the cupcake and got the closest to killing mike
Okay so in the Lore, Chica is possessed by the soul of a little girl named Susie. Susie's dog had been hit and killed by a car but the murderer William Afton told her they found her dog and lured her to the backroom where she was killed.
I believe that in the movie, the dog was a Chihuahua and is possessing the Cupcake
like that one video with the edited spiderman audio
His name is Mr cupcake
23:11 MatPat making a special Dead Meat appearance had me Surprised.
The Movie was Great, the references they had in it were Good like Shadow Freddy and Sparky the Dog suits being shown. Cory, MatPat being in the movie was Cool and Matthew Lillard did an Amazing job playing William Afton. Love that the Classic FNAF theme song by The Living Tombstone in the End Credits. Although, it would've been Awesome to see Markiplier as the Guard in the opening scene that was getting chased by Foxy, who was the first animatronic to give him a Jumpscare in his FNAF Gameplays.
Well they are friends after all
I CALLED IT
AM SO DUMBFOUNDED FROM THIS LIKE OH MY GOD I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT AT ALL
Mark actually wanted to play a role in the movie but was heavily pre-occupied making Iron Lung, but if there's a part 2 iirc he said he'd be willing to be in it (don't quote me, it was seen in passing on Twitter)
It was especially surprising because Matpat constantly insisted on GTlive that they never reached out to him, and even did a good job pretending to sound sad and slightly bitter about it.
MatPat: *shows up randomly*
James: A killcount theory?:D
MatPat:Yeah……. *confused* I guess it would be that.
the gash on mikes arm in the dream was when foxy gashed him in his sleep

That get to the numbers warmed my heart. I discovered Dead Meat thanks to Mat mentioning kill count in a film theory once so seeing him and James interact was great to see
18:23 love when he yells THE COPS!
8:12 The implication is that Foxy was in the office while Mike slept. You can even see him retreating after Mike wakes up
Plus this DOES happen again when Mike sacrifices his sister in his dream, the kids attack him and when he wakes up, he’s hurt badly and strapped into the face blender from the opening!
Thank you for the explanation! I admit I was wondering the same thing as him.
Could have been done with Foxy intentionally too since in Fnaf 1 Foxy comes out a lot more if the player isn't looking at the cameras and Mike in that scene was sleeping instead of looking at the cams
Yeah that makes plenty of sense honestly. The giant probably 500+ pound metal machine that stomps about as it walks stealthily cut his wrist and ran off for... literally no reason I guess other than to just fuck with him?
Like, did the real life Foxy just intend to scare him away or did it have something to do with him grabbing dream Foxy and real Foxy just went "Oh shit, he just grabbed my kid ghost version of me in his lucid dream, I better scratch him a little so he doesn't get any information probably, that's how this works maybe."

I think the "cheesy ass sequence" is PERFECT characterization. It shows that the animatronics are still just kids, and they are just as playful as Abby
IMO I don't get how people defend that goofy ass scene. Sure they're kids but they are angry, vengeful beings who attack out of fear and anger. Years of rotting in those putrid suits turned them into wraiths of anger that would be unrecognizable to their parents. Also that scene completely breaks any tension set up in the film.
@@scoobysnak07Still kids, ya goof.
@scoobysnak07 because it fits the narrative. They are kids who made friends with Abby and could actually enjoy the childhood that was stolen from them. Their anger and vengeance is saved for the adults and not the fellow kids. The only reason they even saved Mike is because she told them not to hurt him.
@@CowKirbo true it does fit the idea that, "they interact with the kids just fine", but personally I still think the scene was too out of place and was a detriment to the scary tone of the film (which was practically nonexistent)

The thing about Afton is that he actually *did* die. But since the animatronics are able to trap souls, that's exactly the case for Afton. His soul is trapped inside of the suit along with his corpse.
21:42 dude my friends and I were absolutely ecstatic in this scene, it was just a whole bunch of “oh my god!” “Yas! The spring locks” one of my friends and I unintentionally held hands and I accidentally held hers too tight cuz I got so excited
For anyone who is confused about the springlocks, here’s a super quick and basic on how they work/kill you. It’s basically millions of super high tension springs holding billions of robotic parts to the sides of the suit. When these springs shit the bed (which is a pretty easy thing to happen), these robot parts shoot into the person in the suit at terrifying speeds. Piercing the flesh and shattering bones, ripping organs and tearing the person apart from every angle. The movies version was a whole lot less brutal, but the movies rendition is still bone chillingly horrific knowing what’s going on inside that suit.
Edit for clarification: soooo billions was an overstatement. Still a crap ton of robo parts. Also, I made the death seem a lot quicker than it is. In the games, it’s a slow process of being unable to scream due to vocal cords being ripped to bits and slowly drowning in your own blood due to your lungs being impaled on many sides.
Billions is a bit of an overstatement, but yeah, it's not pleasant. It's not quite as instant a kill as you portray, though: they might not shatter bone, but they have a tendency to pierce from several angles and lead to death by blood loss, infamously (in at least one continuity) piercing the victim's lungs and throat, preventing them from calling for help while they drown in their own blood.
Springlocks sound like something Jigsaw would make ngl.
Yo i'm a FNAF noob when it comes to lore, but when that one kid was put inside of an animatronic's mouth by his big brother and friends, wasn't it his tears falling onto the machinery that made the animatronic's mouth malfunction and bite him?

