    I just have to say thank you for making this video, it's been incredibly helpful for me and has clarified the difference between an odd and even data set when it comes to the median. My school is so shitty that they leave these things out of the learning material which is really frustrating. Anyway, thank you so much!!!

      So glad to help! Let me know if you have any questions - I hope the learning material at school gets more thorough for you!

    My only concern is why does solving an even set differs? There are three methods that I've seen and they have different answers. So, which of thosee are correct?

    I remember my teacher saying something like “always round up” when we were going through this. What could he have meant by this?

      Ah wait i see, let’s say there is a set of {0,13,14,14,14,15,17,17,18,21,21,23,23,25,26,26,27,27,27,28,34} (I know it’s long but it’s the example he gave 😅) Instead of doing it the way in the video, you can just find the cardinal number (which is the total number of numbers in the set), 21 and divide it by 4, which is 5.25 then round this up to 6 you then find the 6th number of the set which is 15. You then get 3/4 of 21, which is 15.75 and round this up to 16 you then find the 16th number in the set which is 26. You can then find the IQR which is [15,26] = 11
      This way is usually shorter and easier.
      I hope i explained right and that this is correct.
      (Edit: made a mistake in the example set and in explanation)

    WHY THAT SONG?

  • @Mackings123
    @Mackings123 Před rokem

    He's correct but didn't complete the process by dividing by 2. I.e IQR = (Q3 - Q1)/2

    • @WrathofMath
      @WrathofMath  Před rokem +2

      What would we divide by 2 for? The definition of IQR has no division by 2

  • @wig9210
    @wig9210 Před 2 lety

    This is incorrect. After you add the median numbers and divide by 2 you then have to divide that sum by 2 as well. So your real answer is 8.5

      I'm not sure what you're talking about, what number are you trying to find?
