- With the arrival unusually warm weather here in NewEngland, I turn my attention to the "Old town" boat and motor I bought on the cheap a couple years ago.

Thank you Mark for taking a hit for the team.
I have been waiting for this series
I believe it cracked because it was in the tilt up position during the winter. Water ran down into the case and then expanded. They recommend that during the winter that you make sure the engine is in the down position. That way water can run out.
Thanks. that's good to know. I've got the gear case apart now and it's in bad shape.
I forgot. What happened with the other boat motor you were working on?
+cheeto4493 Ah yes, the old Johnson motor from the "Ugly boat" series. I was hoping everybody forgot about that one (lol). After the bone headed move where I broke the steering wheel, and faced with the prospect of having to deal with all those broken off bolts before I can re-assemble it, and the fact that I bought this boat, I kind of abandoned that project. But I really should finish re-assembly, if for no other reason than to sell the motor as a runner. Maybe even get some one to buy the boat as a restoration project.
Hi Steve how can I identify whether my engine is a 4 or 2 stroke, I do not see a dip stick or where I and check the oil. I have a 1990 Mercury serial # OC227578. I just brought the engine with a boat. I'm sorry I'm a newbie.
whats your Nearest lake in NH?
I'm in southern Massachusetts so there are no New Hampshire lakes near me. I'm about an hour away from the NH border.
Do you use the far malls front end loader
+Matt Dun Hi Matt, I think you mean the International (IH350). It's still not repaired. I did use the Oliver's FEL, but first had to make a lifting tool, and that resulted in an upcoming short series called "how not to thread".
Whatever happened to the IH 350U from a few years back. The series just ended with no explanation. =(
+Jay Walt It's sitting right there at 1:15 lol. But seriously, I will be returning to that project……….stay tuned.
