    Mam in quartile 3 why you take 3x2 = 6 term and why quartile 62 please explain

    • @EnjoyMath
      @EnjoyMath  Před 2 měsíci

      Here n=7
      Therefore, q3= 3(n+1)/4 th position
      q3= 3*8/4=3*2=6 th position
      Now we have to arrange the observations in ascending order..then we see that the observation at the 6th position is 62.

      Q1=2+0.5*(4-2) =2+0.5*2=2+1=3

      Hello, it's a really interesting question!! I verified with couple of different data sets, 2 times of range is approximately 2.6 times of IQR....so probably it should be 3 times,pls let me know if you have any questions

    • @EnjoyMath

      Do verify it with a couple of examples .....I got 2.6 that way....
      You may be right...but if
      2 x range = 2x IQR
      Then the 2 on both sides of equal sign will get cancelled and we get,
      Range= IQR, which is usually not the case....