Her death was like so unexpectedly brutal for a PG-13 that it makes much more rewarding Golden Chainsaw. The best kill award is going to be harsh between Max and Valentina from Saw X
@@Myomer104 Yea I wish we could've seen more of it
@@DodoRibeiro-ts6po Yea I agree, I have seen Saw X yet, I'll have to check out the kill count for it
i cant believe they got Ness from the hit film Five Nights at Freddy’s to come on dead meat
Fun fact the movie was supposed to made in 2022 but because of the dlc bugs issues and some character details it was moved to 2023 halloween. Another fun fact is this is one of the most awaited movie in the entirety of horror franchise’s!
Fun Fact! I actually met the actor for Hank at Six Flags here in Texas. He was working as an actor for those cowboy shows the amusement park puts on. He's a really great actor and person overall.
I died when MatPat showed up. My words were literally “IS THAT FUCKING MATPAT!?!?”
Same lol 😂
this is quite a year for matpat, not surprised seeing him on this kill count!
23:25 He is getting closer and closer to a final one
Less than two weeks 😢❤
Final what???
@@tiphanieseantay958Game Theory. MatPat is retiring.
@@quickman2663Ten years too late.
im so sad, bro im going to miss him so much
The person who plays max is actually my grandmas friend and I go to church with her, my mom even sat next to her at a party.
ur voice and explanation is amazing. keep on explaining and doing ur research STOP UR SO EDUCATED I HEART U
22:39 “COME FIND ME” may be a reference to an ending of Custom Night in Sister Location, where Michael goes through a monologue about himself and the animatronics, ending with “I’m going to come find you”
“Father. It's me, Michael. I did it. I found it. It was right where you said it would be. They were all there. They didn't recognize me at first but then they thought I was you. And I found her. I put her back together, just like you asked me to. She's free now. But something is wrong with me. I should be dead. But I'm not. I've been living in shadows. There is only one thing left for me to do now. I'm going to come find you. *I'm going to come find you.”*
It's actually an Easter Egg to Puppet and Minigames in FNAF 2.
I’m pretty sure it’s puppet related. That’s why they add the music box and the robot voice.
@@neme2877correct
It could be Garret
@@DragonZ-sf1fb yeah he could be puppet
Oh James, not only did a servo almost set Foxy on fire... It actually happened for real, as i believe Emma Tammi recalls being on set and hearing one of the crew members whisper to another: "Foxy's arm is on fire"
Ok so that's how foxy got burnt in help wanted
free weathering ‼️
saw this in theatres in MN and everyone freaked when matpat came on lolol
Five Nights at Freddy’s is what got me into horror as a genre, so seeing it get a kill count is like the ultimate honor
Some fans theorize that the "come find me" voice in the credits could be foreshadowing for the second movie because the puppet's music box was playing in the background. Some think that Mike's younger brother, Garrett, might be the puppet and that it's like a message to Mike to come find him.
But if we’re going off of lore garret should not be the puppet
@@isabelleshepherd9552why not
yh but the movies are seperate from the game and book lore as mikes isnt williams son and williams controlling the children so i think this theory could definently be true@@isabelleshepherd9552
@@isabelleshepherd9552true but to be fair this movie isn’t entirely lore accurate either
@@doctorsno906 Yeah sadly i wish they would have Made it fully based off lore
The theater I was in had a good amount of kids and not only were they a good audience, a kid in the same row as me would whisper-yell excitedly "Chica!" Whenever she was on screen. That was truly so adorable and made it more fun knowing how much these kids loved this horror thing that was age appropriate
Why were there kids in a violent movie screening? Lol bad parenting lol downvoted! ^_^
@@ThatOneToucan1. It shouldn’t matter to you what the parents let them watch
2. Downvote is for Reddit
3. If you’re gonna downvote, why? What does OP have to do with anything said?
@@wendigoosethewendigogoose9185 Lol downvoted
It does concern me because parents are letting their kids watch this 15 rated movie, which screams to me bad parenting.
It even has swears in too, so it's bad parenting if they let their kids watch a 15 rated movie with gore and swearing
So they don't even deserve to have kids, or they should have aborted them from the start when the bint of the parenting got pregnant.
Which wog is letting kids watch a 15 rated movie?
Some single female who doesn't know how to raise a child probably
@@ThatOneToucan it’s not even that gorey
@@wendigoosethewendigogoose9185 theyre probably just trolling
imma just tell you this, trying to acknowledge the game's lore is like trying to drink from a fire hose. You will be confused, save yourself the trouble and only look up the bare minimum
7:09 HE SAID TEH THING!!!!
Sparky the dog was actually the first HOAX character of the franchise.
He originated from a fake screenshot of a dog animatronic peeking into parts and service.
Fake animatronics being created and claimed to be real was a prominent trend during the first and second game and Sparky was the first.
It was a huge suprise seeing him in the movie
They were still being made during FNaF 3 and even 4. Though becoming less prominent as they went on.
@@Smashbros17 yeah that was the time where I heard less and less of em, if at all.
Aside from Fredbear from that FNAF 3 teaser, I can't recall any hoax character from around that time
I’m pretty sure hoaxes of Phantom Bonnie and a Nightmare JJ were going around for a short amount of time
@@mynameisharry8739Don't forget the Shadow Bonnie hoax.
@ender01o66 Shadow Bonnie wasn’t a hoax, just exceedingly rare. Markiplier got him on stream at one point semi-recently.
