2019 SCANIA Driver Competition (Skills Test) Ireland Final

- Join me as i take a trip to Westward SCANIA Strokestown Ireland, to check out 16 truck drivers competed against each other to be awarded the Irish National Finalist for the SCANIA Driver Competition. The winner will now travel to SCANIA Sweden at the end of May, to compete with the rest of the European finalists to win a brand new truck to the value of €100,000
The skills tasks that these drivers had to compete in were very difficult. Tricky maneuvers with articulated trucks, load securing and fault finding to name a few, all under close scrutiny. It's certainly not a competition for an inexperienced driver. I even had a go at one of the maneuvers myself...maybe that was a bad idea!! ..all great fun though.

Hey Stavors, I'm from the USA. I love seeing your videos it's always a great time! I loved seeing you drive at the competition, that was good times. I would love to see the truck you drive I'll bet it's top notch. I love your attitude, your always so up beat and it makes my day to see someone take something as simple as a truck and make it fun. Stavors you've made me fall in love with the SCANIA brand and would love to come see one someday. After seeing the outtakes at the end of your videos I would love to see you do a video as one take. I think you could turn all the "what would be outtakes" and make them fun. Keep up the great work and cheers from the US!

Great video as always, Stavros. Just wondering if you'd consider doing a video explaining what "add blue" is and maybe a video on your personal truck.
Adblue is used to convert nitrogen compounds in exhaust gas to straight nitrogen (Which is 78% of air anyway). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selective_catalytic_reduction
Chemically Adblue is made from water and urea, so it's basically concentrated urine...
Great video! Well done to Niall Cashin on his win. Don't forget runner-up Aengus Clarke either. It takes a lot of skill to handle these machines at that level of competition.

very similar competition local in america. Not about speed here either. Good luck to ireland in the big competition. A real tricky one would be hard set spread axle trailer tandem. not many get that correct on tight turns.. expected to go the same places as everyone else

all my swiches are packed up now on the drivers door, ive had them put in the passenger side.now .i have to walk accrosss when i want to put the window down and adjust the mirrors .... ive borrowed mo now from ned he does my windows and mirrors for me ...with a slap .

What kind of weight do they haul with only being on one set which I assume is Dually wheels or a super single??
44metric tons with those trailers and that is the max for most of europe in sweden you can weight 64 tons on all roads and 74 on some roads and that is with 4 axeled trucks and 5 axled dolly wagons
The streamline r500 and euro 5 series with 500horsepower ar v8 but the scania s500 isn't a v8 can somebody explain streamline is a euro6 so is the next gen

I'm from the US an really like your videos. I'm wondering what the tank is called with the blue cap. If that's the DEF tank. Here in the states that's what we call it. Diesel Exhaust Fluid= DEF.
Even though my truck is deleted, it's just a way for the government to control our trucks.
Adblue its used to lower emmissions stupid in my opinion because it is just another thing that fails and breakes down
@@harre0267 same here, our trucks stay in the shop for emissions components. The best thing to do is delete it.
