    He probably was shown favoritism by university officials. Which is a problem in higher education, no matter the institution in my opinion. Yet, favoritism is not a crime even though it should not exist. To me, he is being scapegoated which is unfortunate. He has never been accused of, or charged with a crime related to this issue. Rather, someone seemed to want to make this guy the poster-boy for the university’s mis-management. With all his fashions, the guy is an easy target.

If I were him I’d get legal advice and take action against the blog post, school/administration and anyone who can be identified harassing him. I pray that this all goes away soon and he is able to pick back up and finish law school to be a successful lawyer one day. And maybe do a few pro bono cases that remind him of this event in the future to help other students or people experiencing what he has. Godspeed

      Guilty by association he might not be the sole source of coordination but he participated in what was going on. He personally was sending emails to the students that in turn had to leave the school. If he's innocent why would he think it's not strange to be generating that much money of his own for simply being a student worker. It's like Robert Deniro in Goodfellas said "don't buy anything big ". He might have been able pass about loans but the numbers and activity is too high just to say you were an excellent student.Flashin too hard.

      And a lot of others. HU only lets you receive up to there total amount of attendance 45K even with summer school and study abroad opportunities it wouldn’t be that much he received 78K one year. In that 45K you are already getting a refund his refunds per semester were averaging 15K versus the standard 6-7K. That’s wrong for two reasons by policy and the fact that after his needs were meet he received more. He may not have done it but he was in on it somehow. Not trying to down him or anything but I’m just going off what I see and the rules and regulations of the University. She also mentioned the 500$ in an awarded loan because if your need is 0 the award should have been more. Even if you don’t need that much the offer is true to your information $500 means you can get it and it’s not easy to get approved since the policy has changed. That’s weird too. Not only that if you’re on a full ride scholarship why did you have

  • @darienlenderson7120
    @darienlenderson7120 Před 6 lety +14

    I think he was probably shocked that the school was awarding him a grant even though his aid was enough to already meet his need. But as most people benefiting from a system flaw or something that seems internally inept and malfeasant, if you are benefiting from it, why call it into question?? I worked in financial aid for 3 schools. I even at one point worked on a temporary basis in Howard's finance office. There is no way he as a student would have been able to award any funds to himself nor disburse funds to himself. I think the full time financial aid employees knew there was a system flaw but they rolled with it, got paid, and eventually lost their jobs. He is in the clear. Hankerson didn't steal anything. And now his reputation is ruined because the school mishandled his financial aid, then leaked his files. He has a very good lawsuit. But he better hope he has a white jury. Because no matter how much you explain this to Black people, they keep thinkin Tyrone was in there putting money in his account. He had no means or access to do that.
    There was no crime committed. If there was a crime, he would have already been in jail. The school cannot go after him ctiminally because there was no system in place for him to award himself and disburse himself all that money. He just benefited financially from going to a school that is heavily financially mismanaged.

    As someone who also worked in the financial aid dept during my doctoral studies, there is absolutely no way he could have stolen the money. Students don't have access to that. His records also show that he was awarded academic scholarships, and student loans. The accumulation was both during undergrad and postgraduate. The numbers add up if he took out the full loans awarded for both undergrad and postgraduate along with academic based scholarships. With out knowledge our people will expire. Stop and leave this man alone. Y'all need to stop believing everything you hear in the media and begin to ask questions instead of jumping to conclusions.

    He never said that the leaked files were false. So the fact of the matter is he received more money than needed to afford attending Howard University. Did he receive a refund check? How was that money spent? As an employee in the financial aid office he had to know that he was getting more aid than you avg student. He was also privy to the fact that his peers were not able to receive aid because funds have run out

    I find this story to be very fishy. If Tyrone was responsible for embezzling more than $400,000 in financial aid funds, why is he still a student? Why has he not been arrested and charged with embezzlement? Also, we have to take into account that he is a student employee. Unless he is a professional hacker or coder, he would not have the administrative rights or permissions to be able to approve and transfer funds. Howard is a lot of things but openly trusting a student with access to their money is not one. I originally saw an article stating that top Howard administrators were being investigated for embezzling funds. All of a sudden this kid is being thrown under the bus. Honestly, I think he is the sacrificial lamb for a greater conspiracy. I feel sorry for him.

    • @MrOu83
      @MrOu83 Před 6 lety +5

      strongforu - He is at Howard Law and will graduate on May 12. The investigation was completed in May 2017, reported to Dept. of Education in July 2017. September 2017, six employees fired( Tyrone was not one of them, he hadn’t worked for HU since spring 2015). To date, HU has not accused him of anything. If Howard felt he had committed any wrongdoing, they would have kicked him out. If they felt he owed them money, he would not be allowed to graduate without paying it.
