  • Welcome back to the channel, I'm Damo, and in today's video, we're diving into the lesser-known aspects of living with a B7 Audi A4 Avant.
Before we kick off, make sure to hit that subscribe button and ring the notification bell for updates on future videos. Cheers!
    🚗 Noise and Surprises 🚗
Ever thought a two-liter TFSI petrol engine could sound a bit like a diesel? Well, surprise! The Audi A4 B7 might just surprise you with its unique engine note.
    📦 Glove Box Woes 📦
Did you know that the glove box in these Audis has a soft open mechanism? But be careful, these can often break and need some creative fixes.
    🛠️ Age Brings Issues 🛠️
As the B7 Audi A4 ages, you might encounter some typical problems, like corrosion on alloy wheels and surface rust on wheel arches. It's part of the charm, right?
    🌐 Legacy of the B7 🌐
When Audi stopped making the B7 in 2008, the tooling was sent to SEAT, which continued producing a similar model called the SEAT Exeo. Surprisingly, Exeos in the UK were only available in front-wheel drive and diesel options.
    🛋️ Clever Interior 🛋️
Audi knew space was valuable. So, the B7 comes with knee imprints in the back of front seats to provide extra legroom in the rear. Pretty smart, huh?
    ⛽ Half a Tank, Really? ⛽
Audi provided new B7s with a generous half tank of fuel. Penny-pinching or just a quirky way of saying hello?
    💻 Extra Trip Computer 💻
Surprisingly, a trip computer isn't standard on the S-line version of the B7. You'd have to shell out extra for this handy feature.
    🚗 Classic Simplicity 🚗
The B7 Audi A4 is a blend of elegance and solidity. It sticks to simplicity, lacking the touchscreen infotainment systems of newer models. Just classic gauges and a chunky gear lever.
    🛡️ Charm of Aging 🛡️
Even with age, this B7 A4 still stands strong. The elegant simplicity of its design has a certain charm that's hard to let go of.

2023, got a 2005 B7 still going strong. No issues just taken care of with preventative maintenance, this year's a big one looking to do the intake cam to the newer one, fuel injectors, and new fuel pump with an aftermarket housing that allows for better B8 HPFP cam follower to be used. Easy enough to work on and find good priced new OEM parts. Enough power for a daily driver, but I've always wanted to get a stage 1 tune for it which should really transform it. Never going to set fast lap and quarter mile times, but I tell myself the same thing about wanting a new car. Just don't see a big enough leap from what I have to justify a monthly payment and probably higher insurance, then if anything some things have become more complex like you said (and in the B8/9 EA888, arguably not as reliable as the EA113).
I'd like one of these new plug in hybrids if I had a place to charge it, that'd be a big enough leap to justify. Audi ought to take the new Golf GTE and offer real plug in options for the entry models (next car probably an A3 since it's roughly the same size, wish we got the hatch here in the U.S.)

    • @damos_cars

Interesting! The S-Line has the S4 styling minus the aluminum mirrors, quad-tailpipe and Recaro seats and in America it was impossible to order it with as little equipment as yours. To get the S-Line package you had to first order the Premium package which required the Sunroof package! About 28k pounds in 2007 money. Same with Technology and Cold Weather packages. Other options could be ordered individually. There was also a Titanum package requiring the S-Line which blacked out wheels, chrome and aluminum parts, headliner and interior trims.
S-LINE PACKAGE - AMERICA (need Premium)
    - Sport suspension, including 30% stiffer shocks / springs, stronger stabilizer bars in front & rear,
    suspension lowered by 20 mm
    - 18'' 5 arm cast alloy wheels from quattro GmbH (same for spare wheel)
    - 235/40 R18 high performance Y-rated tires
    (same for spare wheel)
    - S line door blades, bumpers and rear spoiler trunklid from S4
    - S line grille
    - S line badges on rear moldings of rear doors
    - S line interior door sills
    - S line badged 3-spoke steering wheel: red/silver/black stitching, shift paddles on auto models; perforated leather
    - Brushed aluminum interior trim from quattro GmbH
    - Black interior, grey headliner
    PREMIUM PACKAGE (need Sunroof)
    - Heated front seats, adjustable in 6 steps
    - Power passenger seat (power driver seat standard)
    - Automatically inside dimming rearview mirror with digital compass
    - Exterior mirrors: auto dimming/heated/power folding
    - HomeLink® universal garage door opener
    - Rain sensor
    SUNROOF PACKAGE
    - Glass sunroof
    - Leather seating surfaces
Uncommon options were the rear sunshades (even though they only cost 100$). TPMS, Parktronic and rear seats Airbags were available but I've never seen them installed on a wagon.
The cooled glovebox and the TV receiver option for the navigation unit were not available in America.

I own B7 2.0 tfsi and so far i'm happy enough with it. Gladly no major issues - have currently problem with O2 sensor (before the cat.) ..I get check engine & error code (for something with the 1st sensor - BEFORE the cat.).. I changed it with brand new, yet I still get the error code from time to time, changed spark plugs & other stuff as well, not sure atm. what could cause this error code. Regardless of that - I kinda like my 2.0T ...someone asked about the reliability - well.. it's an old car after all, but this engine is pretty much "facelifted" 1.8T - which is probably one of the most reliable VAG petrol engines.
As most engines - petrol or diesel.. if u do your maintances on time & treat your car good - it'll last.

I feel the pain and the love of the B7 😉
I had a 2007 B7 Allroad in NY. Loved that car, save for the oil consumption/ slight leaks .. the killer eventually was the airbag suspension that became too costly and had to give it up at 150,000 miles..easily the best car for driving experience and handling and we still miss it to this day. I've had several more Audis but none lived up to the B7 Allroad (A6) driving experience and touches

Not sure what B7 Allroad you had. But in North America, the Allroad was sold from 1999 to 2006 based on the A6 (C5) avant. Then, from 2012 and on based on the B8 A4 avant.
Airbag suspension is cheap to replace, if it is just the actual airbags. Or, you could've converted to coil springs for about $500 (just parts).

Interior from b8 is a lot of plastic. I don't like the interior of the b8. The b7 has everything i want.

Not much use the information only relates to petrol not any 2.0 tdi versions why would you not put it in your description what a waste of my time thumbs down from me 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

    • @damos_cars
      @damos_cars  Před 2 lety

You disliked it so much that not only did you watch it but you chose to leave a comment. I may not have mentioned it being a petrol (second para in description does say 2.0TFSI, also at 0.25s you can actually see a pic of the engine with 2.0TFSI on it, then at 0.35s I actually say petrol engine) but nor did I mention it being a tdi. You assumed and you know what assuming does? Does your loo roll have instructions printed on it?
