      Yoda didn't see much. Qui-Gon told him something about that just being a small fraction of the power the darkside already possessed. "There is always hope, my friend."
      I took it as a strategic choice. Yoda knew the Jedi got owned by the Sith. He made the choice that gave the galaxy the best chance for health going forward.
      Sometimes your enemy defeats you so badly the best option is to go into hiding and get your s#!t right.

    • @dogkungfu8510
      @dogkungfu8510 Pƙed 4 lety +14

      How many Temple guards and other Jedi fell to the darkside after/during order 66? More than a few, right?
      Suppose Yoda recalls all Jedi back to the Temple and permanently ends the Orders involvement in the war. How does that go? Quite a few would leave the Order to continue being Generals. Sidious is still mind f'ing Anakin with Padme dreams. The galaxy was already severely against the Jedi at this point. The cost of not being hypocrites (peace keepers 😂) would be severe in the court of public opinion.
      Basically, in my headcannon, anything that Yoda does to stop order 66 leads to Anakin still ending up as the emperor's little b*!**. Except this time Obi doesn't turn Vadar into Frankenstein's monster. The emperor has an appentice with insane evil potential fully intact, and hundreds, maybe thousands of Jedi to turn into inquistors.
      Turn's into Bond's Skyfall Silva rat speech where the Jedi destroy themselves.
      Or, even out of the war, some Jedi still fall for the office trap, "It's treason then!" Order 66 happens anyways. Every version to me ends up with Vader having even more former Jedi as darkside slaves.
      Yoda just might think that the galaxy is better off with just a dozen or so trained force users for awhile, than hundreds of redblades running around.

      After rewatching it makes the Jefia look more stupid and evil in that Yoda knew that the Clones would betray them and still let it happen. Fives already had revealed how it would happen and Yoda seen it happening. All they had to do was scan the inhibitor chips after they became suspicious of Palpatine having the Sith Lord near him.
      What the arc really did was explain how the Jedi achieved consciousness after death is all. I would ignore anything else about it besides seeing Dark Side Yoda, which was cool as hell.

    The Jedi knew not how to redeem. They only knew how to preserve good and destroy evil, while the Sith learned to turn souls to the darkness. It was only with the coming of Luke Skywalker that the Jedi began to learn how to redeem the fallen. Only then did they begin on the path of true power. A lot of good points, but I feel you are wrong about the Jedi not still sacrificing themselves for others. If anything, we saw that more in the Clone Wars, as many Jedi gave up their lives in both Canon and Legends to protect people, soldiers, or even fellow Jedi, such as Leska and the Padawan Pack during the Battle of Jabiim, or that Jedi and the Clones that sacrificed themselves in TCW Season 3 Episode 3 to allow the Twi'leks time to escape the Droids. Or how Cal's master sacrificed himself to save Cal during Order 66 in Jedi Fallen Order, or how Depa Bolga sacrificed herself for Kanen during Order 66 too. And we saw many moments with Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, and many other Jedi willingly putting themselves in danger to save their troops and civilians. There probably were some Jedi that chooses to save themselves during this time, like Krell, but I feel overall more Jedi were good and ready to sacrifice themselves to help others if need be during the Clone Wars.

    Burying your head in the sand when it comes to emotions you struggle with is never a good idea. The Jedi had bought into this image of fearlessness and serenity that others had of them, one that they themselves had created, intentionally or not. A mask that can't be sustained, and eventually caves in on you. In a way, it did this quite literally, with Anakin. He had become their poster-boy during the war, 'The Hero Without Fear', but they refused to acknowledge his fears and doubts, he ended up manipulated by Sidious into destroying them.

      Seems like they were so convinced of it(or at least, tried to pretend so hard) that when someone falls to the dark side they basically just go "dunno why that happened, things just happen sometimes". Even if their vulnerability/choice was foreshadowed by events that could have been intervened in if the Jedi weren't so full of their "We're Jedi,we don't have those issues. only the Sith/darkside users do". Doesn't mean they have to embrace anger, but pressuring people to say they're fine when they're not proved unhelpful.

    See this video right here and Yoda's realization is exactly why the OT is so important and why Disney's trilogy is such a failure. Luke is and was always meant to be the answer to where the Jedi went wrong and how to fix it. They needed to change. To adapt. To learn from their mistakes. To allow themselves to care for others. For it is only through our connections to others that we grow stronger. And this is why Luke simply giving up and hiding away like his former masters is such a slap in the face of not only his character but the central themes that drove the entire saga.

    • @jonasodhner6507
      @jonasodhner6507 Pƙed 4 lety +8

      I mean Luke had to struggle with himself in the sequel trilogy in some way, otherwise there would have been no story. Disneys failure is in that they didn't go anywhere with the Jedi order by having the exact same result as the OT and not picking up any of the million interesting threads left open by the prequels. Thus making the Sequel trilogy and (in canon) even the OT pretty much pointless.

    • @dakat5131
      @dakat5131 Pƙed 4 lety +7

      And then he never really fixes it or tries again. He doesn't learn anything after being coaxed out of hiding from his failure. The scene where he appears basically just to tell Kylo Ren "nope" doesn't redeem him or doesn't fit with the failure it's seemingly intended to address. So you get a scene that has the typical setup for that kind of element, and then drops the ball by acting as if it was aimed at something else. It's not a thrilling plot twist where a character did something unexpected and thrilling/intriguing, it's mixed messages in the storytelling.
      And then he doesn't get another chance and everything moves on without him.

    What I love most about this arc besides the midichlorians and deep spiritual world building is Yoda’s character. It puts him in the role of student and shows that even though he’s been affected by the war and politics and religion, he still has a kind heart and still has more to leanr

    You know, your analysis and the points that you made about this Ark really helps to clarify the scene in revenge of the fifth when Yoda advises Anakin about his visions of the future. I remember hearing everybody mentioned that Yoda was very big and not forming attachments, yet every single time I watch that movie I look at that scene and the way I hear what you’re saying is that Aniken needs to be careful not to let those feelings control him, not that he’s telling Anakin to have no attachments.

    I was so happy when I saw these episodes because it reinforced something I'd been saying for year (and got into arguments over)
    The Jedi as an organisation had lost its way and failed in what it wanted, it caused the very problems it wanted to stop. The whole system needed to be thrown away and something new built in place of it.
    The Sith are evil, the Jedi had failed, there needs to be a new philosophy.
    I cheered so much when I saw the trailer that had Luke seem to say that idea. (and there was a ego boost "I told you so" when thinking of the arguments I've had :p)

    I love the point of the jedi order needing to be destroyed and rebuilt anew. It very much mirrors the partially canon destruction and reconstruction of the sith by Darth Bane a millenia before. Making a very clear realization that the struggles of light and dark wil play out very differently, but still along the same patterns and frequencies. If you think about it this video even shines a new light on the sequel trilogy as well.
    On another note your Yoda impression is shite m8 lmao jk.

    If you think about it, the whole of the prequels was about the failures of the Jedi, and in extension the failure of Yoda, because he was a Jedi for so long. In a way, the OT was like his redemption arc. He led one Jedi to darkness, but trained the other one to save the galaxy. George Lucas is a genius storyteller
