Jesse sorry about your fail with the check ball! Wish I could say I've never screwed up, but I can't! I appreciate you doing this video for the heads up! I got a 1996 2500 burb that has the hydro boost and that damn thing has leaked ever since I bought it. It's finally time to fix it. I went through 3 quarts of power steering fluid this last summer pulling my camper and boat. Now it's winter and the fluid just pores out of it. I was very happy to hear you say you ordered your seal kit from PirateJack! That's where I got mine and your right they didn't charge shipping. Anyhow great video very informative! Thanks again for making it.

I think the instructions showing a check ball are an older or different model.the instructions from pirate jack show a completely different check valve assembly, maybe an old style.i think the little rod with the ball on the end takes the place of the seperate ball. word of warning, i bought a cheep rebuild kit ,i had to push the little rod into the valve with a pair of pliers, this caused the rod to not move freeley back and forth. now when i turn the steering wheel my brakes apply themselves. i've ordered a better kit

Nice video. I'm glad Pirate Jack has worked out for some folks, but for my 1986 GMC C6000, it was a failure. I had ordered their "fits all" package. When I finally got it, I opened the shipping package. I looked through the plastic bag at the seals, excited about getting my truck running again. I put the my old seals next to the bag and and discovered, nothing matched. Totally useless. I thought about returning it until I read about a 20% restocking fee for free shipping orders. Ehh, not worth the time, trouble or expense for a few bucks. It's now my new paper weight. So don't be so sure Pirate Jack has your cure all. Hey! I'll sell you my unopened package for a couple of bucks less than I bought it for. At least it won't go to waste.

Just FYI, the accumulator is charged when the PS pump is running (engine running) and is meant to give some brake assist in the event that the engine dies and you're still rolling. The accumulator gives 2 or 3 semi-power assisted stops, but is not used during normal braking operation.

    Good day;
My neighbor has a 2000 chevy 2500 diesel 4wd and brake pedal went to floor.
IT has the hydraulic Fluid booster .
I tinker and want to try save him a buck.
    No complaint of steering issue.
I felt underside at Master & booster union and feel minimal fluid. No puddle or honest trace of a external leak.
I let truck sit for while, hit brake pedal- to floor.
I let truck run a bit then shut off - pedal to floor.
I held foot on pedal and started - no build up.
If I take foot off- pedal will return out.
I have not worked on a hydr, just the old canister suction type.
Have you come across an internal?
On another vid it was concluded a ABS pump was the prob on a like issue.
I think the pedal/ start stop engine pre tests lead me to the booster.
Greatly appreciate your thoughts if I have misunderstood sequence of diagnosing.
    Best; Tom

Trying to find someone that has some knowledge with these. Any help would be appreciated. So I had a similar or same issue, when I turn on the truck the pedal goes to the floor. when I turn it off the pedal goes back out. I struggle so much with the brakes. I had no brakes, I had to bleed the system so much but no response. when I took the hydroboost apart I saw that check valve but it never came out.
That check valve stay inside, I even remember pressing that valve and I saw a little bit of fluid out but nothing out of order.
Anyways this could explain why my pedal goes to the floor. I could not figure out what was wrong with the system, I took it to the shop because I run out of ideas, I replace the power steering pump. The shop said it may need a new hydroboost which is very expensive right now but at this point I am letting them replace it which is costing me an arm and a leg but now I am letting them see if they can fix my no brakes issue. when the truck is off, you can feel the brake pedal (very hard) when the truck is on the pedal is suck and goes to the floor.
