    I also had such a sensor error. It was not the sensor that was to blame, but the oil in the ankle. The oil was seeping from the sensor, flowing through the insulation and flowing out in the rubber casing at the plug. As the plug has holes, the oil seeped inside and caused the sensor to malfunction. The car fired differently, sometimes it had no power. After removing the sensor, cleaning the ankle and sealing, the problem has not returned for 3 months. Disassembly : Airbox out (more Space). You don't need to detach the pneumothorax tubes. (They are brittle and breakable) The filter housing cover is also not necessary for disassembly. Everything depends on the tools you use. For the video, the tools are too serious :) All you need is a broken Allen key. The vanos adjuster is also removable. Unfasten the ankle and just unscrew it. It's all. You can work for 30 minutes with the right tools.

    Is this the Eccentric Shaft Sensor?
    We have a 2007 X3 that throws codes every so often. I think they're P0015 and P0012. I've read it can be caused by a faulty eccentric shaft sensor. The car runs like crap until codes are cleared, and will then run for upwards of a week before throwing them again.

    What year/model BMW? Surprised you were able to get the cable unplugged at the intake manifold area. All the videos I've seen, they had to remove the airbox etc. to remove it. My 328CI doesn't stall, but the rpm's will dip to almost 0, a minute or so after I start the car, and go back to normal after a couple minutes. I originally had an 02 sensor code, so I replaced the 2 pre-cat sensors, and everything was fine. I scanned the car again and got the P0340 code. Thinking it was a coincidence, I cleared the code and it didn't come back after a re-scan, but rpm issue is back and the acceleration is not so great especially on the freeway. It can get to 100 but it's a slow climb to get there. Wondering if I should still change the ICP sensor.

    is under intake manifold.The wires are encased in plastic and run from front to back over manifold intakes,while the tube you
    disconnected at front crosses over at back of engine from cam cover to intake maniflod cover.I cannot find the intake cam sensor.

    My 2004 bmw 525i just stalled out on me today suddenly while slowing down going over a speed bump.. All lights work except it wasn’t wanting to start at all. Just kept cranking. I replaced my camshaft position sensor a month ago. Had spark plugs replaced and new gaskets switched out. Ever since I got that done. My car at times doesn’t start up on first try. But on the second it does right away. This isn’t all of the time but quite often. What could the be the reason for it stalling how it did and doesn’t want to start? I checked the battery n it had a little corrosion on the negative terminal. Maybe from trying to start it those few times before I called AAA..??

    Thanks for a great video. Could I ask about my car. It got all kinds of variations of start stop problems. (3 shops thought it was the red long battery cable that runs under the car, it was loose in the back) But it wasn't it as they fastened it. It sometimes starts with no problem, then it stops suddenly while driving, it sometimes don't start at all with no ignition sound, and sometimes it tries to 'give' with ignition sound but never 'grabs'.
    Starts fine without problems
    Doesn't start, without ignition sound
    Doesn't start, with ignition sound

      @@victoriarose7528 Hey Victoria. It was the battery cable under the car, specifically at the BACK, under the battery.
      There's a fastening skrew below the car under the back-trunk, a red cable that ends. It's this ending point that is loose and rusted. (Because the cable plastic is exposed at the end) So there's corrosion buildup there.
      I cut it off at the end (a little piece) sanded the contact point around the bolt. Got a new cable shoe(at a boat shop) And fastened it with pliers. Also using crimping wire cover to melt it over the new cut wire.
      To paint a visual picture for you: There's a red cable stretched across the car, from the front hood, to the back trunk. A very long red battery cable. It's this cable that is having poor contact at the back of the car under the battery. You need to make that contact point(and cut off a little piece of the corroded cable) where it is corroded. And give it a new metal cable shoe.
      The Cable has leeway to pull more cable to the given area, so you don't need a NEW cable as the car shop would have it.
      This problem is THE NUMBER #1 problem on these cars. They even have a list of top issues on the Tool they use at the shop. Where every make and model has a list of known issues. This is literally nr 1 issue at the very top.
      Here's what the cable looks like and that metal shoe. (You don't HAVE to solder if you clamp the metal shoe tighly on the cable).

