    I've been using a 12V Fridge for my camping trips since 2021 and it's been one of the best upgrades I've made in my camping gear. So much less fuss with out having to worry about managing ice and a static cooler.

    I just made the transition from cooler to fridge. I had a Coleman cooler that wasn’t very insulated. Rather than buy a yeti, I bought a bougerv on sale for $200. No more ice. It consumes a lot less power than I expected, around 35w. Easily powered via battery and solar.

    I bought this model recently to compliment my ICECO go20. Powered by an EcoFlow Delta 2, it easily stays charged for a three day camping trip . Nice review....thanks.

    Great review! Camping gear is always of interest to me, no matter how expensive or if I’m in the market, so no complaints here! Thanks Devon!

    I’ve had this very model for a few years and absolutely love it for car camping. My only beef with it is the weight. Iceco is certainly the way to go.

    I've got a Whynter 62 qt. 12v fridge freezer. It's great for longer trips, especially if I'm at a state park with power spot. Keeps stuff frozen and cold in two separate compartments that can both be run as either a fridge or freezer. I'm currently back and forth about getting something like a 20 or 25 qt. 12v fridge, or the same size cooler, for shorter trips. I also don't use ice in my coolers, but the refreezable "ice" packs.
    Good review, and yeah, that lid sliding back and forth would drive me crazy.
    🙂

    I’ve been eyeing getting a portable fridge/cooler for a while. This feels a little big for what I’ve been thinking but might be a good choice for some versatility. Nice review!

      Yeah in the world of fridges, this one is still on the small end. But their GO20 has been a really nice size for quick trips or just not taking up a lot of space. That would be worth considering. :)

    I have this model Iceco. I run mine off a Jackery 500. I get about 50 hours off the Jackery with no solar input.

    I never expected my Engel MR040 Freezer would turn out to be an asset instead of personal property & something that depreciates. I paid $750 for it back in 2017, it is now priced @$999.00 on Engel's website & amazon. Yes, it had more capacity that I ever really needed/wanted. It kept all my own home-made meals frozen, never had to stop at a restaurant to buy a meal, although I must admit to stopping & buying fresh salads on a regular basis.
    One moving part on their Swing motor compressor that always works. I wired it directly to the battery in my 1992 E250 Cargo Van turned Insulated camper van. No problems because it is a truly energy efficient freezer. I put a few ice cubes on top of everything, which was my acid test to make sure everything inside stayed frozen. I'd put a couple cans of soda inside the freezer for 30-45 minutes to get them ice cold. Yes, I lost track of time on several occasions & they froze & I scolded myself.
    Compressor runs quiet, never had any trouble sleeping when the compressor turned on for a few minutes at night.
    Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

    That loose lid must let some of the cold escape?

    Devin, have you had any interference with your keyless entry while using your fridge?

    Whatever happened to the joy of simplicity when going camping?

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  Před 8 měsíci +3

      I think you could ask that question about many things in life. "Whatever happened to the joy of using a flip phone?", "Whatever happened to the joy of driving a manual transmission?", "Whatever happened to.... etc, etc"
      We live in a world of technology and options. The nice thing is, you get to choose what those options are for you and run with it. :)

      @@BackcountryExposure The only cell phone I've ever had is my Flip phone. Yes, my 2009 Toyoto Yaris has a 5-Speed Manual Transmission.
      And I still prefer water bladder/drink tube for hydration when hiking rather than the so-called "Smart" water bottles. Color me "old school".

    Sorry, no $560.00 fridge. No overpriced Yeti either. It's very nice those people give their outrageously overpriced products to CZcamsrs so you can hawk them to the faithful. Makes angry seeing this load of....

    • @BackcountryExposure
      @BackcountryExposure  Před 8 měsíci +2

      Wow, okay. Never said you had to buy one. In fact I was pretty fair in saying when it could make sense to get a fridge if you wanted to go that route. But expressed that at the end of the day, you should use what your preference is.
      That said, Iceco is far from overpriced. Compared to Dometic for example, they are an excellent value.
