My 2008 535xi gave me the code for the Camshaft Exhaust Sensor. It did have a slight rough idle for a few months without any codes. As soon as it threw this code within an hour my car completely shut down. It first started with my transmission staying in park and now it is completely shutdown. The ECM shut down everything.

What's the purpose of that sensor could you explain in detail because I have a p0 604 I'm trying to find the root of the cars

+Isreal Perez The camshaft position sensor gathers information about the vehicle's camshaft speed and sends it to the vehicle's engine control module (ECM). The ECM uses this data to determine the timing of the ignition, as well as the timing of the fuel injection that the engine requires. Thanks for watching!
