MizzY Moss did I fucking mention trump or support for a side? I'm simply pointing out Kanye is going against the grain and the media is not having it. That's it I said the same shit when Colin Kapernick kneeled the owners weren't having it. Democrats ..republicans two side of the same. Coin that want control of minorities in their own way

Kanye's exact words were as follows: "when you hear about slavery for 400 years that sound like a choice... it's like we're mentally imprisoned. I like the word "prison" better cause "slavery" goes too direct to the idea of blacks... prison is something that unites us as one race... the human race." He then later said, "the reason why I brought up the 400 years point is because we can't be mentally imprisoned for another 400 years." Kanye was talking about mental slavery in the present day being a choice not actual slavery. It's not like actual slavery has been around for 400 years in the US. Actual slavery was abolished in 1863, 244 years after the first slaves came over to America in 1619. Kanye is saying however that mental slavery has lasted past the Emancipation Proclamation into 2018. It has been almost 400 years since the first slaves came over to America (2018-1619=399 years) and many of us are still mentally imprisoned. He thinks this is a choice. This is all that Kanye was trying to say.

A slave when first captured by gun point has no choice but to cooperate or die. After a while the slave has a natural right to rise up against the master and launch a counter ambush. The nature of human kind is to rise up, break their chains, and desecrate their enslaver. Harriet Tubman achieved this through escape and evasion. Frederick Douglas accomplished this by physical beating his slave master and escaping to a better life. Remaining on the plantation, singing to white Jesus, and forgiving the slave master is another choice. I do believe this is what Kanye was talking about.
The earthbound black person is the only people walking the planet that are compelled to forgive, pray for, and unconditionally love another race that has done them so much harm.

Ok. So now us black are going to debate each other on a subject 150 years old about whose perspective is right...this is weird and a waste of time...
They (people who were slaves) had no choice. We (people less than 150 years old) have a choice to not be enslaved by the past, mentality. It's that simple to me.
Drop the slave mentality and let's get past this.
Instead of yelling let's start leading.

"We've been controled by the media "
"We are following other people's opinions "
" Yeah, right now we're choosing to be enslaved"
" By that you're choosing to enslave people's minds "
400years of MIND-SLAVERY - Pretty self-explanatory. But you just read titles and watch short cuts thus proving 100% the media control on people that Kanye was speaking about

Just the manner in which you constructed your argument (and don't waste my time suggesting that I mean you sound "too intelligent" to be Black, because that's not my point at all - and I BET you damn well know it) is precisely the manner someone unsuccess at posing in the guise of being something they are not gives themself away.

Kanye is starting to realize that he’s an individual and that he’s no longer going to be trapped in a group think of people that think they are victims. He’s imploring his black brothers to free themselves of the shackles of the past. He’s trying to improve the black community by being a leader.

The problem with Stephen A Smith and the people that have commented so far is that they don't see the big picture of what Kanye is talking about.
Listen to the man and throw your bias out the window for a moment. He describes how Donald Trump has been very popular in the rap community, hence the inclusion of his name in several songs by several artists over the years.
Why is this important? As soon as Trump started running for president, the tone has changed. Democrats convinced black voters that Trump was not their guy. In fact, they consistently run a "we are going to help minorities" campaign while slandering the other side to be a racist party. All the while, they do nothing to help black communities. They give minorities empty promise after empty promise during elections. Yet you still vote for them. Aren't they tired of being looked at as nothing more than votes by the left?
Kanye is sick and tired of black people being looked at as victims, which politicians have been exploiting for years. He wants black people to free themselves from their past. He doesn't want black kids growing up thinking everyone is out to get them. Most of all, I don't think he wants them to believe that some politicians are going to fix their problems when they are not to be trusted. When Kanye says 400 years of slavery sounds like a choice, he does not mean this literally.
He preaches freedom of thought, and is met with contempt by the very people he is trying to reach. Its a shame.

Given any topic you will find a whole range of opinions. Given just about anything you will find people who excel and others who do not and so on. We are not a monolith, we are not all the same. People mad at Kanye did not listen to the whole interview, and only heard or read a headline.
Also, Molly should fact check. The statement that he lost 10 million followers was a lie, and Twitter has already acknowledged that.

Different Perspective if you only consider his words, then maybe he meant them to mean something else but consider his actions of calling Trump his brother and showing support of him. Trump is a racist individual. Put Kanye's words with his actions and you clearly see what he meant by his remarks on slavery. He disappointed a whole community and many more people beyond that.

Here we go again with Stephen “Triggered” A Smith. People are taking what Kanye said way out of context. If you actually listen to what he’s trying to say. He’s actually talking about mental slavery. Being enslaved by your job, the government, manipulated by the media, or a puppet in the entertainment industry, etc. Go listen to his other interviews and actually listen to what the hell he’s trying to say. Plus, why the hell are they even talking about this on this show? There’s never an episode without first take going off about racism. People turn to ESPN for sports. What does Kanye’s tmz rant have anything to with sports?

    • @wais_45
      @wais_45 Před 6 lety

Beau Kanye said Slavery for the “past 400 years” which he is obviously referring to Black Slavery.
What Kanye said was just stupid in so many levels. And this speech about being “trapped by mental slavery” is pretty rich coming from a millionaire.

Kanye basically had a 30 minute conversation with TMZ--and all you can talk about is ONE SENTENCE. He gave a lot of body and context to where his statements were coming from! You only want to give a black man a voice when he wants to stay thinking like a victim

Those slaves didn’t choose to board a ship and sail thousands of miles to a foreign country where they’d be treated as nothing more than farm equipment. Children born into slavery did not choose to be slaves, nor did their children’s children. The generations after that did not choose to be treated as second-class citizens and lynched.
This is why people lashed out at Kanye for saying “slavery was a choice”. It’s a ludicrous thing to say.