      Could be the idle control valve is sticking. You can remove and clean it with brake cleaner or similar. Probably the problem is there the whole time but in the mornings your car is running on the cold start map so more fuel less air and it masks the issue. Normally the symptoms of cam sensor are just poor torque.

    Hey , my car randomly stalls as well , at coming to a stop mostly , and in case of cruising on a highway, it hesitates , as if I'm stepping on the gas and taking my foot off of the pedal constantly until it randomly goes back to normal . When it stalls suddenly, I can turn it back on , but it keeps turning off until I hit the highway to get back to normal . The scanner says " camshaft exhaust sensor " , does it really mean the sensor itself or the camshaft exhaust inside the engine ?

      @BIMMERZEITT  Před 2 lety

      Hey I would suggest changing both camshaft sensors, intake and exhaust. Yes exhaust cam sensor code means the sensor

    Holy crap. I've had this EXACT issue in my 2003 e53 (177k mi) for about 3 years now. About every 3 months, no more than 4-5 times a year, it will stall at super low speed when slowing down at a light or making a u-turn. I turn it off, turn the key, and it cranks right up and we are back to normal. For another 3 months. I had NO idea what it was. First guess was bad gas. Then, maybe the coils, perhaps a misfire. But this didn't fit the pattern of anything honestly. I've never even gotten a check engine light. But this car is going to my newly licensed daughter. I can't have it stalling on her if she is making a u-turn on a busy road. That's not safe. I'm gonna replace both intake and exhaust ASAP. Wish I knew which one but I don't mind replacing both. Do you have a strong opinion on using only Genuine sensors in situations like this? not even the top OEMS like Febi or Valeo or similar?

      if your car takes several tries to start it could be the fuel pump

    hi. did the code cam back after changing the sensor. i have an oem/vdo sensor i bought and the code keeps returning at random. also gives hard start when the code activates. when the car starts quick it doesnt show any codes

    • @BIMMERZEITT
      @BIMMERZEITT  Před 7 lety

      Richard if the code is still coming back, it is possible the sensor you installed is defective. I've seen it plenty of times with various sensors, as most are made in Eastern Europe, Mexico or China these days. I would recommend returning the sensor and exchange for a new one. That seems like the most likely scenario to me.

    I have a 316 compact and the engine has cut out twice now it does restart immediately. A code reader says it is the camshaft inlet sensor are they cheap to buy

    some mechanic told me , that if you get a cam sensor error and you are stranded , you can take the battery terminal for 15 sec and the error will go away , enough for you to get home , this is not a definit fix but enough to get you home :)

    If anyone has any knowledge on the 2004 BMW 325I series please inform me on why as I press on the brake and turn the switch to crank it this is the only time it stalls. I've been fortunate that it cranks each time but I don't know how long this will happen. What is going on with it?

    • @dantheman1337
      @dantheman1337 Před rokem

      Pressing the brake puts more strain on the battery/ engine because it puts a strain on the brake booster. You may notice that lights dim when you turn the steering wheel or press the brake for this reason.

    Before the stalling happened, did the electronics of the car also bug out? My issue is similar, but I can tell when its going to happen because the radio will shut off all of a sudden and the dash will flicker a bit.

    • @BIMMERZEITT
      @BIMMERZEITT  Před 6 lety +2

      The car would stall out (engine shuts off) at slow speeds (parking lot driving) and at stop lights.

  • @stumpmtsr
    @stumpmtsr Před 3 lety

    When this goes out in a BMW it shuts down everything. Lost my radio first, then everything else just stopped working. The transmission slowed the car down big time and gave me just enough time to get off the side of the road. Almost couldn't get it on the AAA flatbed because it wouldn't stay in Neutral. Kept going to Park.
