In this lesson, you will learn about the interquartile range of data, also known as IQR. First, we must break up the data into quartiles, which divides the data into four equal groups. The interquartile range is the difference between Q3 and Q1, which is the third and first quartile. In this way, we can throw out any outliers and focus on the bulk of the data. The IQR tells us how spread the data is without considering outliers in the data.

Great explanation on IQR, I never really quite understood what I was calculating before. I just memorized 1 st Q minus 3rd Q for IQR ?! I wish I had seen this before my GRE . Great job as always Sir .Merry Christmas!

I get it sir! This is dealing with making the most rational choice from the numbers available. You throw away the high numbers and the low numbers and stay in the middle! This would be good for somebody that played poker! WOW...numbers are fun when you really study them! Very exciting!

hello sir, thank you for this very nice educational video, can you make also a video on electrical about grounding? how it works when ground fault happen and how does it related to esd in electronic devices. thanks

  • @catirerubio

It is very difficult but after several viewings I see the math. Thank you. But how is it translated? For example, in the second problem, what does the answer 9 represent? Age? People? The problem refers to double digit retirement ages. In problem three, what does the answer 5 refer to? Donuts?

It's interesting to see how IQR throws away outliers.

What is the advantages of inter quartile range compared to the total range of the data
