Kef Egg 1001/1005 test music playback with no sub. Paired with a sub they sound great.

  • The original kef egg. Still one of the most versatile quality speakers you can get. No other speaker this small to this day is this dynamic while compact.
They use a coincident driver array allowing for true point source audio between 120hz-27khz in an amazingly small form factor.
Being point source allows the solid aluminum elliptical enclosure to eliminate all standing waves so that there's no coloration and true neutrality while casting a sound stage way bigger than what you're seeing. They sound bigger than big cereal box speakers and are way easier to mount.
You can mount them on any wall or ceiling with a simple 2.5 inch bracket and a computer screw which leaves about 2 millimeters of space behind them and since they're egg shaped they can still be swiveled 180 degrees even while mounted.
In stereo here are only 2 point sources so the imaging is razor shape even if you were an astronaut floating around the room.
They are about the size and weight of a tall can of beer.

Thiago Macedo these are great because they're the smallest single point 2 way speakers you can get, so they sound exactly the same no matter where you are 120 degrees in front of them and side to side while having controlled vertical dispersion to help constrain ceiling and floor reflections. it's a brilliant design and extremely rugged and portable. that being said they are the SMALLEST eggs ever made which is what makes them cool as a collectors item but of course you can't break the laws of physics. the Jamos are much bigger and would be more comparable to the KEF 3001SEs which are the same basic design but since they're larger they just sounds like a full sized book shelf and can go down to 50hz flat which is incredible for a speaker that size.
      I'll link you

the Jamos would be more comparable to these in size which are the largest eggs kef ever made

the 3001/SE were a reinvention of the egg series starting from scratch which allowed them to produce something that kick started KEF into the new generation.
the egg 1001 and 2001 are more similar to classic KEF while the 3001 being about the same size as the 2001 blow them away and are a lot more like the precursor to the LS Series and even the blade.
I have the iq series, the 1001.2s, the 2001.3s AND the 3001SEs. the 1001.2s are amazing for their size but the 3001SEs are on a whole new level. in fact the designs that were pioneered in the 3001SEs ended up trickling up to the blade and the LS series and the R series including the tangekng waveguide, sealed suspension between the tweeter and woofer, elliptical port, oblong baffle for broad even dispersion and minimal vertical reflection just like the LS and blade series. the woofers also still use the flat diaphragm over the side vented comes that were pioneered by the KEF 3001 series and then obviously there's the aesthetics where the LS series looks like a squared off version of the 3001ses while the blade looks like the 3001SE hatched and grew up.
I've never seen a speaker the size of the 3001SEs go as high and low and as clean, they're definitely worth checking out.
the 3001s never had a true successor. the kef egg active series and the KEF e301 are both based on the 2005.3 while the LS series and the blade are the spiritual successors to the 3001se which were one of a kind. the 3001ses are superior to the 3001s. in order to get the 3001s to go down to 70 they needed a mid range boost but they managed to get the 3001SEs to play flat down to 50hz without having to add the mid range boost which is amazing.
the e301s are bit smaller being the successor to the 2005s and only go down to about 75hz and the KEF egg active series are about the same size as the 3001SEs but being filled with circuitry I suspect took up the space needed to allow them to play as low as the 3001SEs.
the 3001SEs are also passive so you can choose to pair them with any Amp you want like the topping mx3 pro which is what I use and they sound amazing.

Las compare con mis cubos bose y estos huevitos suenan mejor para el tamaño que tienen.
