This whole "rip the spine to steal the dna in their spinal fluid" thing just completely ignores the fact that the Yautja are consistently shown to discard the spine afterwards and only keep the skulls as trophies.
I feel like this entire movie is just trying to over complicate things to feel smart, however all it ends up being is wrong. Whether it is why the spine and skull are ripped out or autism, this movie gets nothing right
There's something about the logical leap of:
1: "One of my men is screaming in pain"
2: "I'll shoot an unsupressed weapon at him to keep the noise down"
It just made me laugh my ass off.
This whole movie had me laughing my ass off. It's just a top-tier spoof disguised as a legit entry in the series.

And honestly the only autistic thing he did was not like loud noises. And that wasn't even consistent. They didn't show him not answering questions or having trouble socializing. He seems to talk to everyone with ease. As someone who's brother has autism I can say this movie's representation of autism sucks.

One of the few lines in this shit show of a movie I actually kind of like, not gonna lie.
I saw PREY this past weekend. Best Predator movie since the first. The Predator looks amazing and I already can't wait for James to cover it. Perhaps in 2023.

I gotta say, while it is a pretty good movie overall, Prey is rather unrealistic and stupid with multiple different things and it's pretty inconsistent with the other films and the comics. Like eating a flower does not hide your body temp, no matter how special that flower is. In real life the flower (or at least the one it's based on) can help reduce fevers and such and can lower body temp very slightly, but not by much, and certainly not enough to affect a Predator's vision. And also they portrayed that Predator as having the situational awareness and reaction speed of a deaf snail with an overgrown shell blocking its vision. A Predator is also not stupid enough to fall for the trick of the laser sight being on it rather than what he's aiming at, even if that were how their weapons worked. And that's not even mentioning the lack of speed and finesse of this Predator and how extremely clumsy he is, or the fact that a single gunshot from a very old pistol with very little power compared to modern day guns was able to knock the helmet off of the Predator's head and make him bleed, and the fact that old pistols like that needed to have the gunpowder put in and the ball projectile needed to be pushed back to the back, and could roll out if held wrong, so her being able to fire that pistol multiple times without doing any of that is very unrealistic as is her pointing the pistol towards the ground and slowly lifting it before firing at the Predator

Same here. I’m also on the autism spectrum, and I’m more likely to blow myself up before I get that Preddy gear working, and that’s if I decide to mess with it; chances are more likely that I’d use it as cosplay gear for a convention.
"Fun" fact: the scene where Bracket is picked up by the G-men was supposed to start off with her getting hit on by a creepy guy but they cut the scene because it turns out that he was a sex predator who once lured a 14 year old - and Shane Black knew all this! Olivia Munn found out and called it out on set and made the producers cut his scene. Shane had the audacity to be pissed off about that too.
I’m glad the Prey prequel revived this franchise! I hope that the writers of that one make another one
Frankly I hate the "Ultimate Predator", the Yautja have always given off the impression of being very traditional and proud of their heritage,and the notion of genetically modifying themselves seems to fly in the face of everything we know of their culture.
i thought the same thing they always seemed very rigid to me ive always thought of their culture being like the krogan from mass effect but less infighting and they are smarter
Yeah particularly since, for all its faults, Predators seemed to be setting up something genuinely interesting with that same concept of genetic modification. When I saw that, I thought the hook they were setting up was some interspecies conflict between traditional predator society and a cabal of outcasts who have augmented and thus dishonored themselves in its eyes. That gives an even better reason for the Predators to be fighting in this movie. We still have the "good" predator nominally on humanity's side because of a common enemy, but it's in keeping with the established culture and lore of the Yautja.
But no instead they decided to defile the entire concept of the predator in the single worst way possible.

Prey brought back what everyone loves about the original predator. Basically undoing what this movie did

I genuinely appreciate James's call out of the problematic portrayal of autism, as an autistic adult myself. He is a good ally. 😊

I honestly love that kill when he lazily slaps the guy on his back. Shows how effortlessly he can kill but chooses to use everything he has.
I'm glad someone did. For me and many others it devalued so much of the movie and extended lore surrounding the predators. Watching him plan and methodically take out Arnie and his men in the first predator show while they're superior to us, it still took skill and cunning to win their hunt. Here he's just an OP alien destroying people effortlessly. How is this a hunt worthy of a Predator? lol.

Thanks for calling out the movie's bullshit about autism. As someone with autism (Asperger's), autism isn't some sort of superpower, and I'm sick of people thinking it is. You get the Golden Chainsaw for keeping it real.
Asperger’s isn’t even a recognized diagnosis anymore. Now autism is just autism, or autism spectrum disorder. Asperger’s (now “mild autism”) is also one of the most over-diagnosed mental disorders there is, so more than likely you’re just socially awkward with a sprinkle of Tourette’s/OCD/bipolar or whatever. At least that’s the general consensus for the massive uptick in autism diagnoses throughout the years

Honestly, the idea that someone thought a human boned a Yautja and had a kid with one is the only good thing in this movie, and is something I would like to see very much in a future installment.

The guy doing a Shoulder tackle om the predator is the worst
Seriously. They make the predators nearly unbeatable to show how formidable they are... and then they basically trip over a rock and die. I mean, you’re telling me a tiny human with what, maybe 15-20 years’ combat experience killed an elite, centuries-old hunter? Please. I mean it’s possible to defeat them but DAMN so many writers take such lazy ways out. Quicksand? Hyenas? LITERALLY tripping and falling? Come on, guys.
The first movie made it look badass without taking away from the badassery of the predator, making it clear Dutch had to put every single last ounce of power he could just to knock it down, let alone kill it.
I saw this in theaters against my better judgment. After seeing the trailer I was expecting it to be bad but it ended up being even worse than I thought. One of the only times I actually left the theater actually kind of pissed that I wasted my money.

it pains me that the movie forgets that the yautja's whole life's purpose is finding the greatest hunt, if they really thought humans had good dna they would just be claiming more trophies, not "creating the best hunter", also one of the biggest things in predator lore is that if you lose a hunt you have to sore loser self destruct, good thing the predators in this movie did that.
I would have been fine with it if the ultimate predator was part of a bad-blood group who strayed away from Yautja practices. Like they wanted to be better than the other clan members and clans in general but I can’t agree with it if it’s most if not all predator clans that want to do this
If they did anything related to genetic engineering, it would be to create a prey that poses the greatest challenge, and humans as we are right now are one of the two favorite prey of the Yautja, with the other being the Xenomorphs.

I hate how all predator movies except the first and AVP have some kind of dynamic where the Predators become either friendly or an ally out of circumstance, but then this ally just immediately dies or disappears. AVP is the only one where it kind of kicked some ass before brutally dying. In basically all other movies when it comes time for an 'ally' predator to battle the main villain predator, the ally predator just immediately gets its ass kicked just so the plot can make the villain predator that much more threatening.

I have no idea how I didn't notice this until 4 years after this video came out and after rewatching this video, but @10:09, that kid to the left is wearing a costume that resembles the original Predator design that Jean-Claude Van-Damme wore, right down to the red color used to help with the camouflaging process in post production, right down to the big white eyes.

The main thing that got me this movie that and the ultimate one's death when the kids dad ask what he is or something can't remember then tells it to stfu so stupid that and it being a comedy just ruined the franchise in my opinion cause like if the fugitive one is on humanity's side why just kill them instead of explaining himself just to many bad stuff in this movie to make sense
