      When I saw your wall-0-fridge Dometic I thought.. BIG! The Iceco has the dan foss compressor, 800 bucks in Canada. Having a 2 door, I went for a slightly smaller 24x13x17.5 Rough Country with an LG compressor. As to performance, I'll soon find out. The cig plug-in is a problem on many fridges. My RC stores nicely between the seat and rear bar on the driver's side atop a 13" storage platform that's level with my pass seat when it's folded flat, makes into a nice long bed.
      Everythings a trade off. After many adjustments, I'm still tweaking smaller yet. 👍

    I agree with you it would be nice if they made a 35 to 40 qt version, something just a bit smaller than the 45 qt version with the same mechanical design and attributes. It seems though they instead make the smaller ones a cheaper design/quality to compete against all the cheap Chinese crap on Amazon.

    I purchased this fridge myself (vl 60 pro s, I also purchased the Dometic cfx 3 45, about a month apart, I tried freezing three bottles of water in each fridge, the Dometic got down to temperature twice as fast, the water was frozen in about 3 hours, and the iceco took over 24 hours before the water was frozen solid.

    • @KramerJunction
      @KramerJunction Před rokem

      I’m thinking maybe the larger volume of the 60 was able to cool as fast? Either way, it’s like I always tell people, if you put them side by side, the Dometic visually looks like a higher quality product and I think a big thing is the Dometic may be better insulated, specifically the lid. I haven’t cut either open to compare, that’s just my guess. I still prefer the side opening lid design of the ICECO over the Dometic. I was under no obligation to continue using the ICECO, all they asked for was a video and the only reason I did the video was because I wanted it when I saw it. I sold my Dometic which I paid for myself and the ICECO is still in the back of my jeep. I have had pretty good luck with the ICECO keeping things cold, the 45 gets down to temp fairly quickly. I haven’t done any testing but I’m pretty sure the ICECO uses more power than the Dometic, also.

    • @KramerJunction
      @KramerJunction Před rokem

      Lol I was under no obligation to give the fridge a good review. They asked me if I wanted it and I liked the design, so I said yes. The ICECO is my third fridge, the first two being Dometic. I am under no obligation to continue using the fridge, but I still do, even though I had an 8 month old Dometic CFX3 45 already in the back of my jeep. Spend over 100 nights a year, living in the back of your Jeep, and you will quickly see why I prefer the side opening lid. Many have the same criticism. I am very open that Dometic makes a higher quality product, but they don’t have a model that suites my needs.
      Now, however many months later, I’m still using the ICECO…because I like it.
      I sold the Dometic to my friend, Ray, and he’s super pleased with it.
      If someone like Dometic or arb made a 35 or 45 liter fridge, or something in that range, with a side opening lid. I’d strongly consider switching to that, but for now I’m going to stick with the best product for my needs.
      Also, the ICECO has performed flawlessly for me since I started using it.
      If you think my good review is skewed, because I’m so pleased with it, it’s because I did research on the product before I received it. I get people emailing me trying to send me stuff almost on the daily. I would not take good from someone, knowing I’m going to have to talk bad about it. I’ll leave that to someone else.

      I don’t have it wired to my starter battery. I have a Battle Born Batteries 100ah lithium house battery which powers it. Yeah, side by side, Dometic is visibly a nicer product and I’m pretty sure the Dometic stayed colder with less watt draw, but I still prefer the design of the ICECO and you really can’t beat the price. • @KramerJunction
      @KramerJunction Před 2 lety +2

      I am 100% with you! My ideal fridge is probably about 30L, but with a side opening lid. Don’t get me wrong, I can easily fit a weeks worth of food in my 45, but I never do lol
      It’s often 2 gallons of water, just because I have extra space and a couple days worth of meals.
      A 45 honestly isn’t much heavier than a 30-35 would be as most of the weight is the compressor unit. Every pound does count though

    • @MrSupernova111
      @MrSupernova111 Před 2 lety

      @@KramerJunction . That's good feedback. I just looked through their website and the JP 30 is currently out of stock which means the next smaller size is the JP 40. The size difference compared to the VL45 Pro is rather negligible to me.
      I'm in a unique living situation that requires I get one of these coolers to get by for a year which would save me thousands compared to eating out daily. The longer I wait the more money I waste eating out.
