    Thanks for that. Very useful for anyone like me thinking of buying some used to rebuild into a proper cab.
    The little magnet on the back is for the tweeter btw. The ‘focusing ring’ might actually be a horn tweeter, but I’m not sure about that.

    I have a 6" uni q driver from a reference 90 centre channel. There is a sticker on the bottom of the magnet which says the driver was made on 12th march 1993! It has either a 1.75" or 2" voice coil I can't remember but it is really efficient and sounds rather decent! I lov KEF!

    Got me some of these, had a Teufel Consono 35 MK3 till then and wasn't thrilled by the Music Performance of the Teufels. These are the best sounding satellite Speakers I've ever come across in the 26 Years i am playing with HIFI stuff, such nice Tonality, Definition and Clarity from the Mid Range to the Heights, very impressive! Will it beat the bigger LS50 or something like the Klipsch Reference 600? Probably not, but paired with a nice Sub it's definetly an option for some high Quality Sound. Especially since they go pretty cheap on the used Market.

      I just purchased 6 of these last week and Kef subwoofer 2000. All in mint condition delivered to my door at € 200 or $ 240 the lot.

      @@jameswalsh2427 Nice! I Like them a Lot, Just for the Front left and right I bought some Used LS 50 Tor Stereo Listening which was a noticable Upgrade but These are a little picky when it comes to The Amplifier. I would at least Go to 150w at 8 Ohms, and the AMP should be capable of driving Low impedance Speakers, I would consider my Denon AVR 2600h as the Minimum, but If You Set your Crossover Frequency a little Higher, You should be fine with that SUB and These Beauties.

    I know these speakers are like 20yrs old but how do they match up to current satellite systems like SVS Prime or RSL CG3

    Perhaps the magnets on the back is for magnetic shielding. Consider the age of those speakers and CRT TVs were still a thing and you wouldn't want magnets near your tube tv. I just picked up a pair of these today for the whopping price of free from someone who said the previous homeowner left them in the house and they just wanted to get rid of them. Can't wait to hook them up.

    I wanted to know if the tweeter array on this is compatible for replacement with the iq9 iq3ds or iq6c speakers. I have a pristine set of those bigger speakers but 2 tweeters are blown and was looking for a replacement. Some of these egg speakers are being sold "used" for $200 or so near me, and could make a nice harvestor for my bigger speakers. Any insight you might have (part numbers) or measurements would be invaluable.

    I have these speakers, and just recently started getting a rattling sound from them during movie scenes with deep bass. When I took it apart and tested it, it sounded fine. When I put it back in the enclosure, I get the rattling sound again. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

    • @mjbartending
      @mjbartending Před rokem

      I have a similar thing happen with loud deep movie bass. My make shift solution is to put them on a different mixer output channel than my subwoofer and then reduce the bass for the KEFS only, no problem since.

    Thanks for the video! I have a q10c that needs a new tweeter, I have a few eggs and could sacrifice one to get the other going but I can't tell the secret of getting it out, it's not to hard on the center speaker but the egg has no screw or bolt etc!? Any help would be awesome!

      The Tech Guy, yes I can get in the egg no issues it was trying to get the tweeter out of the driver, it does not have the bolt, it looks like the uni-q tweeter isn't able to be removed

      Behind the sticker on the magnet there’s a screw

      @@reidharris5064 I've replaced the tweeter on one of those uni-q from a iq5. It was pushed in....i replaced it with a new one ordered from kef in uk throught the dealer. Its a delicate job....with unsoldering and soldering...
      And a nuance like scratch the end of the thin wire in order to remove the protective dielectric coat before embebded that wire tips on the solder.

      Did you manage to replace the q10c tweeter with the "egg" tweeter? I have exactly the same problem, and before buying a whole set of Kef eggs, I would like to know your result.

      ive heard both and the egg is better. The older Bose is better then the cubes. The ones for the 3-2-1 system, but the kef egg is fenomenal for the used price
