  • Been absolutely loving the ICECO VL45. It's simple and works well! Does everything I need it to do without any fuss.

    I bought the same unit, during the same sale for my Scout Yoho. Agree 100% with everything you said. I'm super happy with this fridge.
    Thanks for the videos.

    agree on the baskets. i have the 75L dual zone ICECO and those make a big difference. makes cleaning / loading+unloading super easy. plus, can't beat price.

    This is so funny that you just did this review because I was watching previous video's of yours and hadn't heard of this brand so I looked it up and thought the same thing you did. Construction looked heavy duty, good looking, didn't take up a ton of space and a good price. We took a chance on it and ordered ours a week ago. It came a couple of days ago. I plugged it into the wall outlet at home to make sure it was going to work and was very impressed at how fast it cooled down. So far I think it will suit our needs well. Going to use it on our first trip next weekend.

      Time will tell how it’s longevity is, but it was a worthwhile chance for me to take. So far so good! Hopefully yours works just as well for you!

    Definitely a good deal. It’s budget minded but really don’t need all the bells and whistles. Need to work and last for a long time. Danfoss is a very good name for compressors, so really can’t go wrong. Thanks for the honest review. By the way, really liked your build series on the camper. You really did a great job on it and it looks great on your truck. Things mean so much more when you can do it yourself. Keep up the great videos and hope your channel continues to grow.

    This was awesome! Thank you for the honest review after almost half a year of use. I really liked the fact that you've used in the back of a standard SUV (CX-5) and have had no problems. It does appear to be big enough for a week's worth of food too. Just the video I was looking for!

    I have the same setup. I’ve been using it every weekend since the end of April, about 40 nights in the woods so far. It runs great off of my Jackery 1000 and I plug it into the back of the Tacoma when driving. I blow out the vents regularly as it is very dusty here.

      Quick question, I was worried about the fans getting all dusty like you mentioned. Do you just use a compressed duster/can and blow it into the vents to clean it out? How does that seem to work? I found a really nice 40% off discount code and am thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these bad boys.

    I have the VL60 dual, and I love it. I have four fridges, one of which is an Engel, and I'll take the Iceco over any of the others. They're very well built and use a top quality compressor. The one unknown is what their customer service is like, and I'll hopefully never have to find out. Customer service from Engel has been HORRIBLE. I also have a small Alpicool, and it seems to be very well built, and works flawlessly.
    Based on years of experience with car fridges, I really think Iceco is as good as they get. I think the very high prices on the "designer" brands buy you nothing more than bragging rights.

      @pnwxplore  Před 2 lety

      Glad to hear that you are loving your iceco as well! I agree, it’s seems sturdy and quality so far seems ample, especially for the price. I have heard horror stories about support from national Luna as well.

    What kind of silicone have you used for the inside edges, is it safe to use since it will get in touch of food?

    • @pnwxplore
      @pnwxplore  Před rokem +1

      Food doesn’t touch it as all food I pack is in a bag or container or gets washed. It’s just standard interior silicone that would be used on counters in say a kitchen or in the bathroom, etc.

    I recently bought this fridge and so far so good. Only problem is it will never get below 7° even though the digital display shows 00. I tried 2 different digital refrigerator thermometers. I put some ice cream in (along with a lot of other pre-frozen foods) as a test and it doesn't get quite cold enough. If there was a way to have compressor run longer it would definitely hit 0 degrees. Works great as a refrigerator though! Thanks for the review

    • @billley3960
      @billley3960 Před 2 lety

      Just an update. Although the fridge is nice and for the most part works OK, other than the actual temp is way off from display temp. Iceco is the absolute WORST when it comes to customer service. I will personally never buy another iceco product.

  • @schadlarry
    @schadlarry Před 3 lety +1

    How serviceable are these fridges? Looks like you could access switches, compressor etc if needed. Another YTer suggested buying the cheaper fridges and then chucking them into a landfill once the die, which I completely disagree with. Anyway good review, and I'm waiting for the next sale on these. Can't decide between the 45 or they make a 37, which you can buy different lids and increase capacity if need be down the road.

  • @samandkay26

    I just received mine yesterday, and noticed there's a 6-8 degree difference from the set temperature. Is this normal? I've had it plugged in for about 27 hours now and on average the fan turns off at about 7 degrees from set temp.

    • @pnwxplore
      @pnwxplore  Před 2 lety

      Mine typically cools to just below the set temp and then kicks on a few degrees higher than set temp

      @@pnwxplore okay thanks. I was looking into this and mounting it to a decked storage system. I just am curious about the weight of the fridge + food on the slide mechanism. You think its enough to hold it all up?

    Sure wish they would have put the power input on the other side though - really stupid to put it on the front for a slide out unit...

    • @pnwxplore
      @pnwxplore  Před 2 lety

      You can orient the fridge how you want. If it was on passenger side, it would be facing the other way. The specific orientation I wanted just results in the power cord coming out that way

    does anybody to a cut open review of these reffers?
    proof in the pudding is showing what is really inside were you can not see.
    like are the handles bolted or just cheap sheet metal screws holding them in? world of difference in strength here.
    and just how thick is the insulation , top, all sides, bottom. all this and what the other brands are like.
    i have seen such for other items. and over all the brands do improve what they build. just so the next cut open video shows they are better built than the competition.
    price alone does not prove any product is any good. sponsored videos are just a commercial. a farce at worst.
